I had always feared this part of battles. The landing. The actual battle was nerve racking but the landing was way more. You never knew what you're heading into. I turned to Caleb "Gonna be a." I got interrupted by the landing craft to the right of me getting hit with a artillery shell and blowing up. "Shit... Japs are puttin up a helluva a fight eh Caleb" The craft approached the shore. God be with me and everyone here I thought. "30 seconds" yelled the driver "God be with you." I gripped my rifle. I got 30 more seconds until pure hell I thought.

PFC Strank sat quietly in the landing craft, the droning of the engine doing little to interrupt his thoughts. His trusty M1 Garand was stood on its rear end, a full clip already loaded into the rifle. In his backpack, Strank carried a full load of bandages, morphine, sulfur and all other medical supplies. After Pearl Harbor, he was strictly unwilling to let anybody die, especially if it were slow and painful. Moments before the driver called out, Strank saw a huge explosion as a landing craft next to his was struck by an artillery shell. "Fuck me......." Strank whispered to himself, before pulling himself together again. If he was going to die today, he would do it in a blaze of glory.

Checking his gun, and making sure the bolt is open Caleb checks the sights on his rifle. "Ain't that the truth man" he replies to Joseph. Looking twards his childhood friend Francis, "just like old times huh buddy? Except now were hunting soldiers, so yeah, that got dark fast.

Also checking his sights, he turns towards Caleb. "You are one twisted fuck." He laughs jokingly, "hah, you know I'm onky kidding. Anyways, Sarge, how long until hell?"

"We got about 20 seconds till landing" I responded. I knew they were both woorried. They're just not gonna show it. I can't show cause that makes men worry more. When their leaders are worried they get worried.

 

Cpl. Franklin Victor

"Darren if I get shot in the ass I want you to be the one that carries" I said to Darren Strank. I was nervous as hell. Everyone is. "Darren you worried"

Strank looked at Garson with a questioning expression. "Me? Worried? Sarge, with all due respect, I've got little to worry about. I've seen enough shit in this war as it is, more than what any man can stomach, but worried? Hardly. And don't you worry, I'll carry you alright, but don't be expecting me to do all the work! If you can walk, or at least limp, then you'll have to. I've enough to carry with my Garand and kit bag here". With that, Strank looked at the soldiers accompanying him in the craft. Each shared mixed expressions, but none were scared. They had a job to do, and the description did not include running away. They were going to win this war, or die trying.
