What if the show wasn't exactly "My Little Pony?"

Simply, if the show had the same setting and character traits and plots and all that, but the show was originally intended to be it's own stand-alone show and not part of Hasbro's franchise, and the ponies weren't ponies and such, the target audience was more broad, and it aired on Cartoon Network, how would the show affect the world differently? Would you still like the show? Would people who didn't see the show not complain about liking something like it? Any other ideas?

Well, seasons 1-2 would be largely the same, as Faust would have worked on them regardless. However I think there would have been a lot more slower shift towards Twilight becoming a princess , as most of that was at the behest of Hasbro. Faust would not have quit the show, and would most likely still be leading it today. The show would be moderately darker, but other than that (and the changing of Celestia and Luna's titles to Queen) the should would have remained relatively the same to the seasons 1 and 2 we both love today. How the other seasons would have turned out is all just speculation, as the environment would have been so different from working at Hasbro.

I agree with pretty much everything M'iaq said and I have no problem laughing at darker humor when it's handled competently by a writer.

Some of the themes explored may also have been more mature considering Cartoon Network has become more risque with shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show as well as more intense action sequences.

With those variables, I have to say it could be a little better or a little worse from what I enjoy about the show-but, as long as the central themes stayed the same I'd probably enjoy it, regardless.

I like the show for what is is, not what the title says.

This right here.

And while the scenario given means the show would likely have some darker humor to it, I wouldn't mind. ( I would actually enjoy it. :smug:  )

I would like still like it. But it wouldn't be the same without ponies. Besides if it was on Cartoon Network they'd cancel it for a piece of shit show like the ones they have now.
