"Oh really, thanks Rampart. Heres yoyr pay." He drops a bag full of bits onto the bar and walks out, carrying hus hammer. "Time to hunt. I hope he puts up even half the fight as the papers say." As he walks towards the docks, he hears pones talking about the Arcane Raider and walks uo to the one walking away. "Hello, I heard part of your conversation, I am wondering, just who is this Arcane Raider? It seems you know of him and there will be payment fir your information."

Blixer watched Mirror Quake, peeking at him from behind the hull of a small ship. His ears pricked as he heard him ask a group of ponies about the Arcane Raider.

 

So he's actually searching for me. How interesting.

 

This changed everything. Perhaps he could use this new information to his advantage. He needed to keep the RPF ships at a distance.

 

If Mirror Quake's tracked the Arcane Raider here, that means there'll be ships searching for me all over the Sea of Tranquility. And there's only one route out of here to the Pellagic Sea. I refuse to let him get in the way of my job.

 

He turned around and headed for his ship. If Mirror Quake wanted information, he'd see to it that he get some.

Gloomfury took a drink of his bottle of whiskey and tune around to look at the stallion that called him a blank flank. Which made his eye twitch. He lets out some smoke out his nose from the cigar and gets up out of his stool. Then he walked over to the pony and stares at him right in the eye, not even caring about his minotaur buddies.  Then he chewed up his cigar and spit it right on the stallions hooves and look him right in the eye again with a half grin, which sowed off his sharp teeth.  "Watch who yer calling blank flank, ya little gob-shite." He takes another drink from his bottle.

Amber smiled as she collected her winnings and headed towards the bar, dodging the occasional flying bottle as she went. Hopping onto a barstool she pulled out a small compact mirror and looked into it, smiling as she checked her reflection. The short unruly mane was enough to keep most ponies from sparing a second glance, and the light charcoal powder applied to her chin dismissed any who did. Satisfied with her disguise she ordered a strong liquor from the hovering barkeep and turned towards the bustling tavern.

 

It had been an overall successful day in Amber's opinion, she had finally filled out her crew and gotten a nice payment for the yield of her latest "business". To top it all off she had won pretty big in blackjack, although the glares she was receiving from the stallions at the card table meant she would probably have to steer clear of Queenston for a little while if she didn't want a knife in her back. She was pulled from her thoughts by a disturbance further down the bar where some cocky stallion was picking fights he couldn't win, giving a slight chuckle she leaned back into barstool to watch the show.

 

((In case you didn't catch what I meant by the disguise, Amber is currently masquerading as a stallion, granted one with a slightly feminine physique. I am referring to her as a 'she' because I don't feel like playing the pronoun game, however to everybody else she is a he.))

"Well? I need this information so I can purge the seas of him, in the name of the princesses. Now out of curiosity, how much is he paying you to keep quiet? I am quite sure I can arrange for you to have triple payed to you. But you must tell me, after all, I am not a pony you want angry with you. The silver tsunami is known for her devastating attacks, I am quite sure you have heard of my ship. Now, just think what I do to thise who impede.me?"

Blixer walked up the plank to his ship deck. His crew was busy prepping the ship for launch.

 

"Keltzer!" he shouted.

 

A young, shifty earth pony slunk towards him. He stood slumped and stared down at the deck as Blixer addressed him.

 

"I've got a job for you Keltz. There's an RPF captain looking for the Arcane Raider."

 

"Oh yes. Haha Soren was talking about your new nickname."

 

"Well you'll still address me as captain."

 

"Whatever you say Blix." Keltzer scratched one of his legs as be waited for Blixer to continue.

 

"Well we can't have him looking for pirates around here or in the Pellagic Sea. It sure would be convenient if somebody could point him towards, oh I don't know, the Zebrican Sea?"

 

Keltzer nodded anxiously. "That can be arranged."

 

Blixer pointed in Mirror Quake's direction and Keltzer slid away eagerly towards the unsuspecting captain. He crept quickly along the boat dock, until he came upon Mirror Quake, who was busy questioning some other ponies.

"You're looking for the Arcane Raider, eh?" Keltzer asked, leaning against the hull of a boat. His dark body looked like a shadow against the wood. "I think I might be able to help you out."

"Niw that is a useful pony. But, how woukd I kniw that you are not orking for him? Oh well, I have a bit of info, but I need to know where and when he was.last seen. Also, where us he heading. Remember, I do not like liars. And I will not be the only one hunting you should I find out.otherwise."

Keltzer grinned nervously. "Now that's no way to show your gratitude. I'm risking my life here! Why, if the Arcane Raider ever found out I helped you, he'd have me hung for sure! But if you want to know, I have some, let's call them connections, here in Queenston. One of my connections has informed me of a job that the Arcane Raider is currently doing. Oh, darn it, the name of the ship slips my mind. Perhaps a little money will help me with my memory."

"Classic pirate. I will pay you 500 bits fir honest information. If I find out.you lied, well, you're dead as soon as I find you again. So, fair enough? Otherwise, I could.just start blasting through each of these boats until nothingbis left but burning timbers."

"500 bits, eh? Well now, I think it's all coming back to me. Yes, I remember. There's a boat from the Zebrican Confederation that's carrying some very precious cargo. Rare spice or something. Anyway, it's called the Striped Seahorse and is sailing for Garahnā. I know, it's a bit of a trip from here, but a fast ship just might be able to intercept one of those clunky old Zebra merchant ships in time. You can expect to find the Arcane Raider there, somewhere in the Zebrican Sea."

"I believe he just left from this very harbor. I reckon it'll take him a week or two to get there. I hear he has a very good ship. I don't know what you're sailing, but if the winds blow right you just might catch him. That's all I know at the moment. Are you satisfied?"

"Very well, but you forgot something, none of those boats that left have the mast head he is supposed to have. I am not stupid, care to try again? Even better, let us make it fun. He has one hour to be gone. The I will track him. Sound good? Because my boat can always take hm down before he even leaves. Whe somepony has a source, yu should be careful about what you say. Enjoy the gold. And warn him." Walking away, he boards his ship. "Crew, we are going to hunt a new pony today. Get me a map, I need to find out where he will go in his hour."

Keltzer stood there, stunned. He watched Mirror Quake walk away, then darted away. He hadn't even thought of the figurehead. Blixer probably hadn't either.

 

 

"Damn it!" Blixer shouted. Keltzer shrank away fearfully. Blixer shook his head. "The damn cheetah head. I can't believe I never thought that somepony might report that. This is why I leave no survivors, understand? It's either them or us and I plan on living quite a bit longer."

 

First officer Ash looked on from the far end of the cabin. "So what do you intend to do about this?" he asked.

 

Blixer rubbed his head and sighed. "Mirror Quake is too close. He needs to be dealt with."

 

"Short-term solution," Soren remarked from the doorway. "There will be others like him. Even if we escape here, we're going to need to do something about that figurehead. It needs to be removed."

 

"Agreed," Blixer said. "How fast can we remove it and have the wood patched up?"

 

"A couple days," Ash answered.

 

"But Mirror Quake will have noticed us working on the ship by then," Keltzer added. "If we're gonna get out of this one, we need to eliminate him."

 

"Or get a different ship," Blixer replied. The others stared questioningly at him. "There's plenty of captains around here who'd lend us their ship. Djason gave us 8,000 bits for the last job. I'll offer half of that and see if I can't swap boats with somepony for awhile."

 

The others nodded in agreement. It was a solid plan. And with any luck, Mirror Quest just might arrest another pony. Or with even more luck, he might just get himself killed in the process.

 

Blixer hurried off the ship carrying the money and headed back to the tavern.

Rampart raised an eyebrow at the pirate spitting on him, but other than that showed nosignthat he was even aware of it. He simply pulled a pony from hos seat and used his mane wipe the spit and the cigar off of his hoof. "Now, now...we are all friends here...hence the reason all my troops are still aboard the Unity Blade. I only called you a blank flank because you offended me by shoving my workers and also because I do not know your name. All I know about you is that I saw tbat you are a blank flank...which is nothing to get upset about". All the while he was speaking, he never drew his weapons, relying instead upon his way with words to resolve the issue peacefully so that he would not have to kill any tavern patrons.

Thunder though for a moment. "Perhaps i can show you my ship? Maybe that'd give you more confidence that this partnership would be a good idea." Thunder said. He womdered what ship Hurricane had. Would it be a big one, small one? He had no idea what Hurricane was sailing.

On his boat, he addresses his crew. "The Arcane Raider is here in the ports, I want him found. Do not.harm him, this is thr one safe zone. I am.not prepared to lose my contacts over one pathetic pirate. I want six of you to go to the taver. Mirror Image, I want you to cast Illusions of me all iver the city. i want him terrified so he makes mistakes. And finally you two, he says pointing at two mares go talk to that crime lord and see what you can dig up. You six, cimewith me, we need to talk to my old friend."

Blixer saw Mirror Quake walking down the street away from him. Must be careful, he thought.

 

He quickly made his way to the tavern and entered into the bar. He looked around, trying to spy a familiar face, but found no one.

 

He saw a lone pony with a brown mane and leather vest sitting at the bar and he went over to check him out,

 

"Give me a hard Apple Cider and another round for my friend here," Blixer ordered the bartender. He turned to the pony next to him.

After talking to his crew and sending out the illusions, Mirror Quake and six if his crew walk into the tavern. Walking uo to the bar, ignoring the rest of the bar, ge walks uo to Rampart Charger. "Hey, I need an extra ship and crew fir this. The dambed pirates already tried tricking me, but I have them. I will explain in a more private setting, ok?" As he turns to leave, he hits and knocks over Blixer, but doesn't recognize him. "Oh sorry about that, let me pay for your drink to make up for it." He says, droping twenty bits on the counter.

"The second I notice something not right, is the second you will regret turning on me." she said with a serious look. Then, Hurricane lightened up her expression a little. "Now, where is your fine piece of drift wood?" she joked.

Rampart shrugged at the request. "Whatever...Storm Strafe prepare all forces to set sail!", he yelled to his first matewho was still aboard the Unity Blade. "You got it", hollared back Storm Strafe to the captain. "Supplies are stored and the men are rready for war". Rampart turned back to Mirrorquake. "Lets get this done...I have a scedule to keep, ya know".

Thunder smiled. "Aye. That seems a fair deal. Come, i will show you my ship." Thunder flew back to the ground and started making his way to The Golden Unicorn. "This here would be my ship." Thunder said proudly as they walked by it. "21 cannons on each side, capable of taking on the biggest ships out there." Thunder said, looking at his ship.

Blixer kept his head down as Mirror Quake walked away. For the first time in a long while, he felt scared. Not of the gallows, he thought. No, he was scared that Mirror Quake would ruin everything he had worked for the last few moons. He had to do something, had to make a move soon. His hoof tapped the floor anxiously as he waited for the pony at the bar to answer him.
