ggg-2 3,553 August 7, 2014 Share August 7, 2014 Should they really? She's an alicorn yes, and a Princess of Equestria, yes, but so is Twilight, and Cadance is one of Twilight's oldest and dearest friends, as well as her sister-in-law. On top of that, I think it's clear that Cadance doesn't really like formalities, just like Twilight. 1 Don't be a nerd. Join the herd!
boiteporte 591 August 7, 2014 Share August 7, 2014 (edited) Well, if Cadence does not like ponies to be formal then, of course, they should not. However, even if they are Twilight's friends, that does not necessarily means that they are Cadence's friends. So, unless Princess Cadence specifically asks them not to be formal, they should stay formal. EDIT : She is Twilight's sister in law as well, but I don't know if that is enough though. I still think they should stay formal. Edited August 7, 2014 by boiteporte
ggg-2 3,553 August 7, 2014 Author Share August 7, 2014 @ boiteporte In Games Ponies Play, when Cadance sees Twilight and her friends she says "there are my girls!", so I'm fairly certain she's friends with them, too. 1 Don't be a nerd. boiteporte 591 August 7, 2014 Share August 7, 2014 I guess so. But even if she is informal to Twilight's friends, the same does not necessarily apply in the other way. Or maybe, they can be formal in public but don't have to be in private.
AnonBrony 1,468 August 7, 2014 Share August 7, 2014 I suppose not. I guess they don't have to unless it's so official public thing. But it's up to the writers whether they should formal or not. I mean they may be friends but's not like they see her every day like they do with Twilight and they also haven't known her as long as they have known Twilight. Wander 125 August 7, 2014 Share August 7, 2014 I don't believe so. I think everyone should be formal to the princesses at parties and such, but when alone I don't think the bow and fancy fancy talk would be needed.
Pastel 7,630 August 12, 2014 Share August 12, 2014 (edited) No, they're friends with her too, if Twilight isn't formal with her, then her friends shouldn't be formal either. Edited August 12, 2014 by Blobulle
ShadowPirateX 600 August 12, 2014 Share August 12, 2014 I don't think they have to. Perhaps they want to adress Cadance in a formal manner? "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" ~ Optimus Prime
silvadel 1,393 August 12, 2014 Share August 12, 2014 I think it is more how very close Cadance is to Twilight that keeps them at an arms distance. I mean here you have her foalsitter and the wife of her brother. Cadance and Twilight have a special bond, and calling her Princess is a way to subtly not intrude on that. 1 Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight. Zefir 34 August 13, 2014 Share August 13, 2014 So, Twilight/Cadence: -Both are princesses, so there is no difference in authority here. -They know each other since Twilight's fillyhood. -Cadence is Twilight's sister-in-law. Family, another step closer than others. It's natural for Twilight to speak non-formally with Cadence, as they are really close together and share the same social position. Twilight's best friends are not Cadences best friends. She isn't personally close with them. Besides she is still far higher than them, when it comes to position. Even though they are the Elements of Harmony, they still respect the social order as it is. They are heroes, not alicorn royalty like Twilight. Princess Periwinkle 3,775 August 13, 2014 Share August 13, 2014 Echoing what some have already mentioned, Cadance doesn't like formalities. She expressly stated that she just wanted to be called Cadance, not Princess Mi Amore Cadenza. Doesn't make any sense to be formal with her then, does it?

Anilewe 2,178 August 15, 2014 Share August 15, 2014 (edited) In my opinion they feel obligated to be formal with Cadence. They don't know her as good as Twilight does and even though they saved Equestria so many times and practically deserve to be treated as royalty - they were raised as normal ponies, who are supposed to treat princesses with respect. Also, some habits are very hard to change. I mean, just look at Twilight! She's a princess now, but she still tried to bow before Cadence and refuses to call Celestia without her title. Mane 6 are rather modest and even though they're heroes and should be respected and praised for everything they did, they don't really make a big deal out of it. From their perspective, they did what they had to do and that's it. Edited August 15, 2014 by Anilewe 1 Fan of Applejack? Join us! We have the best cider from Sweet Apple Acres!
