What if Celestia had a foal?

Wait! Don't go! Hear me out....

 

I don't like to be one of "those people" who try and romanticize MLP characters and push pairing headcanons on anyone...because I don't have one (although I do support the IDW comic canon of Somlestia's romantic relationship, I guess) And while I've seen my fair share of fanart with somepony- in this case, Celestia- being a mother to foals or dragonlings or draqonequis...lings...? Never have I been more interested in Celestia bearing offspring of any kind, until I read a certain, well-written, emotion envoking fanfiction (which i don't tend to do often)

Now let me make this perfectly clear- in no way do I think that Celestia should- in canon, my headcanon, alt canon, whatever- physically become mother to a child from her own womb. No. Just no. I'm perfectly satisfied with how her character has been developed; how she longs for family and adopts ponies as her own, like Cadance and Blueblood, and how she considers everypony "my (her) little ponies", showing them the same motherly kindness even though they aren't her biological offspring. She's lived long enough, and is wise, caring, nurturing, ect. enough to be mother, aunt, what have you, to them all.

 

But who's to say that she might not dream of having an actual foal of her own? Would her desires manifest so strongly that this foal manifested through her powers and only existed in Luna's dream aether? If Luna controlled that domain and could pass freely through it, do you think she would allow Celestia's dream-created foal to do the same, and meet its mother in the physical world? Do you think if such an occurrence were to happen, that the foal would be like any other pony, once out of Luna's dream aether, and be able to exist normally (of course, it wouldn't be revealed to anyone that it was Celly's kid, and probably be sent off to another family somewhere, for them to raise), or do you think it would only manage to sustain itself with physical form outside Luna's dream realm through her powers?

Makes me wonder if she can even bear a foal due to her unique Alicorn physique. Maybe if she conjured a foal through sheer magic or something, i just can't imagine her giving birth for some reason (but that's just me).

I don't think she could handle a foal, honestly. She has a LOT on her plate. And Luna would be just as busy. And Twilight.  And Rarity. And all the mane 6.

Well, it would depend on whoever her mate were to be. I doubt she could actually conjure one with magic. The "Journal of the Two Sisters" says that alicorns aren't that much different from the other races; aside from the fact that they age differently and their magic works differently from the rest.

 

Let's say she ended up having a foal with the AU Sombra. Said foal could either be a unicorn or an alicorn; I would think.

 

Of course, this is something I doubt we'll ever see.

So you are okay with Celestia having a baby via magic but not the old fashioned way and adoption wasn't even mentioned as far as I can tell? Okay then, well if Celestia had a foal whatever the means it certainly would be quite interesting. I do think Celestia has a motherly side and I could see her maybe wanting a baby but might be reluctant due to the immortal/long lived thing and of course the same would go with her perhaps finding a mate though luckily she has the royal guards for that (couldn't resist that joke).

 

In all seriousness though I don't see what the point would be show wise at least though it is great fanfic fodder, I would probably see Cadence and Shining Armor as a tad more likely to be doing a bit of baby making though I am sure once they do that Celestia will probably have a good relationship with the young foal as well.
