Nico 790 November 9, 2011 Share November 9, 2011 So, I deductively noticed something odd about the introduction segments of MLP:FiM between the first and second seasons... As I'm sure everypony knows, season 1 has Twilight drop off in standard ponyville from the hot air balloon and walk past a pony who looks like a yellow Big Mac. In season 2 they changed ponyville up a bit, adding a TRAIN directly through it and replacing senor Mac & Cheese with the real Big Macintosh, among other things. These differences were no doubt noticed by lots of ponies. However, the oddity that I find is that these differences didn't take effect in season two until the third episode, Lesson Zero. So, for the first two episodes of the season, S2 had the same intro as S1, but after that it's been different. For anypony who hasn't noticed the difference, I am attaching a screenshot of a S1/S2E1&2 intro on the left and a normal S2 intro on the right to see the differences. Lady Rarity Pony 4,892 November 9, 2011 Share November 9, 2011 I didn't realize that it didn't switch until S2 Ep3. I wonder if that was story related or if the new intro wasn't ready. Fghik 360 November 9, 2011 Share November 9, 2011 I was waiting for a new theme for season two. When the first two episodes aired I thought maybe there wouldn't be a new theme. Then the third came, with a new theme. Which really makes me think the first to episodes really WERE meant to be season finales of season one (sure I suspected it when it was a big flashback episode and a major villain and all...but season two needed to start with something) If you listen closely, it even sounds a bit different. I can't really explain it, but it sounds there's more "magic." Also at the end of the new theme the photo glimmers a bit. 1 But what do I know? I'm just a stupid kid. ҉ .Eternal ¸.•'´¯Chaos¯´'•.¸Comes¸.•'´¯With¯´'•.¸Chocolate¸.•'´¯Rain ҉
Scritches 92 November 9, 2011 Share November 9, 2011 I didn't realize that it didn't switch until S2 Ep3. I wonder if that was story related or if the new intro wasn't ready. I believe it was Laruen Faust who informed everyone of this, but the first episodes of Season 2 were actually made along with the rest of Season 1 and they were supposed to be a possible series finale in the event that the show was not renewed for a second season. Since it was renewed for a second season they were moved to the beginning of Season 2 and the real Season 2 episodes started with "Lesson Zero". If you listen closely, it even sounds a bit different. I can't really explain it, but it sounds there's more "magic." Also at the end of the new theme the photo glimmers a bit. Alot of the guitar part was replaced with a piano part that aside there seemed to be a rebalancing of the various parts of the tune over all.
Jeremy 128 November 9, 2011 Share November 9, 2011 Just an interesting image I've seen around the internet in response to that comparison you showed there. A ponified? Madame Foster from Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, another cartoon Faust designed the characters for, can be seen in the first car of the train (don't know 100% if it's actually her but the glasses are a giveaway). Just thought I'd share this if anyone hasn't already noticed/seen it. And I agree with the above posts that they were likely unsure whether or not they would create a second season at the time. PonyFan123 7 November 9, 2011 Share November 9, 2011 Yeah, I noticed the new segment in the theme song too. The song does sound a little bit different.
LyraHeartstrings 482 November 10, 2011 Share November 10, 2011 Maybe they'll change it each season. They might have a different rendition of the theme song each time! Now, shows usually don't change more than once, but it could happen... Why are you dragging your cursor over my signature? Is there a problem here? Do you maybe expect something special? Honestly, that's kind of creepy. Are you trying to get as much information about me as possible? Maybe you're going to copy and paste this into onto your little collage or all things Lyra? (me, not the awesome BG pony...) You seriously have issues dude... I pity you.
Lady Rarity Pony 4,892 November 12, 2011 Share November 12, 2011 The Season 2 intro sounds weird, it's like more instrumental at the beginning or whatever the term is LRP's opinions are subject to change without notice.
