movies/tv Is kill la kill any good?

I just finished the first episode of Kill la kill and I'm not sure whether I want to continue watching it.

On the one hand I love the expressive, lively animation and the cartoon influences on the story/ action scenes.... Buuuuut dat uniform..... >_>

The pointless fan service has kind of put me off, I love everything else about this show (so far) but I wish I didn't have to see some of the girls half naked. (I guess I'm not the target market for that...)

I don't mind fan service as long as it has a point and isn't just their to objectify the characters, and their needs to be a great story to go along with it. I don't watch anime for the animated tits basically.

So to any Kill la Kill fans out there, based on what I've just said should I keep watching this anime?

Well, I havent read Kill la Kill myself...yet. But from my experience with anime/manga, which is a lot, I've learned that the manga counterpart is almost always better. But for what it's worth, I heard that the anime is great.

I'v seen a quite a few episodes of Kill la Kill and I can absolutely 100% percent tell you that you probably wont like it.

The show itself has a really screwed up story (like super messed up).

Ya might like this series if your a nudist, because there is a lot of skin that gets shown. Like A LOT of skin. :eww:  But no actual sexual body parts (thank goodness).

There's also a lot of fanservice. But the series does explain why the main character's outfit is so... revealing.

I wouldn't really recommend the series, any anime out there can give you a better story with much less... disturbing content.

The fanservice is basically parody-level at first, don't worry about it. :P

Kill la Kill is a great anime beyond that layer though. The story, characters, action, and soundtrack are all super top-notch imo. :D

Kill la Kill is a rollercoaster. Yes, fanservice is rampant and yes, it can get rather silly, but that's the charm of it. The fanservice doesn't degrade characters and they treat it pretty well (save about 3 comments overall), and there's even some "manservice" in there too. The plot was great, and I still remember almost each episode, so it was very memorable. I sure enjoyed it. The OVA was really nice!

So overall, I say you should watch until at least episode 5 before making you decision on dropping it or not.

Never heard of it. But I can tell you that the Hellsing OVA is awesome.

I loved the newer Hellsing anime, especially the last three episodes, soooo badass!

hmmm see now I'm curious about what the disturbing content is haha

though I have to admit it's a shame her outfit isn't explained a little bit further...

I think i'll take your advice and see how i feel by episode 5 :D thanks for explaining stuff to me about the fan service, the fact a lot of people seem to think the story is good makes me want to watch more.

Yeah there is a lot of fanservice but that's basically the whole point of it

It does it on a comedic level really

the whole plot pretty much revolves around it

hmm well that sounds okay to me...

It was pretty over the top to be honest and reflecting back on the first episode I can see what people mean when they call it a parody. It didn't exactly come across as sexy to me (but then what do I know haha)

I hate fanservice when it's just a detraction in the background, that always puts me off of an anime (high school of the dead is a good example of this) from what I'm hearing here Kill la Kill is a bet different.

(oh you're username is A+++ btw)

the fanservice in kill la kill isnt really there to be sexually appealing, it' s more or less parodistical in its nature.( for example, how everyone's nose starts to bleed as soon as the main character shows a bit too much skin)

at least that's how i feel about it.

anyway, i can recommend the anime if you like extremely silly, over the top action. dont expect too much from the story, though.

I didn't really find the fanservice to be that bothersome, personally. It was so gratuitous and silly that anything sexual took a backseat, and there're shows that reveal a lot less that somehow managed to be more sensual. Which isn't to say that it's the sort of show you want to watch in any kind of public setting ^_^

As for the show itself, I liked it. Story didn't really deliver like I was hoping it would, but it's infectiously fun and keeps you interested in seeing how they'll top the last funky thing they've done. If you're looking for something to think about or relate to, you might be better off looking for something else. KLK is kinda like junk food in cartoon form, but junk food has its place too. It's better if you've seen Gurren Lagann and other things that the makers of KLK have worked on, and you can let the nostalgic excitement wash over you.

One thing this show does amazing with is its character themes :D. Each one is so fitting and memorable.
