Book slowly woke up and stretched. He looked around and remembered that he was there because last night when Blitz passed out from lack of sleep. He looked at Dexterous and considered looking to see if Blitz was still there but decided not to. Book kinda wanted some coffee but decided he'd be fine without it.

"Ah, I see you're awake."

 

The doctor from yesterday came over to Book Quill, giving him a smile and generally looking a lot less worried than he did last night when he last saw him.

 

"I considered waking you up, but you seemed like you needed the rest. Are you feeling well? Dizzy? Famished? Any discomfort from where you slept?"

 

The doctor in him took over as he tried to make sure if Book were okay. He doubted there was anything actually wrong, but it was nice to make sure.

"Awesome possum." She said with a big smile, happy that Brittle was warming up to her. "Well you guys know what fairy rings are, right? They are when a bunch of mushrooms grow in a circle. Their are old folktales saying that they are portals to another world, others say that if you step into one the devil will take your soul. After hearing and reading about them I decided to go out and find out for myself. It took me a whole day to find one. And I didn't get any sleep the day before so I was pretty worn out. So to tempt fate  a little bit, I fell asleep in the fairy ring. And lets just say it was fates time of the month." Mezra chuckled at her own joke.

 

"When I woke up I found myself in a whole new world. I fell asleep in in a swampy forest and woke up in a beautiful forest. There were flowers every where and the grass was so green it almost looked fake. After getting my thing I set out to look around and find out where I was. It took me about another day to find civilization, and for a good reason too. The city was so well hidden that of course it would be hard to find. That and it was tiny. I stumbled upon the capital city of the fairies! " Mezra raised her hooves up to use for emphasis. 

 

"Now I know what you're thinking. 'She's lost her mind a was only imagining seeing a city of fairies.' Well you're only half right." She chuckled again. "But no, it was real. I know, I pinched my arm till I couldn't feel it to see if I was dreaming. When I was sure I wasn't I got a little closer to the city. And boy, when they saw me, I almost wished they were screaming, Mezzilla! But they were just screaming. After calming them down by doing a few tricks and giving them some candy I had. They started to like me and I was introduced to  Titania queen of the fairies. She was really nice and her voice was so beautiful. I mean it would put Celestia's to shame. After talking to her I find out I was on a world called, Folkearth. And that there were tons of other being besides fairies living there. There were things called elves. They're tall and they walk on two legs and they have pointy ears. Them along with, humans, dwarves and a few other not some friendly races live there. So of course I wanted to see more. And I found out they also had magic so I learned a new spell or two, or three while I was there." Mezra then started digging in her bag till she found a large rope of red licorice.

 

She put it around her neck and took off a piece  and chewed on it. "So for about  six months I traveled around the city. Another thing I learned was there where also unicorns there bu they were super rare. So a good bit of neerdowells tried to catch and trap me to sell or something. But I hold my own. I later met a unicorn when I was taking a shortcut though a forest. She was white as the snow and twice the size of a normal pony, But she couldn't speak in any language. But luckily knew a spell that would let me understand her. I learn that her name was Amalthea and that she was a guardian of the forest. Meaning she watched over things. Then she offered to take me to a powerful wizard named, Esrius. who could send me back to Equestria. It had been about seven months since I woke up there and I thought it was time for me to head home. The wizard also lived in the forest so it didn't take us long to get there. After talking him into teaching me a few more new spells, he opened a portal back to the fairy ring I fell asleep in. I walked though and landed back were I was. But things were kinda different. I head for Baltimare to see if things there were also different, and they were.  As it turns out the timeline where and the timeline in Folkearth go at different speeds. And instead of landing in Equestria seven months later. I landed in Equestria..." She paused for suspense. "80 years later! So yeah, I'm technically 2,000 years old. " She hold of a piece of the red rope licorice to them. "Licorice?"

Storm arrived at Blitz's little hut to see somepony poking around. "Hiya!" He exclaimed. "Are you one of Blitz's friends? My name's Storm Shine! But you can just call me Storm!" Storm introduced. "By the way, do you know where Blitz went? I was hoping to give her some of the latest batch of my new muffin recipe..." He asked hopefully.

Book looked at the doctor. "I'm alright... Just a bit tired still. And a bit sore but it makes sense..." Book said casually and stretched a bit more, looking around and at the doctor. "Is Blitz still here or did she already leave?" He asked, wanting to make sure he wasn't there for nothing. He glanced at Dexterous but disregarded him for the most part since he knew it was alright.

Briar respectfully said no the the offered liquorice while Brittle just shook her head a little in her own no.

 

It wasn't that he didn't like candy, it was more than currently, common sense told him to not attempt to eat anything this pony offered him, and he was going to go by that currently.

 

He had been interested to know of the tale she had, but after hearing it, he were getting doubtful about it's validity and the state of the mare that had told it. Or in cruder terms, he was getting certain the mare in question were either making things up to make it sound more grand, or were a little crazy.

 

The Faerie part he would go as far as to believing. He had heard stories, but would not go out and search as he thought it held little meaning for him to hunt for those faerie rings. After that though... The story began to crack in places.

 

First off was the fact that if she had really travelled to another world, then how did she know the language? The possibility of two different worlds using the exact same language were questionable at best, which also made him certain it was not possible for her to have read and learned spells.

 

That was another thing too, the mention of learning spells. While he knew that Unicorns could learn new things, it was within a certain margin as their magical focus were not that wide ranged. It was in general simply Telekinesis, and then a specialised form which, considering what he had experienced before, would be Fire in the case of Mez. Perhaps also Light, as he had heard there were few cases where a secondary speciality could occur, but beyond that you would have to be one of the princesses or magic itself to range all over the place.

 

The part about the unicorn guardian and the magician she could believe, as some unicorns could use teleportation spells, but then came the last bit that made little sense: The scale of time. Not the *7 Months one place were 80 years in another*, that part could technically be true from what little he understood of the really brainy types, but where did it then make sense that Mez was 2000 years old? She would have been around before the immortal princesses were even princesses, in which case she would have to be effectively immortal as well, in which case she should have been a far larger pony than what he could feel.

 

Besides, Humans? Everypony knew that was just an old wife's tale for little fillies and colts.

 

Briar kept silent though. It was not his place to attack the story she had told, even if he couldn't believe it in it's whole.

Chipper turned around to see another young lad with a pair of wings. Seems like the word of the day were Pegasus, which he didn't mind really. He were around 'em most of the time at home anyway, so why not when wandering around a bit too?

 

"Well ain't you a happy lad. Name's Steadd Pace, but everypony just calls me Chipper. Good to meet ya."

 

He raised his hat in greeting after introducing himself.

 

"Can't say if I'm the lil' ones friend, as I just met her today, but she seemed mighty friendly.

 

'fraid you're a bit late in it though mate, the lil' critter's sleeping it out on the hospital in Ponyville. Doc said that she'd be all right, but needed a good, long nap to replenish the batteries again. I just came 'round to see if the place were locked up, which it wasn't. Mighty depressing sight what's inside the shed though, ain't a single photo or anything there."

Mezra shrugged and out a piece in her mouth and started eating it. "I was 23 when I went in but I had a birth day in the other world so I came out 24. After I got over the shell shock I went on a few more adventures and got stuck in some more gunk that plopped me a few more years later. But I was to lazy to do the math so I just set it at 2,000. But I'm really 25. So don't go thinking I'm immortal. The last time I let someone think that I was almost sent to Celestia to be interrogated or dissected or something. But a good mind wipe spell helped me out of that pickle. ... Hmm, I got a taste for pickles now. I like those little ones. They look  so cute and and taste sweet." SHe ad a smile on her face while she happily eat her licorice, imagining it was a long pickle.

Storm gasped, "Blitz's in the hospital!?" He exclaimed with no small amount of worry. "I'd better go visit her and makesure she's okay! and maybe give her some muffins..." Storm continued, flaring his wings, though he paused. "Blitz never really locks up, the animals around here are too scared of her explosives to come around here... She's got amnesia or something, so she's been living out here for quite a while... Though she seems quite happy thankfully.." Storm threw the quick explanation over his should to Chipper before flying towards Ponyville's Hospital.

Landing in front of the hospital, Storm walked inside and quickly trotted up to the receptionist. "Excuse me, but which room is Blitz Boom in?" He asked worriedly.

"I don't believe in immortality myself. I see it as everypony and everything being part of a cycle, and eventually, that cycle has to end..

 

It can take days or thousands of years, but eventually, everything that lives must eventually die and return to the earth. Even those we think will always be there."

 

Briar went silent for a little and listened to Wez eating her candy before shaking his head and getting a small smirk on his face.

 

"Heh, pardon that. Where I'm from, we have to contemplate when we think our time is done and then go willingly back into the soil, so I'm used to thinking in lines such as this. It's oddly comforting after a while to think about the absolutes of the end really. Gives ample time to accept the inevitable.

 

And I must agree with you. Pickles are rather tasty, especially served with a little fish."

When Storm flied off Chipper scratched his chin again. So the lil' one had amnesia, and the security wasn't a problem because of the explosives...  Made an odd sort of sense, as that would explain why there was nothing personal in the shed and likely not in the hut either. Was a bit weird though that she couldn't remember where she was from, but all of this bombing things were ingrained. The kid must have some kind of impulsive brain on her shoulders to make this work, but what did he know? He just met her today after all.

 

At the hospital the receptionist looked up at Storm. She had Heterochromia ((two different coloured eyes)) but otherwise didn't stand out amongst the other ponies.

 

"Blitz Boom. Blitz Boom... Ah yes, the filly with the bomb cutie mark. You will find her down that hall-"

 

The mare pointed a hood towards the one the filly had been brought to the last night.

 

"-third door on the right. It is the little one saying occupied. It shouldn't be locked."

 "There is a a way to bring the dead back and live forever. It's not that hard really. But most ponies feelings are set in stone when it comes to dying. The dead should stay dead and blah blah blah. But I'm a Necromancer, so my way of thinking is different.  And the one of the ways I know how to live forever is to become a Liche."

Storm smiled, "Thanks!" He replied, about to leave before pausing. "And cool eyes! I have Heterochromia too!" He complimented with a grin, before running off to find Blitz. Arriving at the door, Storm knocked before opening the door. "Blitz?" He called. "Are you okay?"

Book nodded. Book noticed Storm going in. "Not a good idea to be going in right now, she needs to be sleeping as much as she can. Blitz doesn't really know that she needs sleep as much as she actually does..." Book said, trying to stop him from making a mistake.

"Oh, er sorry I totally forgot to introduce myself I'm Storm Shine, I'm not sure if we met before or not, I tend to ramble on at times, or go into things without thinking, and the fact that I found out that Blitz was admitted to the hospital has made me pretty worried.. I made her these muffins with a new recipe hoping that she'd be happy to try them, and then I get to her place and see somepony else there and they told me that Blitz was in the hospital and so I flew over here as fast as possible to check and make sure she was okay.." Storm gestured to the aforementioned muffins when he got to that part, and took a big gulp of air after his long rant.

 

"Sorry, I tend to ramble extra when I'm worried, or excited... I was afraid she got into another explosives accident.. Though I really thought I got through to her the last time I reminded her that she still needs her sleep too..." Storm informed the other pony apologetically, looking down and rubbing a hoof against his neck feeling slightly embarrassed.

He looked at the muffins. "Are they good?" He asked, realizing that he was pretty hungry and thought about last time he had food. "Agh, sorry... I just haven't eaten in a while and I just got up so you understand that food sounds good right now..." He apologized, shaking his head to try and get the idea of muffins out of his head.

Metaphorically speaking, though blitz would love it to be literal, I'm sure.." He explained with grin and a chuckle.

"I have no idea what a Liche is, and considering what little I know of Necromancy I think I would be better off being spared of the details.

 

That being said, eternity is improbable to survive in my mind as it relies on the idea that both your mind and your body can manage for that long without any accidents. Even if your mind can manage and your body not wither away, the element of uncertainty that is the future means that there is always something that could, potentially, end things.

 

This is not even taking into factors such as others leading an attack or a new disease rising, but I would rather not dwell on that part. It's rather disheartening to think that ones end can come from being hunted down or from a tiny bacteria."

 

Briar shook his head a little.

 

"But I ramble again it seems. The point I was trying to make was simply that since we don't know what will happen, it is statistically impossible to last forever. It might take thousands of years, or a few seconds, we never know."

Mezra listened to what Briar had to say without interrupting. "You make a fair point. And Necromancy isn't super hard to understand. A Liche is when someone binds their soul to their body. We all know that the soul is one of the only things that live on forever, and I mean forever ever. But sadly bodies can't. When you're a Liche you'll still be a live and have all your thoughts and knowledge and a little more magical power then what you had where you were alive. But your body well rot and decompose like a normal dead body. It a very long process to become one though."

Storm laughed, "I'd better tell her that it's not a real bomb then, huh?" He chuckled. "I don't think she'll try to light it after that... Anyways if you want one, here.... They aren't likely to last if Blitz gets to them like she usually does..." Storm informed Book with another chuckle, offering him the bomb shaped muffin.

"Might be funny to see her reaction though." Book laughed. "That is, if she tried to light it anyways." Book smiled. He took the muffin and started to eat it. "Thanks. This is really good." Book said happily, eating more of the muffin. This would be really good with some coffee right now too... He thought as he ate.

Storm smiled, "Thanks.. It's an experimental recipe, so I'm glad it turned out well..." He replied happily. "Maybe I'll try and make one she can light later? Maybe have it explode with cupcake batter...? No, no... Maybe...? Hmm..."  Storm mumbled to himself for a moment. "Nah, the cakes already told Blitz that's a bad idea.. They'd probably lecture me on wasting batter... And if I used confetti, Pinkie would probably get a tad upset at contaminating baked goods with non-edible items..." He chuckled, cutting the idea off before it could take root. "I really hope Blitz feels better soon..." Storm said worriedly, pushing his goggles down to hang around his neck. "I keep telling her to be careful.. Though I'm really glad it's not another bomb incident... That last big accident broke her horn, you know..." He Informed Book with a small frown. "Thankfully it does seem to be growing back."

"It is not because I don't understand Necromancy, it is rather that what I have learned about it does not fill me with a lot of... Shall we say comfort? With all due respect to present company, of course."

 

The news of what a Liche was did not make Briar's opinion about everything inevitably ending sway, but he kept it to himself. There were not a whole lot of situations where discussing the hypothetical finer points on what souls were, what happened when you died and whatever or not there were an afterlife helped the mood. Mostly it lead to headaches and shouting in his experience.

 

"I'll try and keep in mind what you have mentioned though. It may prove useful at some point."

Because of that the magic is just kind of... contained... in her body, and I believe that instead of allowing it to bottle up and potentially burst or stop producing magic, her body is subconsciously using the excess magic to rebuild her horn. It's likely a lot easier for her than it would be for an adult unicorns, since her body is still growing. an adult unicorn might not be able to regrow their horn because of the fact that they have finished growing, though I could be wrong..." He explained thoughtfully.

"So her horn growing back is similar to a volcano rebuilding itself?" He asked comparing it. "It aslo could be that she's still growing, like you said before." Book said, thinking. He put a hoof to his chin as he thought about how the horn could be growing back. "She also said that if it was broken to the very stub of the horn, it wouldn't grow back." Book said.
