Today,today can mean something different to anypony. Like, maybe today is the start of your first day of school. Would that be a good today or a bad today? Well, that's the thing - sometimes you might not know. The world is filled with questions that only you can answer.
Let me tell you a story. It is about me, Emerald Sheen, and of course my friends. But more importantly it's about you. The readers, audience, listeners-whatever!
Just enjoy this little taste of my private life.

[Rebel the Wolfgirl 5,601]

Renegade strolled around Ponyville, taking in the sights and sounds of a brand new day. Levitating a small book from his saddlebags, he began humming as he opened the book and started to read. Soon, the humming became mumbling, and the mumbling in turn, became a song:

 

"In the shadow of the valley,

I would like to settle down..."

Many things happen over the course of time. First words, Which lead to your first lesson. But somewhere in your lifetime you will experience your first kiss. Most mares get theirs when they are in elementary school. But not me. It didn't seem to ever happen to me at all. Don't get me wrong I'm not embarrassed by it. I'm just looking for the right stallion. Fortunately, that stallion was standing just two feet away from me. And I didn't even know it.

Renegade continued walking, unaware that his first kiss would soon come. As he turned the pages of his novel, he continued to sing:

 

"...A distant horizon,

 

The moon on the crest

 

in the shadow of the valley

 

that I love best."

 

As the words poured out like a calm river, he took a breath then continued, his voice sounding smooth, silky and warm:

 

"You have always waited for me,

And you always will be there.

 

Sage brush and pine

 

Old friends of mine.

 

A little bit further, 

 

I will find my rest.

 

In the shadow of the valley

 

that I love best."

And neither did I. All I did notice about him that day was his song. A song that would eventually be our song. As I headed home and lay my head on my pillow. The song replayed itself inside my head as I drifted.

The next day was my first day at my new school. I was starting school at Crystal University. I'm a college mare.

ZE NEXT DAY...

 

Renegade got up out of bed, and did usual morning stuff. Packing a suitcase, he was about to head off to Crystal University to begin his studies in archaeology. Some days...are your first days. the unicorn thought to himself. Soon afterwards, he arrived at the train station to board a train headed for the Crystal Empire.

Crystal University was a large 3-story building made out entirely of Rainbow Crystal. The dorms were separated by gender, so mares and colts could not be roommates. Emerald was in her own dorm when Renegade arrived. Emerald was majoring in earth magic (Earth pony magic). She had met her roommate, Acrylic Sketch (One of my OCs) who was majoring in art. Emerald ly on her bed tired and exhausted from her journey here. Thinking about how big of a change this was going to be. Emerald looked over at Acrylic. She was holding the door open and talking to two ponies that Emerald didn't recognize. One of them looked just like Acrylic, except she dressed all dark and scary. And the other pony was a sky blue pony with sunshine colored mane. The sky-blue colored pony glanced over at Emerald with a look of disgust. "No way are we inviting her."  she said a bit to loud making acrylic blush and me curious.

Acrylic glared at her friend and mouthed the word 'idiot' then turned to me. "Sorry about that. I'm hosting a party tonight. Want to come?" I considered this, then nodded.

Acrylic sighed like she had been wishing for  no. "Great! It's in the school gym see ya there!"

Renegade walked to his dorm, but stopped when he overheard two mares discussing a party happening that night. "A party?" Renegade said to himself. "Maybe I'll go there and make some friends." Soon, he walked to his dorm and lay down to his bed, sighing contently.

Parso stared up at the structure before him. pained that he was a long way from home

'its time to move on, I can't let...her cloud my judgement'

thinking to himself as he walked in and admitted himself. walking around to try and find his dorm, still jet-lagged from traveling across the world just to come here

Later that night-

Emerald rummaged through her closet. Trying to find the perfect dress to wear to the party. She went through almost all her dresses then finally settled on a simple pink dress with purple pouf sleeves. And a matching pink headband with a purple gemstone (her cutiemark) attached to it. Finally, she headed off. And when she arrived she was surprised to find that she was the only one wearing formal wear.

Renegade soon arrived at the party, dressed in some casual wear. "Hmmmm...nice party." he said to himself before noticing a very beautiful mare in an equally beautiful dress. He walked up to her and kissed her hoof, after all it was a formal greeting. "Hello there." the stallion said.

Parso had heard chatter of a party, knowing where it was and everything. even though he'd rather get some sleep, he decided to go. leaving what clothes he had on him and heading to the party

"looks like a normal college party"

he said to himself, his australian accent let him remember that he's not from here

Emerald blushed. "Acrylic told me this was a formal party." She sighed, her ears turned down. "I should have known." She forced a smile. Tears were in her eyes. "It's nice to meet you though. I am Emerald Sheen." Emerald looked around the room. For just a moment, it seemed like the world was frozen and everyone in that room had eyes on Emerald. Emerald winced, unsure of what was going to happen next.

Renegade gave her a comforting hug and patted her head. "Don't worry, nothing bad will happen." he said before kissing her on the lips. Renegade just had his first kiss, and he didn't even know it. After several minutes, he finally pulled away and smiled at Emerald.

looking around, Parso saw a couple in the middle of the room, smiled a little before walking over to a wall and leaning on it

"I probably should have went to bed"

looking around again, he saw ponies all having fun and socializing...and then there was him, doing none of those

Emerald stared at him,completely and utterly shocked. She ran across the room, and stood next to a stallion. Emerald sighed and thought about this for a second. She had felt something..felt something good during the kiss. She had felt a pull, making her want to kiss back. But was ti shocked to do so. Emerald shook her head vigorously, clearing her head of the thoughts. She turned to the stallion next to her.

"Hi, sorry. I should probably introduce myself huh? I'm Emerald Sheen."

Renegade was somewhat shocked by Emerald's reaction. Why did she run? Why didn't she kiss him back? Soon, however, these thoughts were replaced with new ones. Renegade realized this wasn't some ordinary, casual kiss. This was his first real kiss. He walked towards Emerald.

'wait, is she talking to me? I think so'

"hi, I'm Parso"

looking over her, he recognized she was the mare with the stallion earlier

'but why is she over here?'

"so, weren't you with a stallion earlier? what made you run all the way over here?"

he asked out of curiosity

Emerald ' s smile faded at the mention of Renegade. Her ears tilted downwards and she let out a sigh. "Not really, I mean I just met him today. We were just talking...and then he kissed me. I guess I was shocked, and scared." Emerald looked up and saw Renegade aapproaching her. "Oh no..." Emerald said her face suddenly going red and her body started to shake.

Renegade blushed as he walked up to Emerald. "Listen, I'm sorry that I kissed you. It's just that you're so pretty, and I just...gave in." he said meekly, his ears drooping in embaressment. Quickly composing himself, he stuck out his hoof with a friendly smile. "I'm Renegade."

"well, I leave youse to it, I need to get a drink"

Parso said, rubbing his throat. he was thirsty so he went to the punch and poured a cup. giving it a curious sniff to check if it hasn't been spiked. to his liking, it wasn't and he took a sip of it. wondering if he should go back to Emerald and Renegade or let them work things out alone

"Are you saying you like me only for my beauty?" Emerald said crossing her hooves. "You sure know how to pick a girl up." Emerald said with a smirk. "First you kiss a stranger, then you apologize for kissing her, then you say you only like me only for my looks." Emerald burst out laughing.

"...No, that's not what I-" Renegade began before bursting out laughing himself. After a bit, he calmed down, wiping a tear of laughter from his eye. "You're right. I sure know how to pick 'em." he sighed before smiling. "So...what do you want to do now?" he asked, wanting to get to know this mare.

Parso looked over and saw the couple laughing. he downed the rest of his drink, contemplating staying or going to bed. eventually her walked up to them

"well, I see everything worked out pretty good in the end?"

he stood near them, feeling a little out of place

"Listen, you seem nice and all. But I'm afraid I'm not ready yet to be your girlfriend. Perhaps for now we could just be friends?" Emerald walked over to the snack tray and grabbed some cheese and crackers. She was about to eat them when the sky blue pony came over and magically stole Emerald ' s food and ate it right in front of her. "Thanks for getting that for me. I was starting to get hungry." The sky blue pony said. Emerald sighed and got some punch instead, but the sky blue pony stole that too. "You really are too generous. "
