Sazama Ichida 2,367 October 19, 2014 Share October 19, 2014 (edited) Why did Sunset Shimmer not return to Equestria at the end of Rainbow Rocks? Seriously I don't get it...Why didn't she? Isn't it her home? Edited October 20, 2014 by DashForever Title edited to not spoil the movie's ending. Don't mind me ^^ The White Shinigami
Frostgage 7,975 October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 She probably felt more at home in the human world at this point now that she has some close friends. Even having changed she wouldn't exactly have been welcomed back to Equestria. 2 Signature by Lacerna | You should fill out my Johari Window. All the cool kids are doing it. Spagem 505 October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 I didn't quite understand that either. Not that I'm complaining. Sunset Shimmer staying only increases the chances for Equestria Girls 3, and I prefer her as a human anyways. She looks a lot more sexy. I do think @Frostgage is most likely right though. Seems the most plausable answer.
Zekromic 1,054 October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 I wondered that myself. The reason behind that might be the writers are planning to make a main character without changing the dynamic of the already established groups of ponies (I mean, a seventh element of harmony because Sunny is there? would be redundant if you ask me), so, they used the human counterparts to fill that. It makes sense at least, because: 1-Sunny might be born in Equestria, but it's evident she adapted well being human, and their world 2-Human Twily is not part of it, besides, if the post-credit of Rainbow Rocks is of any indication, she might be some sort of "I'll discover your secret" antagonist, not unlike Cadance from Fineas N' Ferb Sunny might visit Equestria from time on time or she might show up in Equestria's darkest moment, since she's somewhat the sixth ranger out of the Mane6
M'aiq the Liar 5,804 October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 Well, one major reason is that Sunset is being set up to be the Twilight of EA. She will go through similar trials and tribulations, and very similar character growth. And if you looked at her expressions when viewing the book she is obivously still apprehensive about the whole ordeal, and she most likely does not view herself as emotionally ready or worthy to return to Equestria, and she may fear that she is still wanted for stealing the crown. 1 http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/vera-yeoman-r5921Muh pleb tier OC .http://mlpforums.com/blog/1663/entry-12477-pony-waifu-wedding-13-maiq-x-fleetfoot/ MLP forum's #1 Fleetfoot fan also married to fleetfoot <
Singe 2,111 October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 Sunset Shimmer and Celestia still have unresolved issues. At this point, I think Sunset Shimmer doesn't want to go home because she's not ready to face Celestia.

Singe 2,111 October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 (edited) Everything evil Sunset Shimmer did in the first movie just stems from her personal issues with Princess Celestia. Princess Celestia thought Sunset was immature and not good enough to be a princess, disagreements, then kicked Sunset to the curb, Sunset ran away, and Celestia when on to replace her with Twilight Sparkle. Christmasy Britty 2,553 October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 I don't think sunset shimmer ever felt that she belonged in Equestria perhaps she just felt like she belonged in the human world and not in ponyville signature by Pucksterv

Jeric 46,850 October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 The one scene I expected to happen that didn't was Sunset being asked by Twilight to return. I expected Sunset to politely decline as she could not leave the friends that she loves. She would stay in the human world, because of her friends. Same with EG, of why didn't Twilight Sparkle take Sunset Shimmer back to Equestria. I'm just referencing stories where someone from another world/dimension causes problems for Earth and the responsible party takes the trouble maker back to their home world/dimension. Whilst I assumed that would be the main reason for her to stay, it would have been nice to give Sunset the opportunity to express this change herself.
