Anyways, I wasn't talking to you." Walking to a dead raider, he pulls out a pack of cigarettes and lights one.

Sticky and Jericho looked puzzled as Wes and Kenjii argue a bit.

"Hey can you bitch when we get outside please?" Jericho scoffs them, Shorty pulls open the grate and enters in the tunnel.

"And the deal is just simply we want to help. And making the caps. But we hear there's trouble somewhere we get signed up to deal with it. Come on get in." Sticky answers, he motions the group forward into the tunnel.

From a small short wave radio Shorty speaks into it,

"Charon the inside hostages are free, we're making our way out." He says.

Cole walked into the tunnel where Jericho was and watched the other guy talk into the radio. "So the fireworks are about to happen. I don't want to miss that." Cole said to the radio man. "Blow this place to kingdom fuckin come." Cole whispered to himselfd.

Wes followed into the tunnel, but kept an eye on Jericho in particular. Something was familiar about him. Not the person. Of course, she had never seen Jericho before in her life, but something else about him was nostalgic to her in a sense. She kept her rifle ready still. Ghouls were commonly in these tunnels.

Walking in last, Kenji looks through his scope rather than looking normally. "Dark tunnel, perfect for a night scope. Heh, need to be prepared for anything. Man, am I glad Cujo isn't here though. He probably would have gotten himself shot trying to defend me other something." He whispers to himself.

Sticky looked back to the three accompanying, mainly at Kenji,

"Hey hey, watch where you pointing that thing."

The group of six walk along in the murky tunnels, the rats scampering about as they flee.

At the end they approach to a separate drain grate, Shorty opens said grate.

The not-so-fresh air of the wastes returning to scent.

The group finds themselves at the rail entrance to Evergreen Mill,

"Let's make our way to the church. Charon and Sydney are up there waiting." Shorty points up ahead to an old church up on the far hill.

Wes complacently followed her rescuers. She had verbalized her discontent long enough. She continued to study Jericho while they walked, but when they were halfway up the hill, she finally spoke to him in a more compassionate tone than before.

 

"You used to be a raider, right?" She asked. "It's the way you hold your gun. Plenty of wastelanders look like scruffy raiders, but the real ones always hold their rifles like you do. Even though your right hand is the one holding the handle with the trigger, your index finger on your left hand is spread away from the rest. Your left palm is pressed against the side of the riffle instead of the bottom, and the butt of your rifle is pressed against your elbow."

If Jericho were to look back, he may see that she was holding her gun in the same manner.

Jericho and Sticky looked to her, Jericho unamused by her perception whilst Sticky expressed a bit of dumbfoundness.

"And I thought the boss had a good eye." He says, Jericho smirks,

"Yeaah, the champion stance. It's a neat little way of holding it. Said to help with aim or something." Jericho replies looking about at his rifle.

Approaching to the church the trio notice the barrel of a large rifle aiming above them. The ghoul sniper holds up his right hand on signal.

Shorty gives him the thumbs up.

"Damn, that is what my rifle wants to be when it grows up. Man, if y'all have gear like that, we should be good then, but if we are gonna be moving out soon, I think I will stick with your sniper friend up there. Best not use my scope to see him, he might shoot me thinking I am aiming for him."

Cole whistled at the sight of the sniper rifle. "Ain't seen a gun like that in years. Last time I seen one it got shot out of my hands by a raider." Cole chuckled at the memory. "Damn raiders can't hit worth a shit." Cole listened to Kenji speak to the mercs. "Wouldn't be a bad idea given us some supplies."

Wes holstered her gun and stayed with the group until they got to the church. "Well, you got us out of the camp. Thanks, I guess. I still don't know why you did that, but I guess I'm glad you did. Now I can die of an overdose like I always wanted," she said. "What now? Your job is done right? I can go back to pissing my life away?"

"Well at least two you are optimistic." Sticky says, the ghoul sniper, Charon climbs down from the watch point.

"What shame, only two kills." He mutters.

"Charon here is our finger of God." Shorty says, Charon doesn't acknowledge as he disassembles his rifle.

"Well we're heading our way to Megaton, you guys could tag along with us if you want?" Sticky offers.

"Dude, anyone with a rifle like that is my friend. Unless they are shooting at me. I do have a question, I have a package due to arrive at this abandoned town, I can show you a map, it isn't easy, but whenever y'all have a chance, I could use a handle grabbing it. I am traveling with you anyways, I owe you. If y'all can't help, I'll grab it later. It isn't easy to get to from what I hear though."

"You want us to come with you guys to Megaton? Why?" Wes asked. She put her gun back on her back with the strap over her shoulder. "The fuck happened to you, Sticky? You're hitting raider camps now? Who even hired you to do this? You said this was a job, right? Someone wanted you to hit this camp."

"If you don't want to go with us then, don't. No one is forcing you." Shorty says.

"Well yeah it's a job. I owe it to the boss for saving my ass, and Shorty's and Red's. You remember them right? Anyway we get contracts from Regulators usually, sometimes the brotherhood and Outcasts. Regulators wanted us to hit Evergreen." Sticky says.

Jericho looked to Kenji, "If you can spare the caps I'll tag along maybe get some good hours in."

"I've been set ever since we left that damn cell. Come on. Lets getta move on." Cole said. Cole put his revolver back in his holster and took out his rifle. "I'm ready to go when you are boss. Just lead the way and I'll follow ya." Cole said. So next stop is Megaton huh near where I was born. Cole thought.

"Trust me, I will make it worth your time. I will say one thing though. this place seems tamer than most slavesplaces on three west coast. Raiders are the least of your problems there. Anyways, I will stick in the back of the group, one I am a sniper, too, I font know as much about this area as y'all seem to."

Wes put a lit cigarette into her mouth and calmly inhaled. By now, Jericho may have been noticing that he was missing a cigarette from his personal pack, but what did she use to light it?

 

She exhaled some smoke and said, "Are you fucking kidding me? This is the most interesting thing that's happened to me in years! Of course I'll come with you. None of you look like you can work a computer anyway. I'll be a hell of a lot more useful than just another asshole with a gun."

"We usually let Red do most of the hacking. Yeah, most of us don't know much about terminals." Shorty respond informatively.

Charon equips his rucksack containing his disassembled rifle, now holding a 9mm smg, this one unique having an extended barrel and stock.

"A real marksman don't brag about his skills, he just does it." He scoffs at Kenji.

The group then proceeds onward heading east to Megaton. The group now traveling in silence, Shorty leads the group with the Charon in the back, their ears alerts now for any hostile of any type.

"You ever been out West? Best bet is to kill from a distance, or be able to talk your way out of anything. I like to think I have a silver tongue. But you make a good point." Keeping his gun level, he watches his surroundings, making sure he is ready for anything.

Cole kept his gun pointed downward, listening to every little noise he heard. Some would've called it paranoia but Cole just called it being alert. "Last time I went up West I choose option C. Kill up close." he said to Kenji. "Although I didn't stay up West long. Wasn't really enough job opportunities at the time."

"Never been west of Lamplight," she said, happy that she now had some people to talk to. "Been in the Capital Wasteland all my life. What else is there to see outside of beautiful D.C.?" She chuckled and shook her head. "Have any of you ever read some of the books from before the war? They're really fucking boring, but it makes me feel like I'm in the time they were written. They talk about blue skies and green trees as a passing detail, stating all of it as a fact that's always existed and always will. I once talked to a pre-war ghoul, can't remember his name. He said it was like the hand of God came down and erased the colors of blue and green from the world. Poor poetic bastard."

"I remember once when I was up North. I saw this picture of some pre war city. It was like nothin I've never seen before. It had tall buildings fully intacted, beautiful green grass, fantastic blue sky. It makes you feel something, lookin at something like that. Makes you wonder why someone would've wanted to destroy it."

Following the decaying roads, the group arrives within the hour to town ruins of Springville just outside Megaton, an eyebot flies about in patrol blasting about patriotic music from the Enclave broadcast.

"Just a little further." Shorty says.

Arriving at the gates Shorty waves up to the guard above as the whirling sound of gears emits as the gate opens.

"So this is Megaton? Quite the gate y'all have there." Slinging his rifle over his shoulder, he waits for thirty new friends to enter. "Yeah, an armed stranger entering is not always looked upon as good. Most people tend to shoot me on sight anyways, so better safe than Sorry."
