Getting out there.

dA, opening a commission or request shop, or even posting your stuff under the art threads to drum a little interest are all great ideas.

Do a little networking as well. If you like other people's art, let them know. Follow them, and they might just follow you back and become fans of your art.

Well there is deviantart, if you just want to upload it somewhere on the internet for show.

The forums is an excellent place to start.

You can open a request shop to gain practice or open a commission shop to get money for your work.

However, you could also create an accountin Deviantart.com

It is a very popular website where people post art of all sorts.

Become more known, huh. Just upload to DeviatArt. From there, your work can be featured on sites like Equestria Daily, and fans are always looking for new artists.

Deviant art IS where I have been posting, but barley anyone notices. I was just hoping there was a better place.

I was in the same problem a while ago. It's all about the promotion. If you put your stuff out on dA, promote it as much as you can, but don't annoy anyone with it. Put the links in your signature and wherever you can. Post a status update here every time you upload something. Talk with other artists. Give feedback and make connections with the ones you really like.

Most importantly, for feedback within dA, I would recommend dumping your stuff on as many groups as possible at first, but once you get a feel for the quality of the groups, narrow it down to the best ones only. Also, do collaborations or requests for popular users. My collab/gift for KyleThePony ( http://fav.me/d7qk95c ) is the most viewed piece on my profile. I met many of my friends through him after admiring his art, and now my views have gone up more rapidly than before.

All of these methods combined can help you get noticed on there. dA makes it hard for new users to get noticed, but if you know your stuff you can overcome that and show your talent to as many people as possible.

I'm wondering if there are similar ways for a guy to get his games better-known; I'm having a heck of a time getting attention for one of my games.  I checked to see if I could upload it to Newgrounds, but alas, they only take Flash, Unity, and HTML5 games...and mine is a 171meg Java game, packed up as a JAR file...

Join groups on DA associated with YOUR art.

Join a MLP if you have pony art.

Adventure Time for AT art work.

Etc.etc.

This works very well! I'm also with DA and I'm with a MLP group!

Join projects. I know a number of fan projects who could use artwork for their audio shows and cover art for their music. I saw somepony else suggest it, but collab. Not only with other artists, but find a project you like and work with them. Co-promote, and you'll both get more popular.

I know two right offhand who need art for their audio dramas. If you have a Skype, I can introduce you to them.

If you're having trouble with DeviantART, then sharing your work with groups is a prime action to getting noticed. When I upload art, I usually submit it to 15+ groups, I end up getting tonnes of views and favourites. And my other art with no groups has barely any views/favourites at all.
