Zekromic 1,054 December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 Well, I saw the stare this morning and I couldn't help but notice the difference between the CMCs episodes from earlier seasons and later seasons. Earlier seasons, their episodes where about them finding their cutie marks and causing childish mischief along the way. Later episodes, they toned down their quest for their cutie marks (to the point to just being time-to-time mention), and now their episodes felt more mature in comparison, like bullying, a quite dark representation of how harmful is jealousy and using others to gain popularity, while their quest for their cutie marks have been toned down to the point of being mere mentions in their episodes. There are other factors in consideration -The last two seasons ripped to shreds the status quo of the series: Twily is now a princess, and she gained her own castle at the end of this season -The statement above is evidence the staff are not afraid of breaking the status quo, so, it makes they're planning to make more. And the CMCs, being fillies, are a good target to break more status quo, as children grow and develop at a fast space compared to adults, and as stated above, their episodes changed in a more mature tone as the series progressed -Their voice actresses voices deepened, and there's a trope called "Real Life Writes the Plot" in tv tropes for a reason (Right Adventure Time fans?) -Four years of FiM= their target audience have grown up too So, with the statements above, I could say that I can expect the CMCs growing up, to the point that they'll be teenagers fillies in a couple of years. What do you think?
FlutterAether 421 December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 Well this current generation is set to have a 10 year life span from 2010 - 2020 or even beyond (depending on Hasbro) so I'm assuming we will see the CMC grow up....but only to an extent. I think we'll definitely see them acquire their Cutie Mark but in terms of body changes and such I don't think they'll become the size of our Mane 6 mainly because it could potentially affect Hasbro's toy-line. I definitely do agree that they for sure will mature and may take more important roles in the future but I don't think much of their physical self will change, we haven't seen a filly transformation to an teenager/adult but it would certainly be interesting. :har:
Silver Letter 1,832 December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 If the writers and producers and all those people wanted the Crusaders social club to grow up in that way then they should have done the same with the other foal characters in the show such as Diamond Tiara. That hasn't happened yet. I think with time passing, the crusaders should grow up and they need their cutie marks right away. Unless they are some kind of incredibly special foals that are not supposed to get their marks until some predestined and critical time then there is no purpose in delaying it any further. Or for all we know, the writers never plan on giving them marks at all. There is nothing that suggests that any pony can ever live their entire lives without a cutie mark so it will happen with certainty; but possibly not in the show itself. Which makes even less sense that the characters can grow up and not get their marks. They can't be mutually exclusive. The crusaders must get their marks if they grow up. Silver Letter!!! Leonard Smix 421 December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 We will definitely see changes in maturity, however very little physical changes. We will see them get their cutie marks, and we might even see Scoots grow his wings a bit to where he can fly. But actually grow up to be a young adult, probably not. Silver Letter 1,832 December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 @TrevorGoesBrony, and we might even see Scoots grow his wings a bit to where he can fly Well, Scootaloo is a filly. And it's already canon that she can't fly and will never fly (sure, not directly but when Scootaloo speaks to Rainbow Dash about her wings, it's meant to be a soft way to reveal that she's disabled). But actually grow up to be a young adult, probably not.I agree, but Scoots is a filly, not a colt. But yeah, I would like to see these characters grow and mature, I just don't want to see them become teenagers. I think there is an age line somewhere. They could possibly get their cutie marks at some point and I'd be ok with that. There is definitely potential for character development even with them as young fillies. It's also worth noting that while time passes in our world as we wait for the seasons, I'm pretty sure all of the events of the first four seasons, both Equestria Girls films, the comics, the novels, the storybooks, the Gameloft and web games and that Japan exclusive manga only take place over a year or two, though I can't remember the exact statement by one of the show's staff. FiM is fast becoming one of those canons that somehow crams an inordinate number of events in a questionable time frame, but that just means it's earning its place next to any number of ongoing series that have this plot hole.

Well, from season 1 premiere to season 4 premiere, a year has passed, since they're celebrating the Sumner Sun Celebration again. Anyway, I still stick to the theory of the CMCs growing up and maturing, but I forgot to specify at what point . I think the most they'll age in the show is up to 13 years old, since their growth will be evident, but they'll still be young enough to keep appealing to their (also older) target demographic. I only see that happening in a couple of seasons though
Guest December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 I think when they start to wrap up the show as a whole we will see that happen of course.
ponylaces 1,870 December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 It would be great to see them grow up. I'm pretty sure they'll get their cutie marks in the show, so that's one way of maturing. If you're talking about physical changes, probably not. It would be cool if the CMC had a few minor physical changes though. Also, if you haven't noticed, their voices definitely changed throughout the season. Then again, that's just their VAs. Still nice to see them maturing in some kind of way. hello
Osiria 142 December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 (edited) @TrevorGoesBrony, Well, Scootaloo is a filly. Nope. Not only Scoot will be able to fly, she's going to be one of the best flier! Mark my words and give her time. Edited December 6, 2014 by Osiria The only evil is ignorance. Lisa 5,553 December 6, 2014 Share December 6, 2014 It'll happen one day I believe. I reckon at the end of MLP FIM, they'll have a resolution episode showing the futures of each significant character. And it will show the CMC's futures. Sweetie Belle being a fashion designer, Apple Bloom a farm worker and Scootaloo a Wonderbolt.
Osiria 142 December 7, 2014 Share December 7, 2014 Let's see how did Apple Bloom look like 100 moons ago (From previous Apple Family reunion photo)Granny Smith's exact words was: " I still can't believe it's been almost 100 moons since our last family reunion." Assuming Granny Smith remembered it correctly, and she wasn't exaggerating: Not much of physical changes..huh? Then again, we don't know how long is 100 moons since it has "no human equivalent". (It should be quite a while though.) The only evil is ignorance.
Bird Mom 902 December 9, 2014 Share December 9, 2014 Yes, the CMC will grow up like normal organisms. Whether we see them grown up is debatable. "Pay attention to these petals, Steven. The petals' dance seems improvised, but it is being calculated in real time based on the physical properties of this planet. With hard work and dedication, you can master the magical properties of your gem and perform your own dance!" I think It will be like all kids shows personally where the character's never age but then I'd just love to see the teen CMC maybe that can be a vision of the future in one of Luna's nightime visits Sig tweaked to perfection by Coby!
