Hello everypony! Just a warning, I suck at shading. So, I would like anypony to help me, please. I want to get better at shading, but I need to know what to improve on.

It looks fairly well, though I think some areas could use a tad bit of widening on the shadow area coverage... Not much though. (Also, I'm not very good at shading myself so probably not the best for critiquing..)... The best Shading/Shadowing I've done is probably on the stallion in this picture HERE... But I can still hope to help! :)

Have no fear, The Party Pegasus Storm Shine (Pinkie's Coltfriend! (Unfortunately, this is not Hasbro Official...  ) ) Is here! Along with his little brother Nimble Flight and his adopted son Grey Sky, Not to mention his childhood friend Feather Breezeheart!

For shading, it's probably best to start with picking a light source. Most people tend to shade with light sources coming from above, but it's all personal preference. Then you just look at where the light parts would/wouldn't hit, and shade accordingly.

I guess that's the best advice I can give you! Everyone has their unique shading style, and if you want it to look more like the show, then you can study some of the screen shots and see how they shade. :)

Other than that, it's a solid start, and I'm sure you'll improve quick. :D

When I draw ponies, I always shade the two legs that are furthest away. And if the back ear is poking out aswell. I give them one big flat shade.

But if you want a more detailed shade, then you should, as MiniKirby123 says, find a place to put your lighting. In the beginning it can help to draw a quick little sun in the right or left side so you can remember where it is. Then you should shade in the areas that the 'sun' wouldn't be able to reach.

Hope it helps. :)
