Showing message content in the notification bar

Sometimes you are chatting with a friend here in a personal conversation at mlp forums and want to save tabs (example, low internet) to do not reloading every time the conversation tab.

 

I saw in the User's Content(the user page of the topics participated) that there's a little arrow in the right side of every thread that shows the first and last post of the thread. So why not in the messages?

 

My suggestion is that clicking in the message icon in the notification bar of the forums, you can see the last post (or lasts posts, IDK) by clicking in some type of maximize button.

 

And if possible, let a little space to write.

 

Of course, sometimes your chat partner does a huge post. There's still small problems behind, but the main idea is easing access

This is a very interesting idea, and I can see it being very useful. I'll look into this soon to see how difficult it would be to implement. Regardless, it'll have to take a lower priority with the other projects we have on our hands at the moment.

Perhaps I have visualized it but here it is

 

Now I don't know if this is what you had in mind I mean it's just an idea of what it would look like, but still keep the whole thing white, just look more organized sort of and with a reply area if reply button is clicked, but I do like the idea though, simplicity for the win!

I was thinking of the reply button hide all the messages and usernames of the other conversation, once it will be useless while writing, and the message box would be below, with almost no reply options, just write text and send.

Stacked notifications with some additional granular control would be nice.
