Lordav 3,428 December 27, 2014 Share December 27, 2014 from Luna peering into dreams, to changeling reconnaissance, Firstly, HUman anatomy ( at brain level) would porbably be different that [ponies and i doubt Luna could just tap into human thought ( Even so, i think she'd be traumatised by what some ppl dream ), Now changelings... Firstly---> Why WOULD they help Equestria as they dont actually live in it. We are talking about humans in Equestria not the entire place (Not saying that they wouldnt invade the entire planet but the changelings wouyldn't know human greed that well) , need-it spell, Discords touch Now we have seen discord...not being the most loyal (tirek)... dont you think a war with Science VS magic would bring chaos... which is something he moght enjoy? No, mankind will not just "master" magic I didnt mean "master" magic, what i mean its find ways to "deal" with it... Mankind has been very able to adapt in different situatuions... What i mean is that it will be a lot more difficult for ponies to deal with all the different weapons than us with magic. (and shooting lighting from our fingers... Theres been a documentary...cant find it... you CAN shoot electricity IF you were a total metal suit covered with a substance i dont remember) Now im gonna concentrate a bit more on biological warfare here. Think on the effects it would have on Equestria. Destroying their entire food supply with napalm and other methods (Also even if they somehow do the same, we have the biological advantage of being omnivores so... i dont like to think about it) , being infected by genetically modified viruses, or even radiation poisonong...which i doubt thaey ever heard of. Have you ever heard of sonic warfare... I doubt the ponies did... and we dont even need to be lethal. Created as a riot control weapon in the us (i forgot its name...google it)... We have created a sonic weapon that sends out a signal on a specific frequencty that affects the water in our bodies and the bonds between cells. You feel that you are burning even though nothing is actually happening to you. NOW back to psycology. Dont you think some ponies ARE going to surrender. Either theyre going to eventually give up information or a few hours of torture would eventually break them (owwwww). A third of the pony population consists of earth ponys...which have no magic... Will they just be left for the massacre, will they surrender... or will the banzai ? We have the range advantage as well as we can spot and strike before a pony would even notice us. From sniper rifles, to UAV drones to balistic missles... I mean, we dont even have to invade... JUST bomb them to ash from a cozy office drinking a cofee AND THEN send the infantry to put up a victory flag. Ponyville suddenly becoming the chaos capital of the world overnight. I kept this for last. I dont think anyone in ponyville saw their friend and neighbor with which they probably spent most of their childhood life with: shot, cut in to by shrapnel or blasted to bits by an explosion. Also the ponies are gone when they mess with MOTHER RUSSIA Signature by me Sunny's Fan Club I love Sunset Shimmer <
NotoriousSMALL 1,984 December 27, 2014 Share December 27, 2014 Well, I was assuming it was through a portal, hence she would be controlling our sun; a lot less moral constrictions, though she'd only use it as a last resort. I think you missed my point, though, so let me be straightforward: ponies won't be hurt by bullets, and they won't be hurt by bombs. A shot from a tank wouldn't hurt them any more than a slap from a pillow. When I said Newton's third law, I was saying equal but opposite forces are acting on the body. Ponies using that magic have to survive have bodies durable enough to survive its effects. For unicorns, that also means surviving the forces of levitating other objects (ala Twilight moving the Ursa Minor in Boast Busters). They have to be able to handle this energy physically; If not, their bodies would be destroyed, same as if you tried to punch ten times your strength level. This means a weaker force is not going to hurt them; their bodies have already survived more total energy than that force can produce. Basically, because bullets and bombs cannot produce more energy than this: They cannot hurt ponies. We could throw all of our ammunition at them, and the worst that would happen is they might slip on the shells. A punch upwards can knock out a pony yet any shell from a bullet specially designed to penetrate skin couldn't tear through them? Rainbow dash also broke her wing in one episode, which means they're not as strong as you think, and twilight had to be in a wheel chair with a bunch of casts in another episode. I find it hard to believe anyways, what Rainbow Dash did would be physically possible on our planet, friction would tear her apart. Also, it took twilight a LONG time to muster the magical energy to move the Ursa, plus she's apparently a very gifted unicorn who can do things that a regular unicorn can't, or would take them years of study. Fractured 2,684 December 27, 2014 Share December 27, 2014 Firstly, HUman anatomy ( at brain level) would porbably be different that [ponies and i doubt Luna could just tap into human thought ( Even so, i think she'd be traumatised by what some ppl dream ), Now changelings... Firstly---> Why WOULD they help Equestria as they dont actually live in it. We are talking about humans in Equestria not the entire place (Not saying that they wouldnt invade the entire planet but the changelings wouyldn't know human greed that well) It's magic; that may sound like a cop out, but peering into and manipulating someone else's dreams shouldn't be possible in the first place. I doubt it's restricted by something like anatomy, although it's ambiguous, so i'll just go with the negative and assume you're right on that. There's still the want it, need it spell. And Changelings would help because a war against Equestria is a war against them. Specifically, not only are they losing their home, and their potential food supply, they risked being taken out in this fight as well. I don't think mankind will be non-discriminatory enough to separate "ponies" from "those things that look like ponies". (and shooting lighting from our fingers... Theres been a documentary...cant find it... you CAN shoot electricity IF you were a total metal suit covered with a substance i dont remember) For the record, this is awesome. Now im gonna concentrate a bit more on biological warfare here. Think on the effects it would have on Equestria. We have created a sonic weapon that sends out a signal on a specific frequencty that affects the water in our bodies and the bonds between cells. You feel that you are burning even though nothing is actually happening to you. Well, destroying their food supply requires establishing a stronghold, which we can't do(them being faster, stronger, etc. than us). Viruses would take too long to study(remember, we're talking months). Everything else really depends on their basic biology, which is obviously nothing like normal horses, considering the stuff they go through. Where in Equestria are you going to stick any of these? Equestria's skies are clear, the land is flat, and pegasi can see for miles. Unless you're setting up shop in the Everfree(which I don't recommend), there's literally nowhere to hide outside of the cities themselves. A third of the pony population consists of earth ponys...which have no magic... Will they just be left for the massacre, will they surrender... or will the banzai ? Earth ponies can run hundreds of miles an hour (from Ponyville to Canterlot in hours, and from Ponyville to Appleoosa overnight) They're also strong enough to pull houses and carry train cars and various other vehicles. They can also cripple bison with baked goods(with a disturbingly good aim). Trust me, they're not out of this war. A punch upwards can knock out a pony yet any shell from a bullet specially designed to penetrate skin couldn't tear through them? Essentially, yes; if you can't generate more energy than they've taken. That Rainboom, calculated meticulously by many, many people that know stuff here: http://www.narutoforums.com/blog.php?b=21727 contained 31 megatons of total energy (later 2 gigatons). I don't see any problems with the physics there, since they took virtually everything into account, so moving on. When Rarity knocked out the Wonderbolts, she produced more energy than that, and they survived. That means it would take a release of more than 31 megatons of energy to kill a pony. You can see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TNT_equivalent The biggest nuclear weapons ever dropped only released 15 and 20 kilotons of total energy, at least a thousand times less than the amount that you would need. The biggest nuclear weapons we have right now max out at 1 megaton, which is still not enough. If you're going to hurt ponies, it's not going to be through force. Incapacitating them (somehow) would be our only option. what Rainbow Dash did wouldn't be physically possible on our planet, friction would tear her apart. If she were a normal horse, yes, but different universe, different creatures, different ball game. It's not always equivalent to our world; there are plenty of "humans" in fiction that do stuff that's impossible, and they do it all the time. Here's Batman leaping through an explosion like he dropped out of a Clint Eastwood film: and here he is outrunning another one: and here he is, blocking machine gun bullets with his wrist: You know, "human". Sanctified Absence 126 December 28, 2014 Share December 28, 2014 (edited) I can see where you're all going with this, but I strongly disagree with using our own Physics to determine the information on certain feats in the show, as such calcs are riddled with imperfections in the form of inconsistencies. Supposedly they can shrug off megatons, at which point we either have to assume that anvil that hit Twilight (effectively knocking her out) was either a substantially ridiculous weight, gravity is ridiculously powerful or they can't survive Megatons. Given the rate at which falling ponies accelerate to the ground, gravity isn't that different from our own. If Pegasi could generate such forces, an Ursa Major would be laughable for even a Pegasus child to deal with, so why would they fear such things? Each Pegasus could effectively obliterate Equestrian life as a whole. Put bluntly, given the massive amount of inconsistencies present if we use our own Physics, it seems relatively safe to suggest that Equestria runs off a completely different set of rules, ones that actually make sense given the feats we've seen. No Slaaneshi pleasure I have indulged in comes close to that feeling, only in the embrace of Apotheosis could one aspire to find anything greater." Science looks pretty alright to me. Then again, I could be wrong; don't always science well... Or it was a gag, like Pinkie Pie moving across Ponyville in 1/10th of a second? I don't think we were supposed to take that seriously, especially since Twi was fine right afterwards. If Pegasi could generate such forces, an Ursa Major would be laughable for even a Pegasus child to deal with, so why would they fear such things? Because Ursa's are still stronger than they are? To be honest, the wildlife in Equestria have never been properly quantified. Each Pegasus could effectively obliterate Equestrian life as a whole. There's very few ponies with a wide range technique like that, and RD is the only pegasus with one, so unlikely. Of course, having that much energy doesn't mean you can release that much energy in one go; you can survive a nuke, but only have the capacity to damage a house due to poor energy output. It's kinda like a battery... It seems relatively safe to suggest that Equestria runs off a completely different set of rules, ones that actually make sense given the feats we've seen. And we just lost any sense of equivalency, which makes this conversation impossible to properly finish. Just as well we end here, I feel myself becoming a little too competitive on this(never a good thing), and I think we've derailed this topic too much already. You can still reply to this if you want, though. Not saying you're necessarily wrong, just that our fundamental mindsets are different. I don't think mankind will be non-discriminatory enough to separate "ponies" from "those things that look like ponies". Well how can changelings actually help, i doubt that they can change their form into a human bipedal being. IN the show we only see them change their "cover"... not their body structure... Also they would have no way of actually going in the human world. Equestria is a "clean" place which means their alveoli (lung cells) are clean. Our alveoli are mutated, used to the amount of polution in the air (not just in cities but everywhere on the planet). In other words the air would be toxic to any Equestrian that would enter our world. As you may know, scientist have a list of extinct species that they want to bring back (some dinos included). One of the problems they face is that the DNA they have does not include information about this mutation, therefore the animal wouldn't survive two days. For the record, this is awesome. IKR! Just asking, do you remember WWI, what was the biggest fear of any WWI soldier, hee a WWI poem: Bent double, like old beggars under sacks, Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge, Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs And towards our distant rest began to trudge. Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hootsOf tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind.Gas! Gas! Quick, boys! – An ecstasy of fumbling, Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time; But someone still was yelling out and stumbling, And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime . . . Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light, As under a green sea, I saw him drowning. In all my dreams, before my helpless sight, He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning. If in some smothering dreams you too could pace Behind the wagon that we flung him in, And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cudOf vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues, My friend, you would not tell with such high zestTo children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori. Its Wilfred Owen btw Yeah... gases... We banned their use in warfare after WWI... They can range from colourful smelly gases to invisible and unsmellable ones... Ones that can kill imidiately to gases that let you spend a few agonising hour of trauma as you desperatly try to get air into your burned lunges and you gargle out blood as you die choking with your own body fluids (Wow, that was dark). HOw can they fight something they dont even know is there.... GAses hat burn your eyes and paralyse your entire body... From simple tear gas to chlorine or the imfamous mustard gas... And these were all produced in the 1913s-1916s... Think about what we can come up with now. I guess just burnoing down alll the forests and farms with napalm or Agent ORange (What the US used in the Vietman War... it burned jungles and poisoned people) from high altitude bombers wouldn't need a strongold (Ill get to bombers later) Where in Equestria are you going to stick any of these? Equestria's skies are clear, the land is flat, and pegasi can see for miles. Unless you're setting up shop in the Everfree(which I don't recommend), there's literally nowhere to hide outside of the cities themselves. You fly them through the portal. We have high altitude bombers and even sub-orbital ones that could fly in places where pegasi couldn't. As in sub-orbital height s the oxygen is too thin and there is too little pressure for any being to survive... Also did you know there was a altitude (i things it was 15000m... but i probably remeber wrong) where the water in your body literarly start to boil if your unprotected? Also bombers would be protected by interceptor fighters and helicopters... Our fastest airplane can reach up to Mach 6.72... Speed of sound x 6.72. THATS 7,274 km/h! It can also flight to a height of 100km.... thats 100,000m! Thats literarly the edge of our atmosphere! Still can they defeat a 50 tonne tank or BTR? Thoughs things are literarly made to withstand bombs and NOT BE BLASTED... They cant be turned around that easy.... Add machine guns, rockets and gas to that... Plus at least 9 infantrymen in each BTR.... nope no chance... Ps. we have also sucessfuly made battle robots... controled from a remote facility =) Signature by me Sunny's Fan Club I love Sunset Shimmer <
The Shadow Stallion 127 December 28, 2014 Share December 28, 2014 Well much of my theory has been already posted. I think that at first contact both sides would be wary then develop a sort of uneasy peace. (I don't think a virus would have much affect or if it does, the equestrians could cure it with magic. As for our world we would probably ask or bargain for their magic cure or have our own top researchers working on a cure.) Now the bad part comes into play. Whenever humanity has been faced with another creature, it has generally violently asserted its dominance over the lesser species. Examples could include how we domisticated animals and wiped others out that didn't bend to our will. I can picture that humans would try to develop antimagic tech to control unicorns and just use brute force to control everything else. I mean whatever can make life easier for humans, humans generally try to take. Unicorns have magic that can do just about anything, so humans would naturally try to use them and force them into slave labor. The earthponies and pegasi would be used just like any other horse breed we have. The only difference is that they are smarter and have the potential to do more complicated labor. So brutal war, followed by the cruel enslavement of equestrians. Either enslavement or extinction. Its sad, but a most likely worst case scenario. However, There are plenty of reasons good scenarios may happen instead of worse, but I leave that argument to a different thread.
Vendi 407 December 28, 2014 Share December 28, 2014 Don't forget that bronies are also humans and pony experts who would do their best to prevent war. plus if both races have deadly diseases, they could just work together for cures cuz they all have scientists and stuff. I don't think I'm doing this worst case scenario thing right. Bendy 1,821 January 2, 2015 Share January 2, 2015 (edited) Humans meet the evil Conversion Bureau Ponies. Humans don't like being forced to be turned into ponies and their minds enslaved, thus humans nuke Equestria into oblivion. The few surviving ponies (mostly likely those on Earth when the nukes were dropped on Equestria) are enslaved and forced to live in a police state, where they are constantly watched. Over time ponies get more right and freedoms, but are still hated by a huge number of humans. Humans eventually colonize radioactive Equestria and over time clean the radiation.
