CosmicHooves 2,705 January 18, 2015 Share January 18, 2015 Now I know what you're thinking. "Hah! That would NEVER happen!" But please have an open mind. Just pretend. Just PRETEND that scientists DID in fact find a manmade artifact on another body of rock besides Earth. Then ask yourself these questions: How big of archeological discovery would it be? How would it change our perception on ancient technology? Would our perception on ancient culture change as well? Please share your thoughts.
Lordav 3,427 January 18, 2015 Share January 18, 2015 Well if it was on the moon... They be lik: "Dammit Armstrong... stop littering the moon" Well... ayway it wouyld probably not go public for A LOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG time as .... yeah.... thats the way stuff works around here. Well... how would we know it was ,manmade and not "alien-made'... i mean i guess we wouldnt find a car or something that says HUMAN on it... but anyhow: It would really raise questions about human origins and how life started. This will probably re-raise all the legends of 'advanced extinct civilizations' in the eyes of scientsts, such as the myth of atlantis (which i just found out... Hitler send a SS expedition to find atlantis =o). It would probably be a pretty big WOW in terms of archeological importance, Im sure it would be one of the NR.1s. Im not sure id it would change our perception of our past, but it will obviously result in a tonne of research in search for answers. FeatherNight 35 January 19, 2015 Share January 19, 2015 If that ever happened, I think we would find out more about what we've been potentially lied to about.
Starlight Fan 538 January 19, 2015 Share January 19, 2015 If there is an artefact on the moon, I bet Luna put it there to troll.
Invincible 2,091 January 19, 2015 Share January 19, 2015 Mankind will be simply electrified by the discovery. It would mean much (assuming this isn't a hoax) - first of all, it would mean we're not alone. The following question would be raised, "who left it behind, and for what purpose?". It could change everything we know or think about ourselves and our existence. Codelyy 1,286 January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 (edited) If they did find a ancient manmade artifact on the moon then first, NASA would have a panic attack with a lot of "How!?" and "What!!?". They would then take it back and study it and see what it does but if it's ancient then i doubt it would be hard to figure out what it does Edited January 26, 2015 by Code Thank you Cherribomb for the Signature! https://twitter.com/Codelyy
Lisa 5,553 January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 Well then it'd confirm that we aren't alone. (Not that many people were really doubting that in the first place anyway).
Henny Penny Benny 936 January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 (edited) Well, without saying much about why (because it would likely derail the conversation), it would probably make a lot of young-Earth creationists (like myself) very happy. But of course, whatever such people claimed it as evidence for, no one else would believe it. Most people'd probably think aliens did it. SCS 7,537 March 21, 2015 Share March 21, 2015 It would be amazing, but I honestly wouldn't be very surprised if this ends up happening. I don't think it's unreasonable to hypothesize that there have been previous civilizations on earth that had technology equal to or surpassing ours, and they could have wiped themselves out using weapons we currently view as weapons of mass destruction, or possibly even worse. Or maybe it wasn't even that extreme: maybe they all left for a different planet and left behind a few people to start up a new civilization that they would monitor from afar. Our planet is very old. Who knows what may have happened in the distant past.
