Singe 2,111 February 20, 2015 Share February 20, 2015 (edited) Coming up with the formula to an EG movie. 1. Only Twilight Sparkle is allowed to go to the other world. 2 Main story plot must revolve around a school ran competition which Twilight Sparkle has to be involved with. 3. Equestria magic must be involved. 4. The villain(s) must compete in that school competition and make it irrelevant before the final confrontation. 5. Villain(s) must be a group of three. 6. Villains' magic must be defeated by power of friendship 7. Twilight and Flash Sentry moments. 8. Protagonists must perform a musical number in front of the student body at least once. 9. Protagonists are required to spend a portion of the movie hanging out and waste time. 10. Villains must cause some rift/chaos among the student body. 11. Villains must deceive the Principal and Vice Principal. Edited February 22, 2015 by Singe
Lemon Slices 358 February 20, 2015 Share February 20, 2015 Wow. Does this formula apply to both two movies? 1 Is it too bad to be addicted to a game?
MysticShine 529 February 20, 2015 Share February 20, 2015 You cracked the code. Now we pretty much have an outline of what will happen in the next movie.

Cleverclover 1,526 February 20, 2015 Share February 20, 2015 Yeah, that about sums it all up. Only thing I would add: 8. Plot must involve some level of out-of-nowhere contrivance to reach its conclusion.
chirox the pony 1,336 February 20, 2015 Share February 20, 2015 Yeah you pretty much summed it up right there, I still have high hopes that the third movie will be even better then RR and (maybe) won't follow some of the elements of said formula. No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.
Dark Qiviut 22,431 February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 (edited) Wow. Does this formula apply to both two movies? Eeyup! Compare both movies, and you'll see how much both movies share this formula to pretty much a T. As to the OP, you pretty much cover the formula, but a few more are missing: The HuMane Five behave really stupidly in order to make Pony!Twilight (and later Pony!Twilight and Sunset) look better. Spike must be one of the few likeable characters. CHS must be run by a couple of sisters who lost their intelligence. Insert the conveniently dark hallway to elicit suspense. The overall writing must be dumbed down for tween girls because "they can't handle anything but clichéd high school drama." Dulset Tarn 441 February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 1. Villains' plan, taken as a whole, never made sense to begin with. 2. Major plot holes deliberately called into question by the characters, then ignored forever.
Singe 2,111 February 21, 2015 Author Share February 21, 2015 (edited) New ones. 8. Protagonists must perform a musical number in front of the student body at least once. 9. Protagonists are required to spend a portion of the movie hanging out and waste time. 10. Villains must be the source of the rift/chaos among the student body. 11. Villains must deceive the Principal and Vice Principal. Edited February 22, 2015 by Singe
