EMPIRE OF THE SUN

RP thread: http://mlpforums.com/topic/122170-empire-of-the-sun-chapter-one/#entry3521542

Note: I'm ONLY looking for two people!

Hi there. This roleplay is going to focus on a journey into the dangerous and flurished Amaranthine Jungle, an area located outside of the Equestrian borders, home to many long-lost pony tribes, mercenaries and what-ever horrors that may lurk deep within the dark tombs, but also a place where a great treasure is hidden. And THAT is where you come into the picture. You've been appointed to go find it and bring it back at all costs.

The primary focuses of this roleplay are going to be:

  • Slow & Detailed Roleplay - Keep it detailed and do keep it lengthy. No short 'spam-like' posts, please.

  • Suspense & Action - For me, action and suspense is very important. You never know what lies around the next corner, and we shall keep it that way.

  • Adventure - The ability to roam through the almost neverending jungle, raid tombs, scavenge abandoned settlements and the likes.

  • Survival - There's no system. No rules. No backup. Trust your instincts. Adapt. Survive at all costs, whether that's bringing home the treasure yourself.

BACKSTORY

You're the chosen ones. The Filthy Few. The elite. You are known simply as the Conquistadors, spanish for Conquerors, a band of treasure hunters, and you've been chosen to locate a treasure of great importance to the Kingdom of Equestria. You've been ordered to travel to New Equestria, to the Amarathine Jungle.

The New Equestrian Empire is the formal name of the recent Equstrian colonization of the Amaranthine Jungle, in order to open new trade routes and to expand the kingdom of Equestria. It is a vast and flurished land, too big for it's own good.

Recently, numerous New Equestrian settlers have told stories of a great treasure hidden inside the Amaranthine Jungle. A treasure that would be worth millions, a treasure that would determine the future of your career as a professional treasure hunter. However, no one's sure what the actual treasure is. But it is not all good news. The settlers have also told stories of encounters they've had with dangerous tribes, ruthless mercenaries and professional soldiers, all trying to either capture the treasure themselves or to protect it from the outsiders. Where do they come from? What's their story? No one knows.

You've all been contacted via a red letter to assemble at the local docks in order to get on a ship that will transport you to the coast near the Amaranthine Jungle, at the Einhorn Fortress (the main headquaters for the New Equestrian defence forces stationed in the area).

RULES

- Keep it enjoyable. Keep it simple. Keep it true to the lore. Magic is allowed, as are minor supernatural elements, but not to an extend where you can summon an entire undead and immortal army. Catch my drift? Basically nothing overpowered that'll ruin the roleplay.

2  - The setting of this roleplay is set in a period that's a mixed bag. We have a bit of Assassins Creed: Black Flag, Medieval 2 Total War (etc, etc) and other historical periods in South America, such as the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. Think old times. No super advanced guns, no tanks, no spaceships. Pretty simple.

3 - Keep your posts detailed and the typos at a minimum. I won't bash you for a couple of typos, but if it's a lot, when something must be done.

- Feel free to adjust your OC accordingly if it doesn't quite make a good fit for the roleplay. Just keep it canon and true to the lore, in terms of equipment and weapons, as stated, and we'll do just fine.

Okay, so I'm really interested in this. And that's kind of weird, because I haven't actually done a pony RP in a while (I somehow end up in human ones all the time, even though I'm on a pony site). I want to ask, though, to determine which of my OCs is better for this: are we part of the military, or just independent explorers/treasure hunters who the military/government/whatever is hiring? Because conquistador makes me think military, but the rest seems to imply that we're independent, and the character I'm leaning towards for this wouldn't be a part of the military.

Also, I can try to make longer and more detailed posts, but because of my writing style, it's not always easy for me to do so. I tend to write in a more... precise manner, I guess? Maybe that's giving myself too much credit, but basically I tend to keep things short and to the point. I'll try to adjust, but I can't promise I'll always have the longest posts.

Oh, and if you'd allow me to have two characters, that might be better, but if you're only looking for two people, I don't want to steal a spot from another potential player, either.

Hi there,

Thank you for showing interest! This is actually an old RP of mine that I've brought back from the dead, since it didn't really go anywhere.

But yes, the characters in the 'fellowship' are all independent treasure hunters, whom either already lived within the Equestrian Empire or outside of it. It is, however, allowed to have former military experience/history.

In terms of writing, I think you'd fit in. Just keep the posts at around 150 to 200 words. That's just the bare minimum.

Regarding the last part of your post, you can have as many characters as you wish, if you deem that you can control them all. What I ment by two people is just two users from the forum itself.

Ex: You, me and (insert forum user here).

Oh I'd like to join, this sounds great. Here's the link to my OC.

I haven't done a roleplay before, so can you just go over the general rules with me. I know the rules on the forums, but not how to actually play the game.

Maybe if this is good enough, we could get Pen Stroke or someone else to make it a fanfic.

  • No overpowered abilities/things/items/whatever are to be present in THIS roleplay.
  • Detailed posts within the 150 to 200 word minimum.
  • Have fun.
  • Keep true to the lore of the roleplay, in terms of backstory and equipment.

That's about it.  :squee:

Alright, I've retrieved my OC. He's an archaeologist by the name of Lost Knowledge. I never did put a lot of detail into this page, and due to a series of frustrations and my eventual giving up and accepting my fate, there are no images of this character, but here he is. I assure you, he's more fleshed out than he might seem from the bio I have in the database.

Maybe I can help. Roleplaying, is, essentially, a kind of collaborative writing. The DM creates the story and environment, and we as players react to events the way we believe is appropriate for our characters. Basically, just write what your character would do. I guess, if all else fails, just try to follow my example once we get started. Not to boast or anything, but I've been doing this for a while.

Yep, don't we go into the actual game bit for this.

It's just a safety precaution.

Once I get both confirmations, I will give you the base character template and then set up the actual RP thread.

Not much point in me suddenly backing out now. I have work before too long, so I won't be posting for a while yet, but start it whenever you're ready. Maybe I'll get my first post off before I go to work.

@@Alex Kennedy,

Well, if you have to back out, I might be willing to take the vacant spot. If not, then I'll just cry into my sleeve and wave you all farewell as I missed the train for this one. Either way, have fun.

Aw, well. If you so wanted to join, I could open another spot.

Can we actually get going now?

Hold on there, brother.

I need to make the actual roleplay thread first, before we can begin.  ;)

@@Royce,

Naw, I won't make you do that. It would give people a precedent, and then, suddenly, the roleplay is filled with Harlequins laughing at your generosity. Besides, I don't really have a good character for this atm, despite me wanting to think otherwise. So I think I will merely await the next train. Have fun.
