Youtube videos under spoiler tags

Seriously, can we jsut have a rule enforced saying that youtube videos be put under spoiler tags? I'm really serious about this. Every time I go into a thread about music. There's so many youtube videos out in the open that I just start lagging so bad. It's very frustrating because I'm the type of person who also likes to just post and go. I don't want to have a dozen youtube videos making my browser lag for over five minutes. I know the staff probably can't keep track of this... but try? It's just really annoying. I also doubt I'm the only one that has to deal with this.

Not only is this a custom coding issue but I wouldn't like the manual approach either. Hiding content under a spoiler tag is a horrible ux sin. I would be opposed to the idea personally. We don't even have an requirement to hide images. This would be something that would not only come across as draconian, user unfriendly, but also have a dramatic opportunity cost to manage and enforce

Maybe there's another solution to the core issue, but I want to gather more info first before I start speculating, because I rarely go into threads that contain lots of videos myself.

 

Do you find that threads with lots of images also cause lag, or is it specifically video links? Are the videos auto-playing for you, trying to download the videos in full without playing them, or is multiple copies of the YouTube plug-in simply being on the page causing the issue? If any of that is true, spoilering might not help.

 

Oh, here's a thought. Are you on a mobile device, using the mobile version of the site?

I think it's just the youtube videos. It could just be that my browser has a really hard time too. I know when I go on this one site to get music... my browser will lag so bad for the first few minutes or so. It just makes it hard because it'll start like... scrolling up and down trying to load the videos, lag a some, then try to attempt at loading the rest of the videos on that one page.

 

But eh... I guess I'll just have to put up with it. *shrug*

 

Also, I don't use forums on my phone. I don't want to even try. My phone is a bit old (it's an iPhone 5C), and well... yeah.
