Tyra perked up and watched as little animals scampered out of the forest, as if fleeing from something in pursuit.

 

"Something is definitely wrong," She muttered, with a nod of sureness, "We shall have to get supplies quickly."

 

Blizzard lowered her head, growling toward the woods and preparing to pounce. She could definitely sense something was wrong.

Huge dark green clound raised from deep of the Hayseed forest.It was almost as far as the swamps on the other side of the Forest,but it didnt stay long in air it quickly flyed back on ground and with it desapiring from our heroes sight pack of birds flyed out from forest.

 

(This is just some foreshadowing of things to come)

Ticktock's mouth dropped open at the smoke "Well it seems I may have been right which means is that this forest may be not what it seems. If we go in we should be ready for anything that was no magic trick, well it could have been but I doubt it I just think we need to be carful."

Tyra jumped into the air a few inches from seeing the smoke, and then the waves of birds scattering from the trees away from it.

 

"Aye, you are correct," She agreed, nodding with a stern look, "Whatever is in that forest, we will need to be ready to challenge it head-on!"

caliber's sword was already out, and he looked grim.

 

the smoke startled him somewhat, but he quickly retained his bearings. 

 

"now...why dont we find out whats doing that?" he asked with a flat voice. "perhaps we'll even find a solution to our problem."

 

he started walking towards the forest.

Ticktock put his hoof in front of Caliber "No we need to make tactics that kind of action will get you killed what if there is a giant monster like an ursa major it would rip you to shredders. We stay here and make a tactic if we had done that in the maze we could have beaten Scarlett."

Blizzard took note of the fleeing animals. While his teammates were talking and gawking at the gas cloud, he was rinse and repeating his scout-and-evasional tactics from before. Hiding behind more trees and rocks while advancing a bit up each time he moved.

 

He ran back to his team and raised up his grandpa's book, "I've learned a thing or 2 from this thing guys. Like that scout-and-evade tactic. Running up behind trees and rocks to take cover while moving forward. This allows me to get info on the oncoming threat, without breaking my stealth. I didn't see much up ahead, and I think we're more thann capable to crowd control some plants." he said cockily, "I don't need any supplies besides these babies!" he said while raising his hooves triumphantly, "So whenever you're ready to move up guys, let's go." he said as he took a knee while taking cover behind a nearby rock.

Ticktock paced for a second before stopping "Well Blizzard I don't think the whole sneak through the forest thing will work. Djinn look like plants. And I don't really trust some old book written by an old man back in war times it is out dated rubbish this is an age of invention we have good food and airships not like 60 years ago Celestia forbid it."

Blizzard frowned. He didn't like his grandfather being insulted like that, especially since he knew what his grandfather had done in the past, so he spoke up. "Hey, don't knock my old man Ticktock. My grandpa has seen and done more than you could ever imagine. Hell, he's served the military for over 40 years. Maybe this tactic doesn't apply to the current situation, but years of experience will almost always overcome 'inventions' which are faulty in some cases."

 

He then backed up and spoke again, "In this case, would you rather, rush in blindly, or sneak in and out of the bends and areas to gain a tactical advantage upon our objective guys?"

caliber glanced at ticktock. "uh...dude, that was a bit offensive..." he murmured.

 

he really wanted to just get this mission over with, and he was pretty sure he could fight, but...even he knew he wouldn't be able to take on an ursa major, like ticktock said there might be in the woods.

 

an ursa minor, sure. hell, he'd even done it before. but...an ursa major was really pushing it.

 

"whats the plan?" he asked.

Tyra's jaw dropped at Caliber's question. Was he truly serious? Her hoof found itself connecting with her face.

 

"I have already told you twice," She sighed, shaking her head, "We are going to get supplies, then enter the forst as carefully as possible to find these Djinn, and the source of that smoke!"

 

She glanced to the three stallions, cheeks puffed out. "Have you all got the plan? Do I need to tell you a fourth time?"

Blizzard looked at Tyra and raised an eyebrow. He was confused as to what exactly they would need and why, "Hey, axe girl. Do you have any idea exactly what supplies we need and why? I just wanna know because the only thing I know that can truly get rid of plants are chemicals. What do you think?"

Ticktock's eyes went dark "You speak of experience well I have over a thousand years of it in my head which I can use so if you think 40 years of military experience can out rank the knowledge that is possessed by the spirit of darkness then go ahead and good luck to ya because chances are you will die."

Blizzard knew that something was wrong and shook Ticktock, "Leave my friend alone dark! Get outta his head do you hear me? Ticktock, are you there? Please don't tell me this fool took you over." he said as he looked worried, "It's me, your friend Ice Blizzard."

Ticktock's eyes went dark "You speak of experience well I have over a thousand years of it in my head which I can use so if you think 40 years of military experience can out rank the knowledge that is possessed by the spirit of darkness then go ahead and good luck to ya because chances are you will die." 

caliber tensed. this was dark, the guy who attacked his friends.

 

in almost an instant, his dark magic had activated, and his sword was out, held near dark's neck. caliber had also grabbed his shirt sleeve in case he tried to teleport away. "tell me, if i were to attack you, right here and now, what are your chances of survival?" he asked through gritted teeth.

Ticktock shook his head and jumped away with a shock "Oh no oh no it's happened again and it's happening faster I need to re double my efforts" Ticktock then began to talk to Dark but so everypony could hear "Dark we need to do some thing it is happening more frequently if we don't find I way to stop this then I will be too much like you and you will be too much like me it will disturb the balance."

 

"I know" Replied Dark "Ok if you continue to focus on the spell then I will also do it that should bye us more time."

Blizzard charged himself up a little and began to spin an ice dagger in his hoof like a cowboy would spin his revolver in his hand. He walked close to Tickyock and said, "Dark you son of a gun, I swear we will kick your flank up one side of this swamp and down the other. Tick, don't let this guy have control. You're our friend, we don't wanna lose you. Ok?"

Tyra's eyes widened with exasperation. Had these ponies any self control?!

Dark had reemerged, Ice was getting angry, and Caliber's dark magic had reappeared.

 

But, things seem to be calming, for Ticktock at least.

"I wish for no squabbling amongst our group!" She yelled, then looked to Ice, "I apologise if you felt insulted, but we do not have time to argue right now!"

Blizzard began growling at the trio, just as a warning to calm down.

 

She looked toward the town. "We must go and collect food and water for the journey, I fear we will not emerge from the forest for some time."

Ticktock face palmed "For badness oh I mean goodness sake Blizzard it IS me and that wasn't Dark well it kinda was but it was me as well. But for know lets go get some food." Ticktock teleported away to the closest place to get food and waited for the others.

Blizzard put his dagger away and was relived that Ticktock was ok and looked at his team when they had calmed down. He spoke, "Ok, sorry guys. Yeah, we better get some food and stuff. Let's get our supplies and meet back here when we're done. We gotta watch out for Tick with that dark crap within him." he began to slowly walk to the marketplace to get food.

Red had been silent, watching the events. She was a little more worried about the giant, dark green cloud, and the animals running out of the forest than she had been about the arguments. She trotted away to a general store, leaving her friends to her arguments, and got some food (mostly apples, but a few other greens), and, after some contemplating, some rope-- you never knew when you could use rope. She got some full canteens of water as well and began moving back to the others, reflecting that now she had even fewer bits, and saw that they seemed to have finally stopped arguing.

 

"I got some food, rope and water," she said to Tyra, gesturing at the pack on her side. "Do you think there's anything else we need?"

Blizzard had reached the store and purchased  several fruits like watermelon and pears, "Doubles as a heavy hitter melon projectile, AND a yummy food." he looked around for items and saw a can of paint. "This could be of use for later." he also bought tripwires and nets for traps.

 

He continued to look around and saw fish. He could store it and keep it for an emergency, "I'll keep that in my cooler for later." and lastly, he found a small Rarity photograph, looked around for a moment, and bought it, "So lovely. Must have."

 

After he finished buying things, he met up with Red and reviewed his supplies and he put them on the ground, "I got paint. Maybe we can use that for camoflague. Nets and tripwires for traps. Uh..watermelon for weapons as well as to eat. Because you know, one hit from a melon, is instant concussion on the enemy. I also bougght fish, but I'm keeping it frozen for emergencies."

 

The picture of Rarity fell from his mane and he blushed as he quickly put it back, "Uh...you didn't see that...."

 

He then put everything back within the pack in his saddle.

Tyra perked up and saw Red walking toward the group, seeing she was carrying some bags of food, rope, and canteens of water.

 

"Oh, I never saw you leave!" She admitted, putting a hoof to her face, then nodded with a grin, "Aye that will be enough!"

Blizzard jogged over to the mares, fixing Red with an expectant look.

 

She saw as Ice picked up some fish, and a wide grin came over her. "Ah, my thanks friend!"

"I didn't think of all those things. Thank you," she said to Ice. "If you'd like, I can carry something too." She pretended not to have noticed the Rarity picture. She reflected that it was a little creepy that they seemed to be selling pictures of ponies in the marketplace.

 

She glanced down at Blizzard and pat him on the head, smiling. She turned to Tyra. "Is Blizzard good at sneaking?" She questioned, suddenly concerned. They might have to hide in trees at some point, and even if the trees were giant here, if the wolf was not nimble enough he might not be able to hide in them.

Blizzard facehooved. He knew that sneaking was his own entire idea from the get-go, "Hello? That's what I said. We should be sneaking in and out of the area's landforms to gain a tactical advantage, especially over these weird ass plants we got here."

 

When he heard Red asked about the stuff to carry, he became a bit more flustered. He didn't want to seem weak by not carrying what he bought, so he held his head up, "Nah, I'm perfectly fine. What's the plan Tyra?"
