Guest March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 Look at this...: Yes I know, ponies tend to have rather large heads compared to the rest of their bodies, but... I dunno why, but in case of other ponies this doesn't really seem weird to me, but in case of Luna... Her head seems so oversized, I wonder when it overweights her and makes her fall down to the ground! Also her front legs are soooo narrow where they meet the rest of her body... why don't they pop out...? Luna is Celestia's sis, right? See: Not that oversized head... And finally: Even as Nightmare Moon Luna's proportions seem more correct? Or I dunno, is it just me nitpicking again?
~TheGammy~ 112 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 She almost looks like she has no muscle to her upper legs.. Like, I think Celestias front legs look kinda the same, but her back legs at least look a little more beefier. I think the head looks fine though.. Just the legs for me. Siggy made by me~ Please quote me if you want me to respond to you~!
Moonlight 7,291 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 Luna's entire body puts me off. Her head is too big, her neck is too long, her legs look oddly sized and shaped, and her horn looks too long. That's just me though. matching setups with my bff pathfinder
Guest March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 The legs are the bigger problem for me, Celestia's rear legs appear far more supportive/balancing in comparison. Luna always seems to me like she should topple forward (same with Cadance IMO) and I think this has to do with her proportionately larger head and smaller/slightly inwards sloping hindquarters. I love Jelly Otter 477 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 If it's about disproportional as the Breadwinners then you should run a petition to Hasbro! Ultimate Jelly Otter / PB&J Otter fan since 2003
Sceethe 704 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 every character in the show is disproportional, since most cartoons try to make you focus on the faces of their characters, since that is what you are supposed to look at, anyways. Still, lunas neck is way too long, which just looks pretty silly and doesn´t exactly serve much purpose. usually, a long neck could make a character look more elegant, but not with those proportions. ThatOneComrade 1,092 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 Hmmm... i don't see it. I think it fits fine with the rest of the ponies href="/monthly_02_2014/post-8308-0-69609200-1393191794.png">
ArcheoPony 76 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 Luna's design is kinda a lanky mess. And I find it amusing for some reason.

guest243535531ty43 219 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 Luna's hind legs definitely seem shorter proportionally to her body as compared to Celestia's. This maybe to depict that Luna is younger than Celestia. This also accentuates her face (especially her eyes), which would make her seem younger and cuter. With Celestia, her structure towers over other ponies, her wing-span is larger, and her hind legs give her more support, all of which I think are features that fit her guardian, motherly-like role in Equestria more so than it would for Luna. None of the ponies really have proportions that would be suitable in our world, but I would agree that Luna's design has a slight extra issue. Cadance's model, I would argue, seems even more disproportionate as compared to Luna's because of her more pronounced muzzle and her longer, thinner neck, while still having a torso similar to Luna's. Idris 241 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 I think she looks proper foal like, but for me it's the movement of cartoon charectors that's important. I'll always buy into a charector if it has fluidity. The only thing that slightly wierds me is when they sometimes lift there front legs, but don't move their rear legs under their mass? Luna gets a good deal though, as Fluttershy slammed into a door in classic tex avery style, but I haven't seen Luna get the same treatment. If I think on it, i'm impressed with how they have managed to fit 'foal' and 'regal' into the same alicorn. Blue Moon 6,345 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 I don't know; she looks fine to me. It looks similar to Princess Celestia's body type, and her head looks fine to me. While there are many different normal ponies to compare body types, there are only five alicorns we have to compare with each other. So yeah, I'd say she looks fine. LucianZ 76 April 4, 2015 Share April 4, 2015 Her design looks unique and awesome in my opinion. Trying to make a cartoon realistic is pretty silly but whatever, to each his own.
dekutree64 713 April 4, 2015 Share April 4, 2015 Yep, I've always been a bit bothered by the width of her neck and size of her head compared to her body. And the fact that her eyes are about the same size as her thighs Here's an especially weird looking shot:
Prince Firemane 309 April 4, 2015 Share April 4, 2015 When comparing her head to Celestia's, Luna's looks fine, it does look proportional to the rest of her body. I think the issue is that her neck is a bit longer and thinner than it really should be, especially when compared to Celestia's. I think it's a forced illusion that makes her head look bigger than it is. Her horn looks too long to me, but we have seen with Celestia and Cadance as well, an Alicorn's horn seems to grow exponentially with the rest of their body. Luna's legs kinda bother me too, but I think they were designed that way to accentuate the statuesque, slim figure that she shares with Celestia and Cadance.
