So I made an OC.

He is a hippogriff named Blackwing.

 

He was originally Discord's first and best friend that had believe died (Somewhat Discord's fault when he became all chaotic)

 

-However. 1000+ years later he returns seeking revenge on Discord for his betrayal and believes all friendships are nothing but a lie.

 

His goal?

 

To cast a mind controlling spell throughout the entire world. (erasing their thoughts, memories and actions of their lives. They'll know who they are but they won't recognized any family members or friends anymore)

 

Basically he wants to recreate Equestria, but it'll be a world without friendships.

Blackwing is the very opposite of Discord: Cold and Calculating. Focus. He becomes reformed later on...but it takes time.

This is a hippogriff? We already have ponies,  and gryphons  This is an 1000 year old one mix of the two.   Discord is essentially an eldritch god.    That's literally throwing a geriatric patient at Cthulhu.  

 

Also revenge for what again?  Not being his friend anymore?  If he wants to destory all friendships and family equestria, how did he not get along with discord.

Even assuming this is all standard and reasonable for Hippogriffs,  you have an 1000 year old plot hole of inactivity that needs some explanation.  Nightmare Moon was trapped on the moon awaiting cosmic alignment to open the door, Tirek was a shell of his former self, slowly regaining power,   Sombra was just doing Sombra things, but it wasn't Equestria's problem...this guy?

 

TLDR - If you want to establish your own canon,  that's just fine.  But you actually have to establish it,  not just say it as it is and assume that all the pieces fall into place.  

 

1 - Are hippogriffs ancient critters (this will be shattered if MLP Canon introduces them as anything but)

2 - Are they powerful magicians? (this will be shattered if MLP canon introduces them as anything but)

3 - Why did he and discord stop being friends? 

4 - Was discord his only friend. (because, ya know. Usually people have more than 1 friend.)

5 - 1000 years of nothing. 

 

 

Also, I'd like to point out that discord isn't really "evil"   He is simply himself,  an embodiment of change/chaos.    He isn't necessarily malicious,  he simply makes things not normal.   For instance, when he made it rain chocolate milk,  pinky pie embraced the change and made it into a positive.  This can be broken down into a morality argument,  but the overlying point is that he wasn't bad,  ergo reforming him was simply a matter of making him less focused on himself .   IE - Friendship is important,  as opposed to someone like Tirek,  whom really isn't reformable. He just wants to watch the world burn.

@, I kinda agree with Skygunner, honestly. The most important thing is you yourself enjoy your OC.  The rest does have some effect in what you want to achieve with said character (story, comic, etc), but their worth is likely best defined by your own input and interest.

 

Though admittedly, as an outsider, I would take a little issue with them being a god-level character with world-level importance, and being stitched in with Discord's past as a highly important person to him and such. But, that would mostly be if I had to identify with him personally--which makes the issues more that I have trouble relating to high powered characters who are destined to be important almost as a character trait.   They're... just not as interesting to me.

 

What would he be used for, or is he created just for the fun of it?

I've been wondering the differences between griffins and hippogryphs for a while now  . Wonder how they can cross in mith, but I guess in MLP world that's far from impossible
