hurrdurrderpyhooves 1 June 21, 2015 Share June 21, 2015 My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Twilight SparkleHow did you find MLP Forums?: googled it How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: it's cute Hi everypony. I've been a fan of mlp for about 4 years now. Wow, it really has been that long. I've just been thinking a lot lately about what I've done as a brony. It has dawned on me as of late that I haven't contributed to the fandom in any way whatsoever, and I wonder if that has made my devotion of time to this show and all the content surrounding it a gigantic waste of time. I have seen every single episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I know every meme, I've seen countless analysis and review videos whether they be by digibro, tommy oliver, antony c, etc., I've read plenty of fanfictions, seen a bunch of fan animations, watched all the documentaries, the list goes on. The problem is that I have literally contributed nothing to the fandom, and I often wonder if I even can. I wouldn't know where to start if I wanted to create an oc, I don't feel like I have anything unique and interesting to say about any episodes or anything, I'm not an artist or a musician, I don't feel like I have anything to bring to the table even if I tried. I really don't know what to do at this point. I feel like I'm exactly what bronies have strived so hard to prove that they're not: a lazy, unimaginative, basement dwelling loser. I feel helpless. I don't even know if posting this will do anything. I know that this community is full of intelligent and creative as well as caring and compassionate people, and I'm just looking for help from a community that is built on the principles of love and tolerance. I don't know, I could go on and on about this, but I guess I'll just stop here. If anyone has any advice, please share it with me. Thank you.

Kerberossz 1,929 June 21, 2015 Share June 21, 2015 Hello and welcome! Don't let those feelings gain the day. It's not about what can or could you do, It's always about what you want to do. It's not a problem if you are not a musician or an artist. Don't push yourself into something you don't want or don't feel the incentive to do. The possibilities are endless, if something arouse your interest then do it, but only if you want it. If you won't do anything, it's all right. You don't really know where to start? Start here. You see, in this forum there are a lot of people who can provide inspiration if you take a look at their work, or you can ask for advice too if you are really confused. My advice: If the time has come, you will know what to do or what you want to do but until then just relax and enjoy the fandom and this forum.
Ragland Tiger 3,435 June 21, 2015 Share June 21, 2015 A well - worn quote from Eleanor Roosevelt says: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Go out and do something that makes you happy, that you have fun doing. Look at others who are good at it, and find out what they do that makes their stuff good. Keep actively learning and improving. Trust me, if you do that much, life will be more fulfilling than you know. Welcome. Hugs, RT
Troblems 5,620 June 21, 2015 Share June 21, 2015 @@hurrdurrderpyhooves, I moved your thread out of Welcome Plaza. It's not the correct location, but you don't have access to the correct location yet. That aside, about a year ago I felt the same as you did. I hadn't contributed anything to the fandom. Then I met another moderator on this site. His roommate is what turned things around for me. His roommate and I started talking about plushies, and I made a comment about how I had grown up sewing. I hadn't considered making plushies myself until she suggested it. I'm not saying you should pick up just anything in the fandom, but rather that perhaps there's something you're already good at that you could use that skill to apply to creating something. Additionally, @@ooBrony has been one of the best people to come to this site. He's always kind to other members, welcomes almost everyone to the site when they join, and is all around a really friendly guy. Even if you can't make anything, welcoming other bronies to the fandom in general is astoundingly helpful. Some people have a really difficult time joining the fandom because it just seems wrong. It's a show for little girls, so they're told, and as a grown person, it shouldn't be something they enjoy. At least not so openly, right? Clearly that isn't the case, or else this forum wouldn't be so successful. Just keep in mind what may seem like a little thing to you may make a big difference in someone else's life. 2 I got an extra hour in the ballpit
Zantetsuken 364 June 21, 2015 Share June 21, 2015 (edited) I have tried to contribute to this communityI've tried everything. PMV's, Analysis, Commentary, Music, Reviews, Even tried playing some Pony games once. All of these Projects failed simply cause, I didn't really want to do it. Right now I'm writing a fanfic and currently having a lot of fun. This being said, My advice to you would be to test the waters on the different types of creative contributions you may think you want to make. Your findings may surprise you. Let me tell you, if there is one thing I thought I would never be doing in this community, It's writing a fanfic, simply cause I can't write. I tried it and actually am enjoying it and my writing is getting better. If you truly believe you are unable to do anything, keep in mind you contribute to the community simply by watching the show and posting on forums like this one. so you should really just see what you like doing and do it also welcome to the forums!
