NeonCobalt 256 February 24, 2016 Share February 24, 2016 I guess it is a little strange that we haven't seen it since season 4. But ultimately, it served its purpose in the plot, which was to have those entries in there so that Discord could bookmark them and Twilight could figure out how to open the chest. After that, there was no real reason, plot wise, to show it. Ana to be honest, I actually like the newer, more subtle method of giving the morals anyway. 1 Credit to @Kyoshi for the signature! After that, there was no real reason, plot wise, to show it. Ana to be honest, I actually like the newer, more subtle method of giving the morals anyway. They did have a few lessons in there that were not related to Discord'a bookmarking though. Though I agree that I prefer the more subtly demonstrated morals, it just seems kinda a waste to have only a few things to write in the journal and then have it just disappear without a trace. PiratePony 8,491 March 3, 2016 Share March 3, 2016 (edited) [missing epistle from Twilight Sparkle's journal] Dear Princess Celestia, one of your not loyal subjects disrupted the space-time continuum and destroyed Equestria multiple times. I taught her about the magic of friendship and all is forgiven. One of her childhood friends was a real jack ass (no offense to Cranky & Matilda). Hopefully multiple universe theory doesn't exist, or those ponies are "being put out to pasture" as we speak. No need to worry, it ended with hugs, and I didn't have to bother the ruler of all Equestria and pony in charge of the sun about the fate of all existence. Justin_Case001 4,934 March 4, 2016 Share March 4, 2016 I'm with @Dark Qiviut; I think I prefer the increased flexibility and freedom afforded by the non-letter/journal format, but it seems strange that it was never mentioned after Twilight's Kingdom. I mean, the actual reason is simple: SCANNING.... IRRELEVANT PLOT DEVICE DETECTED. ...DELETED... But some kind of closure would have been nice. Maybe they should throw in some gag scene where Twilight learns a great lesson, and then Spike says, "You should write that in your journal!" And then Twi says, "Journal?! Pffft. I don't care about that anymore." OH, OH! I GOT IT! Same scenario; Twilight learns a lesson, then says to herself, "I should really write this down...now where did I put that journal?" She looks around, then shrugs and goes, "Meh, I'll remember it." Roll credits. Then she can re-learn the same lesson in a future episode! Actually, you know what would be the absolute best? If they were using the journal to level the Cutie Map table. OMG, yes. That's the one.
