In the short it is exactly as the name suggest, you play a role.

Depending on the rp you usually pick one of your OC (or make one) and follow the theme of the rp acting out how your OC would respond to the situations.

Roleplaying is the art of taking a 'role' of a character that you create and using your forum posts to dictate his or her actions, voluntarily or otherwise, to create a story with other character, usually guided by the person who created the idea, known as the DM (Dungeon Master) or GM (Game Master). You can roleplay many things- action and adventure, science fiction, fantasy, slice of life roleplays, mystery, horror, intrigue... imagine it as if you are creating your own movies.

If this is something that you are interested in... well, step one would be to post 5 times and officially become the Muffin Rank. Make sure they are quality posts!

Then you would first want to read the Roleplay Rules, followed by how to create/record an OC (Original Character) to roleplay as. (You can have multiple OCs, so don't worry about having one OC). You will then want to hit up this guide to roleplaying, as it will give you some tips on how to formulate a roleplay post, and then, if you feel like making your own story instead of joining in on the stories of others, you would go here to learn some details on how to set up an OoC (Out of Character) Thread to get signups and share some details on how the RP will work.

If you have any other questions, feel free to hit me up with a PM, and I'll get you straightened out. ;)

A Roleplay is pretending you are a part of the show/book/story. You can pretend you are a character from the show or your own original character or OC.
