Is MLP:FiM running out of lessons for the Mane Six?

No one in life ever stops learning, if you do--then you become incompetent. It's true that it feels like if someone learns one lesson we all should--but often times that's not the case. You sometimes have to actually go through the trouble yourself to understand what the lesson really is. I can tell you a million times not to speed, but until you do it--will you understand why I say it.

Well the friendship lessons aren't about Twilight anymore, they'll probably be more about Starlight.

I'm hoping more of the lessons will be about mentorship.  This would allow them to still focus on twi while also bringing up an entirely new and valuable series of lessons.

I think the issue is that it's harder for the show to find new lessons for the Mane 6 that will fit into its prescribed format without changing up their dynamic or relationships with other characters. There won't be a dearth of new lessons per se, but the structure of the show has to keep changing over time in order to keep the new lessons coming, lest they go in circles with the same characters we've been following for the past five and a half years. That's why it's important for the show to use its new and supporting characters more.

If the Simpsons has been around since I was a child, MLP can find a way to make it last. Whether the Mane Six grow up into full grown creatures to then spawn another group is up to them, but I doubt people would like that--so to even keep it along the lines of Family Guy and The Simpsons where both seem to never pass time--this is what the creators would have to do.

Whether this involves continuing to teach lessons to the Mane Six, or it's involving ALL the creatures we've seen in Equestria (note Twilight's friends that she forgot, but we know better than she does), and have episodes surrounding them, and their lessons.

Inducting new ponies into the Mane Six--to allow them to teach their wisdom is a beautiful thing and if they can, it's almost like teaching Vegeta not to be evil.

Honestly, they can always do episodes without any real big lessons but rather focusing on characters relationships or on small adventure scenarios too. I mean, look at the Friends forever comics; They don't revolve around teaching lessons but rather exploring characters bonding together and finding common ground. And plenty of fans would love more adventure scenarios, so you could always do more power ponies style episodes.

The simpsons was amazing between seasons 3-7, but the modern seasons have been less strong.  I'd rather MLP end than see it drift towards mediocrity

Honestly, I think the writers should start broadening their focus and writing more episodes focused on secondary and tertiary characters interacting with the Mane Six. It'd make more sense for said secondary and tertiary characters to learn lessons the Mane Six have already learned, rather than having the Mane Six re-learn the same lessons over and over again.
