Zerbu 72 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 How many people here saw one of the Equestria Girls movies in a theater? More specifically, were there many (or any) other adults there without kids? Just something I've gotten curious about lately...

Guest August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 I saw the first film in a theater... It was... Horrible how it was. There was probably only a few families there with kids, and the rest all bronies. What was worse is that the bronies were very rude and obnoxious to the kids. Part of why I did not go to see the second film in theaters.
Will Guide 21,360 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 The funny thing I've officially joined the herd after seeing all of the first 3 seasons via Netflix within a week in the middle of April 2013. When I went to see the first Equestria Girls in theaters, I didn't expect to see a lot of adult males. There were little girls with their parents there too, but to my surprise, there were more Bronies than the target demographic. I thought to myself back then, "I thought there were only going to be little kids and their parents, but I read on the internet was right. There actually are a lot a grown men and women who love this show that they would come to see the film that a lot of people, even some Bronies themselves, said was going to suck just because the film's premise was taking their beloved ponies and sending them into a cliche high school setting." It was actually heartwarming to see grown adults coming here to watch an animated film like Equestria Girls without kids. I had thought only Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks animated films were good enough to attract both kids and adults. Boy, was I wrong. I saw the first film in a theater... It was... Horrible how it was. There was probably only a few families there with kids, and the rest all bronies. What was worse is that the bronies were very rude and obnoxious to the kids. Part of why I did not go to see the second film in theaters. ^ Really? Sharkz, I guess you just went with the wrong groups of Bronies. At the theater I went to for the first film, the Bronies I met were very nice. All throughout the film, not once have I heard the Bronies groan at the cliche plot points and characters. If anything, I heard a lot of laughter from them, especially in the scene with Twilight's confession and Pinkie's hunch. If any of those Bronies saw something they really hated, they were polite enough to keep their thoughts to themselves and not hurt the feelings of the little kids by shouting, "this is stupid" or the like. A year later, I went and saw Rainbow Rocks in theater, bringing a male friend of mine a few years younger than me. Just like before, The Bronies were nice and even when High School Cliche Flash Sentry appeared, there were almost no groans. There was a HUGE amount of laughter in the middle of the movie when Maud Pie showed up in the middle of the night to feed her pet rock. My friend didn't know who Maud Pie was, but as soon as we got home, I showed him the Maud Pie episode, so he would understand. I do feel sad that the 3rd film, Friendship Games isn't getting a theatrical release here in America this year. I wanted to hear the audience's reactions to a film series with a cliche-sounding premise again. Guest August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 ^ Really? Sharkz, I guess you just went with the wrong groups of Bronies. I didn't go with bronies myself. I just went with a friend. And the amount of fan reactions kind of annoyed me during the film as well. Made it impossible to hear what was going on a good chunk of the time. If anything it would be interesting to sit in the theater lobby near the entrance of the theater room and see what kinds of people go in.
Akari of Duskshire 581 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 There was a small group of bronies who were cosplaying at the theater a fellow brony and I went to to see the first movie. The rest were parents and their kids. And my weirded out father (my friend was too nervous to go in without an adult. We were middle scholars at the time).
