sleepypony 180 August 17, 2015 Share August 17, 2015 hello every pony! made another drawing just the other day, granted I was in a bit of a sad mood when I drew this. But I am trying to look at other angles of ponies to try and improve the best I can. That being said if any pony can help me make this drawing better (besides coloring because I'm working on my sketching before I color so I can see what lines I need to improve on) That would help me out a ton. Especially if someone can download this and actually draw in some red lines so I know what exactly I need to work on that would help me tremendously. Love this forum and posting art and also looking =D Thanks every pony you all are great!!!
Kiri 7,289 August 17, 2015 Share August 17, 2015 I really like your mane and tail structure, as well as her wing. One thing I suggest is to give her more of a "sitting" position in the back legs so that her pose looks more natural. Great job capturing her expression! Sorry to hear you were sad when you did this.
IcefireInfinite 227 August 17, 2015 Share August 17, 2015 You did a good job. Probably one of the biggest things to focus on the anatomy of the characters. Her wings just need to be moved a bit upward along her body and her back legs should be either shown like she is sitting down or she needs to be in a laying down position for it to work according to an actual horse's anatomy.
Hazy Skies 1,010 August 17, 2015 Share August 17, 2015 (edited) *Clicks image* "Wooooaaaahhhhh... That's a biiiiiiggggggg image" xD Looks great I could try vectorizing it.. That'll give some good feedback on some curves that might not be balanced or something Though i'm a little worn out from my last vector art project.. so might start again later But yeah.. great sketching, keep it up ⁿ-ⁿ Edited August 17, 2015 by AURAequine

iceestarz 5,764 August 17, 2015 Share August 17, 2015 I tried to overlap your drawing with some red lines to show things you could fix but it wasn't coming out very clear since I'm using my phone to do this. So instead here's a side by side. I wrote some things on my version of your drawing that I hope helps you. Yours is great, I'm sure with a little practice you could fix your proportioning errors.
Fluster 87 August 17, 2015 Share August 17, 2015 Concerning her position, you could do it the way you did or a natural sitting position, either would work, the natural sitting position would just look better and it's an easier pose to master Also you could try putting the wings above the front legs so the wing there would cover her elbow instead of the other way around.I couldn't help myself I've done a quick redraw here, it's not exactly alike to yours, but hopefully you could use it as reference, or get a few ideas from what you see Though if you'd prefer I do the red line thing as well, please don't be afraid to pester me!

Any good places where I can read up on pony anatomy so I can improve as much as I can? If anything just constant practice and studying other people's styles of ponies and how they executed everything helped me. And you're welcome! Your redraw looks really good, definitely an big improvement from your first one!
Fluster 87 August 18, 2015 Share August 18, 2015 You chose a good place to start ponies have a very uncomplicated anatomy that's both quick and easy to master. I could give you a few links to some stuff that looks helpful here~http://img03.deviantart.net/2a0c/i/2014/164/3/a/pony_legs_tutorial_by_assassin_or_shadow-d7m69w8.jpghttp://pre04.deviantart.net/7f65/th/pre/i/2013/058/7/1/_mlp_draw_pony_by_pennygu-d5wdc3p.jpghttp://img12.deviantart.net/39f5/i/2015/148/2/0/pony_anatomy_tips_study_tutorial_by_kilala97-d8v5uls.jpgI'm not gonna flood you with links though, so just gonna put three

Xeltor23 704 August 25, 2015 Share August 25, 2015 It's not bad, try to add some colors and maybe try to make it a little bit bigger
Randimaxis 8,652 August 25, 2015 Share August 25, 2015 When you get to the inking part, I would actually suggest a sharp felt-tip, as I've found them to be quite good. (Just be sure to let it dry properly; they smudge while wet.) Otherwise, it looks better than anything I could pull off - kudos! 1 ===== ( 0 ) ===== Fnord. skysweep 541 August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 This is really nice, good job. I cant offer much advice because I am still learning too (Sorry)
sleepypony 180 August 26, 2015 Author Share August 26, 2015 I usually color with colored pencils, what would you use for inking Randimaxis? and thank you skysweep and xeltor, I'll be sure to color this one soonish haha GuyNamedEarl. I don't think I'll be making her any bigger, but it doesn't mean I wont draw rainbow dash again in a different size
