OC Help- Colors, Name and prob Cutiemark

Okay. This is my first post.
 
My OC is a Unicorn mare who works as a blacksmith of sorts. Idk what she makes yet. She is a tomboy, and an introvert to ponies she doesn't know, but can talk their ear off once she knows them. She is afraid of heights and will do anything in order to get away from the high place. She's pretty good with magic, her strong points are in teleportation, levitation (which is funny), her special spell (similar to Rarity's finding gems, but she finds metal ores and meteorites), illusion spells, and a few other kinds (I'm too lazy). 
 
She is a single child, her mother is a baker and her father a farmer. She was bullied a filly because she was a blank flank until her teen years. She never let her bullies get the best of her and when she finally got her cutie mark she was as proud as one could be. She was visiting her uncle in a small town near Manehatten when she met her uncle's friend the local blacksmith. She was curious and her uncle introduced them. The blacksmith let her play with one of his hammers and a scrap of metal, she loved it. Thats where she got her cutie mark. 
 
I'm no good at choosing colors or coming up with pony names (if she were human id have little trouble). If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it. I'll try to attach a picture of her in grayscale (going back to the colors part).

I like the thought you have put in your OC, I can honestly say I havent come across a blacksmith OC pony yet, so thats awesome.

 

Names Ideas: Silva (Silver) Ore, Silva (Silver) Shine, Rare Earth, Paige (Pay) Dirt, Anville (Anvil), Bright Spark

 

Cutie mark- I think your description of how she got her cutie mark speaks for itself: i think it should be a hammer striking a piece of metal with a hot yellow-orange tip and sparks flying off, sorta like this:

 

Honestly, the grayscale kind of works for your character, just make the eyes a color that really pops, like an orange-yellow, or a bright blue. it would help the yellow-orangish of the cutie mark stand out. I could also see it work if she had a dark tan body with blond mane, or even a light purple body with orangish mane.

I think a hammer striking an anvil causing sparks to fly out would be a great mark for your character.

As for a name... well... I feel that that's really something you have to come up with on your own to really make it your character, but a name I thought of was Dark Spark after looking at that tiny spark in her eye. It's a name which is synonomous with bark which might explain some of the bullying and I think it works well with her color scheme and the fact that she can find hidden ores. I think it might even work well with her personality too, how she is an introvert until you can see the shine underneath. Maybe Hidden Spark? Well, it's what you choose.

Well, I finished, but the sparks were kinda messed up, so I made a version without sparks, too.

If you feel like choosing them (And I can understand if you don't), chose whichever you want, and change it in whatever way you want.

BlueBrony, The cutie mark idea is amazing. I never would have thought of it! I really like Anville.

 

10InTheTardis, I love how you illustrated the cutie mark, its quite good. I’m going to use the version with sparks, with a small change here or there.

 

IcefireInfinite, the names you suggested are really good, though I didn’t think anyone would see the little sparkle I put in her eye lol
