skysweep 541 August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 Its a really good drawing, straight out of Twily's psycho state. Somehow I thought of Macbeth when I saw this....Ugh, too much English revision. But in all seriousness, it has that vibe of a twisted pony. It achieves the effect if the intent is to scare someone.
Hazy Skies 1,010 August 26, 2015 Share August 26, 2015 (edited) Your art is awesome Very well done and accurate.. So awesome in fact i decided to vectorize it It look a while, but i got this result from it :grin2: Vectorized art: Hehe, had a lot of fun vectorizing this one also good practice and stuff.. But yeah, keep up the awesome artwork ⁿ-ⁿ Edited August 26, 2015 by AURAequine

But yeah, keep up the awesome artwork ⁿ-ⁿ Hah, that's awesome xD Definitely gonna save that. Also, how exactly does one vectorize something? Or rather, take line-work like what I have and turn it into something looking like what you did? What I've done in the past is go into Photoshop, use the pen tool to trace lines, and then hit enter to stroke the lines with my current brush. This technique works really good, but I feel like it's maybe not the most efficient way. So how do you go about it? ^^

This technique works really good, but I feel like it's maybe not the most efficient way. So how do you go about it? ^^ I used Inkscape to make it into vector art (which is the draw style the show uses), It involves creating nodes and anchors to create curves.. these can be manipulated and positioned to form a shape in which the program mathematically calculates the curve's dimensions and stuff, which allows it to be rendered at really high sizes without pixelization and keeping file sizes minimal (the project file for this one is only 4MBs..) Here's a screenshot zoomed in to show the nodes (with their handles and anchors) for twilight's mouth :grin2: I've only been using it for about a month now and I've gotten pretty good at at.. it is just very time consuming and tedious, especially if you manually taper some points to reflect the tapered curves the show's character design has.. But yeah.. hope this helped explain a little EDIT: But anyways, it's really fun to vectorize and render good hand drawn art like this It also allows to find and repair small mistakes in the original, but not if it draws away from the original art style.. Basically you make nodes, and then use handles to define the direction of the line as well as the position and intensity of the curve. Though! what you're doing seems simpler, as from the looks of it it appears you can drag it around with real-time visual updates; is that correct? ^^ In Photoshop you just get the thin grey line of the pen tool itself, and there's actually no visible line until you hit enter and create a stroke. After that, if I wanted to alter my purple line, I'd actually have to erase what I did, go back and edit the anchors of the pen tool, and hit enter to make a new purple line. That's why i stopped using GIMP to make ponies it was way to tedious and stuff to actually make good curves manually by stroking this path and stroking that path.. And yes, it does constantly update it as you edit it.. Also, another advantage of Vectors is you can zoom in all the way to max and get no pixelation The only way it does become pixelized is when you export it.. but you can save it at really high resolution to get really crisp curves If you wanted to that is EDIT: Like this super HD version of the vector version.. Nice drawing :3 She's an evil enchantress and she does evil dances, and if you look deep in her eyes, she'll put you in trances, Then what will she do?
