movies/tv Jar Jar Binks: Deserving To Be Among the Most Hated Things On the Planet?

With Star Wars VII coming out in three months,       I'd like to reflect on something that many consider to be one of the great abominations of the last 100 years. So now I must ask...is Jar Jar really deserving of so much hatred? Is he any help to the franchise? No. Should he have been counted out altogether? Absolutely. Is he annoying? Don't get me started! However, I can certainly think of worse things in the world, even in film. Since his appearance over 15 years ago, people still rage about how horrible of a character he is. 

 

What are your opinions?

 

P.S. - If he appears in Episode VII and gets killed off (rumors), how would you like to see him go?

He's really annoying in Episode I but that's really about it. Didn't mind him when I saw the movie as a kid, and while I find him more annoying now, that's all he really was to me, I didn't hate him to the point where I wanted to horribly murder him or curse George Lucas to hell or anything. And I think the borderline obsessive hatedom he has against him is actually really sad. There are tons of characters worse and more hateable than him.

 

GRANTED, in the SW universe, from what I remember, he was responsible for Palpatine for having as much power as he did in the senate, so he does have that against him

I actually liked Jar Jar a lot as a kid. And could a pretty damn near perfect impression of his voice.

Nowadays I'm just kind of meh about him, but I think his hatedom has grown to absurd proportions.
