Could Apple Jack's element be working against her friendship.

Let's be honest, we've all lied at one point in our live. But for AJ, being the element the element of honesty can be an extremely big burden. Can she never tell a lie?

In party of one we saw that Apple Jack is technically capable of telling a lie, but had a huge problem with hiding something as little as a party. What If she had to hide something that could hurt her friendship with the other mane 6? They do seam to be inseparable but what if AJ was forced to tell somepony else  such a secret? She could somehow become isolated from from the rest of the mane 6.

What do you think about this? Do you think the element of honesty could effect the relationship of the mane 6? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Farewell for now.

I think Applejack will only keep secrets that she knows aren't going to hurt anyone, like Pinkie's party. If there was a situation where keeping a secret for one of her friends would hurt another of her friends, she would probably tell the truth, even if it meant being disloyal to the friend who was trying to keep the secret. In a situation where a friend asked her to keep a secret and keeping it wouldn't hurt anyone, she would probably keep it. And if keeping the secret would help to save someone from unnecessary pain, then she would definitely keep it. Like if Spike's crush on Rarity wasn't obvious and Applejack was the only one who knew about it, I don't think she would tell because she knows that Spike isn't ready to tell and the secret getting out would just embarrass him.

The problem would arise for Applejack if a friend had done something wrong and they were avoiding the consequences by keeping a secret. Applejack would probably keep that secret, but because of her sense of justice, a concept which is closely related to truth, she would probably feel really bad about it until the issue was resolved.

What about the episode about Flim and Flam's magical cure tonic? She technically lied during that episode. And she even went as far as letting Flim and Flam guarantee that it worked because "Applejack the most honest pony in Ponyville said so". She lied to Applebloom too, and by the end she comes around and confesses but that didn't cause a loss of a friendship. She gained a friend with the stallion who was posing as a patsy. He saw how hard it was for her to tell the truth after she lied to the town, but she told the truth anyway and that caused him to realize it and he fixed the problem.

I don't think it works against her, I think that if you are honest and truthful then people/ponies are going to respect you more for that then if you tried to cover up with a lie. Yes there are things you may want to hide like the surprise party. But, those are different types of situations.

Applejack is so awesome, she can do something that people seem to think is impossible. She can be honest without being a complete jerk.

In fact, most bronies think she's blunt and cold. In fact, she's the opposite for the most part. (sure, she's blunt once in awhile, but she's typically able to be honest without hurting others whenever possible... for the most part.... (I know, she was cold and blunt in Rarity takes Manehattan. Still, Rainbow's shock implied that she's rarely like that." Applejack does a great job living up to her element and still being a friendly pony.

But on your topic, it doesn't work against her friendship. If she was honest in the sense of "I'm just going to be a jerk, and I don't care about you one bit." kind of honest, which is the kind of honest just about everyone who says they are honest is like. then it would cause problems in her friendship. But she does care about her friends, so it doesn't work against her friendship. You can't expect her to be honest 24/7. I think "I have never lied." is a lie. Most of her lies are white lies. The worst lie she ever told on her own free will was that the tonic worked. That was a lie that made ponies lose their money. It was implied that ponies no longer trusted her at the end of the episode, and I don't blame them. But it didn't cause any problems for her friendship.

In regards to Flim & Flam's fake cure, AJ bent the truth into a pretzel.  However, her statements were deceptive but not technically lies.

The late, great Robert Heinlein (in Time Enough for Love, ? ICR) said something to the effect "Someone who tells the truth on all occasions probably has other unpleasant habits as well"

No, speaking your heart is best. I don't see the point otherwise. Some people still complains I'm a little too honest, though. I'm not being blunt, it's that they've been taught to deceive themselves.

"Thanks, but ouch!"

I believe the mane six would expect honesty from each other, being able to work things together. Being able to help each other.  Like an honest hug, that does require some brave honesty!
