Spike origins?

Since it seems S5 is tying up the loose ends, do you think Spike will get some development in S6? Maybe some info on his origins, or maybe he grows up?

I'm curious as to what will happen to him in the finale without twilight hatching him...

Spike was born by a female dragon, somepony stole the spike egg, Twilight hatched him and got her cutiemark and that's his backstory! Also! If you watch season 2 episode 21's "Dragon Quest" he finds out what being a dragon really is

What Spike needs is a dragon elder to tell him what it really means to be a dragon that he should ultimately make the choice ultimately what kind of dragon he wants to be. Spoiler Alert: The elder dragon is also a past dragon assistant who ultimately choose to go down his own path and being around Spike makes him think about his own life choices and whether or not they were the right ones.

The moral could be to follow the path you feel is the right ones but still remember the ones who got you where you were or something like that. This could be one of those instances where both the teacher and the student teach each other.

It looked like they were going to attempt that Dragon Quest, but we all know how that went  >_> . And it looks like Princess Spike is gonna be the only Spike episode this season....which sucks a lot

Still, I don't think this means we won't see his origin brought up in Season 6 though

I would enjoy another episode concerning Spike and his dragon origins vs his pony upbringing. Dragon Quest was a joke. I would like a serious episode where Spike actually learns something about his past or his nature - sort of like Secret of My Excess, I guess, but not negative.

I don't want him to struggle with a choice between choosing dragon society over pony society - everyone knows he would choose the ponies. But I would like to see him take to heart, and maybe even relish, what dragonish qualities make him him. I would really like Twilight to be involved, since she is the main pony figure in his life, but I don't want her neurotic tendencies that were present in Dragon Quest. I want some deep emotion and bonding between them.

I just really like the Twilight-Spike dynamic okay??? :P

I'd like to be able to write a fanfic or see an MLP comic where Spike has all these answers answered. Basically Dragon Quest done right. The benefit of that is that they'll be able to show and say a lot more than a 22 minute episode could. Would you guys be opposed to that? He'd still be the comic relief in the show but he can continue to be written great in fanfics and in the comics.

Do you think the fanbase as a whole would mind a mini arc concerning Spike's origins?

Mini-arc? heck no, I would love a mini-arc like what the CMC got this season, with couple episodes focusing on what he wants to be in life ending with a climax episode like todays. (Like how we got appleloosa's most wanted and then this one).

Just as long as its not a two parter and doesn't steal too many episodes from the season.

This would require them to completely retcon the idea that dragon society as a whole is terrible and emotionally inferior to ponies that was put forth in dragonquest.

granted, lots of people seem to want that, as the comics did a comic doing just that and saying that there are lots of "good" dragons out there (albeit in a horrible way with the dragons looking like weird humans instead of, y'know, DRAGONS), so its not something that is impossible.

How about like a secret society of dragons that live amongst ponies too? Some that Spike can relate to and feel like he's part of a group for the first time. No BS. Heck, how about that they heard about him from afar and kind of look up to HIM. Though he tells them that he's trying to figure out some thing about himself like the others.

They look up to him? Maybe they hear he saved the Crystal Empire?

In The Cutie Mark Chronicles (S1E23) it shows Twilight hatching Spike as part of her entrance exam for Celestia's school.  This + his still being with her during the pilot is why it is usually assumed that Twilight raised him.  AFAIK it is never explained where the egg came from or if there are any other dragons in Canterlot.

As to the behavior of the other dragons in Dragon Quest.  They are obviously the dragon equivalent of teenage guys.  If aliens had come to Earth during the late 1960s & judged the human race by the guys I hung out with then... Well, let's just say we'd be lucky if they just vaporized the planet & let it go at that.

In short, it is quite plausible that Dragon society is a LOT more mature than you might suppose from just seeing Garble & crew in action.  As to more Spike episodes, meh IDK.  There have been some good ones but overall they tend to be lame.

What were some good Spike episodes?
