DormantAccount 308 October 12, 2015 Share October 12, 2015 I have a Samson CO1U Works pretty well One way to get an expensive microphone cheaply is to look out for "B stock" Mine cost me around $40. While the SM58 is certainly better than some gaming headset or USB mic, it doesn't fit everypony's voices. I know from personal experience (we have one of these at the band) that it doesn't fit mine. Kithop 19 November 16, 2015 Share November 16, 2015 Mics are very situational - what is it going to be used for? Live applications, I splurged on a BETA58A. Studio, I'm using an Audio-Technica AT2020 (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDo_o70oI0Y&list=PLQH2QUt1epC3zuLiftCvhrjLMT70vTQDh) - they make an 'AT2020USB' that's the same thing, but with a USB interface instead of a standard XLR condenser that needs phantom power. The BETA mics are much more expensive, but you get a bit more clarity and top-end out of them, I find. They can also be pretty hot, gain-wise. El Duderino 879 November 16, 2015 Share November 16, 2015 (edited) Blue Yeti is an easy to use USB mic. Averages around $100 (us dollar). I use the Zoom H2n to record my music. It can plug in straight to a computer or speaker via aux cable or USB. It also has an SD card reader, so you can take it on the go. You can even plug in an extra external microphones to it. Its a little more pricey than the Blue Yeti (about $50 more) but it is really good and versatile. There are plenty of other great mics out there, but I can personally say this one is really good.
