McCarthy said Twilight would not outlive her friends. This leaves a couple options.

 

A. "It's never going to come up in the show, stop bothering me, go away". She doesn't worry about that because the show will never reach a point where they have to answer that question or deal with it, and as she doesn't really have a plan for weather or not twilight is immortal is more or less brushing the question aside.

 

B. Only Natural born alicorns are immortal and Twilight, as an artificial alicorn, is mortal.

 

C. The other 5 will become alicorn princesses too.

 

D. The other five are bound to twilight's life force in some way so that even if they aren't alicorns they're immortal too.

 

E. twilight dies in an epic battle.

 

 

 

Personally, I'm thinking A. myself. I don't think They, the staff, have a hard and fast book for alicorns so if its not important they'll just give a vague answer and move on.

Past that, option B seems the most likely as a second.

Knights of the round; Seats for everyone, only one king. I place the odds of the other five becoming alicorns at less than 1% at the moment. It is NOT going to happen. (And I say this as someone who would absolutely LOVE for that to happen XD)

but think of the toy selling possibilities - one pony alicorn mold - so many colour combinations...

 

Heck they can now technically make a big mac alicorn mold due to the dream sequence - those crafty writers.. it doesn't have to actually be real, it just has to at some point have been shown in the show

People bring up the toy thing, but I think hasbro would rather just come up with things like Rainbow power that are much, much cheaper (You just recolor something and stamp on a few stickers).

I don't think alicorn princesses would neccessarily be the gold mine people would expect it to be.

I was always under the impression that it isn't being an alicorn that gives you longevity, but rather it comes with the job of raising and lowering the moon, so Luna and Celestia have the longevity.

Talk about a sweet health benefit.

 

Up to now it hasn't been officially confirmed that being an alicorn means living for thousands of years. I doubt they'll go the path of "Cadence will outlive her husband".

It seems to make more sense that however Luna and Celestia took up the role of sun and moon raisers, that is what gave them their longer lifespans.

Cadence looks visibly younger than her current self,

this implies that she ages in a similar fashion to any other pony,

True. But keep in mind that aging into adulthood doesn't neccessarily mean one's not immortal. Celestia and Luna were just children when starswirl found them, and yet they were adults before he died, since starswirl was quite old in the Reflections comic.

As far as I know, neither Twilight or Cadence will live eternally. For some reason unbeknownst to me, Luna and Celestia are special cases in this regard. Could be that they are sorta like demigod Alicorns while Cadence and Twilight were not born as Alicorns.

No, Twilight Sparkle will not live forever. Not even Celestia and Luna will. And I think it's safest to assume that only those who are born alicorns get the longevity of the royal sisters.

this begs the question though - how long DO alicorns live for? Is it forever? Do they have a shelf life? Is it determined by magic potential? And with twilight being the princess of magic, would that not mean she would live the longest since a ) she has the highest magic potential and b ) she took in all 2 alicorns magic when she fought tirek, and I am sure that somehow would affect her?

 

Also what about the tree of magic magic - would that not have altered the mane 6 as well?

I always thought that Alicorns(and to an extent, high-level unicorns)

can live indefinitely as long they have the will and the magic to do so,

this is because of all the timey whimey spells that reaches one's fingertips

once enough knowledge and magic is attained.

So as to the question, could twilight live the longest?

possibly, she would if she wanted to but she doesn't so she won't

her ties to her friends would likely keep her from following down that path.

There is no definite answer to this question, so maybe and maybe not.

 

I doubt the show is concerned with itself on matters like this, and it is unlikely the show will ever reach a point where this becomes relevant to anything.

 

Frankly there is not enough information on alicorns to say one way or the other and all we have so far is speculation and assumptions.

I doubt it, as we can see in Cadance. She was a teenage pony during Twi's flashbacks, and now she's an adult mare, and she was already an alicorn during those flashbacks. She was born as a pegasus
