critique wanted Help with New Art Style?

Lately I got really bored with my usual style and tried out something completely different for a change. I wanted to aim for a style that had both the cartoony elements of a character and the realistic anatomy along with it. This is stuff that Disney tends to do. I decided to try it out on some of the Poniverse mascots, which you can check in the spoiler below.

 

 

 

 

 

Even if I'm happy with the overall results, I do feel as if this style is similar to a famous brony artist named Dennybutt. Like, way too similar. By the time I finished off the Viridian Meadows sketch, I realised how I could probably be stealing one's art style. Yet at the same time, I am pleased with what I have drawn, so as a result I feel conflicted with what to do with this new art style.

 

This is where you guys come in. What should I do to make my new art style less Dennybutt-like? How can I still make my style both cartoony and realistic without feeling as if I'm stealing one's style? Don't hesitate to give out scathing criticism, by the way.

How does one "steal" an art style? As far as I know, having a similar style is no crime and would be very silly to see anyone getting mad over it. That would also cut out having someone as an influence since doing so would mean you take pieces of what they do in their art and apply it to your own.

 

I say continue using the new style to your hearts content. It looks good, you like it, and it's not harming anyone whatsoever ( so long as you don't pretend to be said artist if someone should mistake you for them).

Maybe you could make the eyes a different style or the legs.

Don't be discouraged to use anyone's style. Walt Disney trained people to draw like him. Dennybutt's art pieces blow my mind, all the time, especially the G1 collection. I wanna see more of this direction you're going towards...
