movies/tv MLP and Fairy Tail: Similarities?

I don't know how many bronies who watch Fairy Tail noticed this, but they (both the show in question and MLP) both seem to have the same general concept. Let me explain a bit:

 

1. Both shows emphasis on friendship in particular, although both portrayed in different manners, and in different settings, there is no doubt that it is the key theme.

 

2. Whenever a character does something for a friend, around a friend's needs, or anything involving a friend, they get rewarded in the end (either by beating the big bad boss, or just getting a smile).

 

3. Friendship = Power.

 

Is there anything else I missed, or misrepresented?

I don't really see any similarities between the 2 aside from friendship being a big factor.

I also see the third point, whenever they are about to lose a fight of some sort, they have friends who somehow give them strength to over come an object. This is pretty frequent in both series, just portrayed differently.

I guess it falls underneath that category, but that would be like comparing movies by genres. "These are both not really similar, they are both really only action and adventure."

I haven't read or watch much of Fairy Tail but I can't speak for it entirely but I can speak for the entirety of anime in general. Anime that focuses on friendship being a strong motivator or an element to win in a fight or whatever obstacle they face is a common theme. Naruto has moments it does this and One Piece is big on that as well. Of course there's also Dragon Ball that touches upon it sometimes.
