Will Celestia Get Her Own Episode?

How IS that when the fans have thought up about 5 million?

Because they might have a different viewpoint on how the character should act, what direction she should be go in, different opinion on what sounds like a good plot, different view on if the plot can fit within a 20 minute story.  There's also how even if there's a team of 12 writers, they won't necessarily come up with a good Celestia story, especially if her getting an episode isn't a priority thing that they need to make like it is for one of the mane six (and even then they failed at that for season and Rarity), just like not everyone in the fandom or even not everyone who actually spends time writing fanfics will come up with a good Celestia story.

That is ridiculous. You're seriously suggesting that 12 professional writers can't come up with a story for a character with that much potential?

They have the time and the money and the talent. The only explanation that I can think of is that they just don't care that much.

Celestia is a glutton for punishment. Time and again, she's been beaten and humbled. What makes you think future episodes will be any different?

She's not a glutton for punishment. She's a victim of the Worf Effect. The cheap tactic of showing how SUPER SERIOUS and SUPER TOTES DANGEROUS an antagonist is by easily taking down the most powerful character in the show: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheWorfEffect

Watch and be amazed as Superman is beaten up by some dork in a Mummy costume.

She pretty much is since she keeps getting humiliated in the show. She's been useless against every single villain that has shown their faces, or absent the case of Sombra, but that's a different issue.

And this is called the Worf Effect.

EDIT: Though several of the instances did have mentioned reasons for her being taken out.

But they still weren't handled that well.

Discord is flat out established to be stronger than Celestia and Luna without the Elements of Harmony.

Chrysalis seemed freaked out while facing Celestia and surprised that she won. The reason given is that Shining Armor's love was just that strong and abundant that it super charged her.

The Vines that grabbed Celestia and Luna were a Discord creation. 'Nuff said.

The Tirek plan would have worked if Discord hadn't been a sucker. And every other princess was in favor of it, not just Celestia.

The Smooze's ooze nullifies all magic. This actually wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't already so boring seeing Celestia get Worfed to oblivion.

EDIT 2: Also people only ever say Celestia is the useless one, while Luna is never anywhere to be seen during these problems and gets no flak for it. Maybe she sleeps though it all. Or is playing TF2 with her headset on. Priorities, you know.

I think its less that they don't care and more that she's just not a priority character in the greater scope of the show. Her getting an episode isn't a necessary thing when coming up with enough plots to fill a season, and because the writers are more used to thinking up stories for the mane six, the CMC, and Spike, they probably end up thinking of more ideas for them first. I think Discord is probably higher priority to make use out of, like they probably have de Lancie on contract or something now so they need to get some use out of him every season to make him worth his paycheck while Nicole Oliver can be used for other roles in the show. And Luna probably is just an easier character to come up with story ideas for than Celestia, since they came up with the story idea fuel of giving her dream powers, so good story ideas come up more frequently for her than Celestia.

But see that's the problem. They're starting to milk it.

Discord is starting to become passe. Luna IS passe. Spike is straight up abused by the narrative.

The CMC have their cutie marks and I'd LOVE to see some episodes of them helping other kids get theirs. But I think it's time to put a hold on that and devote some attention to the character that's been with us since the first episode and is a central player in the world and it's lore.

And stop using Spike as a buttmonkey.

At the very least, Mike Vogel, who became a writer for the show seems rather interested in writing an episode for her, so they might get ideas or was hinting that they do have something for her in season 6.

And unless you count her being depicted in a story book or being shown in the opening theme, Celestia actually didn't show up in person until the end of the second episode.

Sweet sundaes, I sure hope so.

*waves a little "Go, Vogel, Go" flag*

That is true. I always kind of think of the two-parters as single episodes.

Though she was also the beginning Narrator if I recall correctly, though the audience isn't supposed to know that.

And Luna didn't show up till the end of the second episode either (NM is not Luna).

Well, I also meant Luna, but she's gotten a second episode before her sister was even given a first. Celestia seriously feels shortchanged as a result, which is why I only mentioned her. But yes, all alicorn princesses not named Twilight Sparkle are damn useless against the big villain, well except for Cadance in the wedding episode, but that was the only time she did something, and it was at Celestia's expense. Celestia also couldn't even do anything about Nightmare Moon, and the Mane 6 are somehow able to bring back Luna while Celestia wasn't able to. I suppose more ponies using the Elements had something to do with the result, but with no real explanation, only guesses can be made. Maybe a story about Celestia and Luna failing again and again to protect their kingdom could be told, but I doubt the producers/writers/etc. are smart enough to come up with that.

Actually, the other princesses don't even know about Starlight Glimmer and her scheme if what's shown on screen is anything to go by, and they probably won't be involved with doing something about her evil plan if past 2-parters are anything to go by as well.

When we finally get a Celestia episode it would be paired up with Luna

And then it would stop to be a Celestia episode. It would be so typical.

Seriously, fuck that shit. I would stop watching this show, no matter how stupid this sounds. Okay, i would still search for Fluttershy episodes, but thats it.

When you finally get a Celestia episode it would be bad.

You think even worse than "Do princesses dream of magic sheep"? Not a good Luna portrayal at all, but it's still an episode for her and she doesnt totally suck.

I hope Vogel can do better, if he's even ever allowed to.

I do believe that Celestia will not have her own episode due to not having the most tragic back story, unless the implement fanfiction in which that would suck lots and lots of butt, but i do hope they do make an episode with celestia and Luna to sort of just feature them as the main characters for a time.

She should do. I'd like to see that.

I am an experienced cook, musician and care worker though, so that's something.

Since when do you need a tragic backstory to have an episode in MLP?

It could just be a slice-of-life episode of her rounding up mayhem in Canterlot Castle, with a bunch of colorful castle staff.

I'd watch the fudge out of that.

That's fair i guess, just princess Celestia is still a very powerful character in the mlp series so you'd expect something like that... Maybe Im just crazy though...

Even though my favorite princess is Princess Luna, I understand and I also wish that they would give Princess Celestia an episode. We haven't seen a lot of Celestia's inner problems and struggles, and in some ways she hasn't been built on emotionally like the other princesses. In " Do Princess's Dream of Magic Sheep" that Luna has guilt from being Nightmare Moon. We have seen Twilight's worries and struggles regarding her new role. In " Princess Twilight Sparkle" we saw that Celestia was saddened that she had to banish her sister to the moon, but that was about the only emotion I have seen from her. I will argue that we need to see more of Celestia's "human" qualities as a character. :)

Don't get me wrong. Seeing something really dramatic with Tia would be great.

But I'd have just as much fun watching the antics of her everyday life too.

1) Does she really need a tragic backstory? You don't need one to make a good character, just heart and effort. It can be a simple Slice of Life and it can work if they put the effort

2) Even if she did need a tragic backstory to get an episode, isn't banishing her own sister to the moon good enough?

my saying is that she is a semi major character and they don't wanna make this look like a 2nd rate bullsh*t  fanfiction, and maybe they will make an episode of her and her story but that would be hard cause they still need viewers and trust me if they f***ed up an episode like that i would rarely ever watch the show. and if you look at most of the slice of life episodes they all have some sort of tragic story but as i've said before i could be crazy
