This is a Nintendo patent filed in october. its for use of a freeform display. an the patent suggests its a portable.

There were rumors of Nintendo partnering with a comapny called Sharp, who supplied the glasses-free 3D screens for the 3DS, on such a technology.

So could NX in fact be a a portable that uses a freeform screen?

I think its possible and surely innovative. But my concerns are port optimization, price, and durability. And what would it be called?

I imagine the final product would look more like this.

I have no idea what in the world that means, but from the look of it, I don't like it. Drop your gimmicky pain-in-the-rear 'innovations', Nintendo and give us a powerful system with a nice, regular controller like the Pro Controller.

I was okay with the rotating shoulder buttons patent, but I wish now that Nintendo stops with gimmicks and gives the attention to good hardware, third-party support and other stuff.

Sometimes I'm still doubting the NX will work since Nintendo burned a lot of bridges down.

Japan, where Yo-Kai Watch's second movie has more success than The Force Awakens :umad:

Gotta say a whole lot of 'nopes' to this. Not sure what is brewing in the minds of corporate at Nintendo but if they are gonna make more gimmicky stuff, then count me out. The Wii U is a third party disaster and they will probably abandon it shortly after they release the NX too.

I am cautiously curious as to what they plan on doing with this, and if the final NX product will even be close to what has been teased and/or leaked up to this point. I'm not soley against their ideas for hardware, but considering that Sony and Microsoft have their spots in the industry solidified, Nintendo needs to bring the software. They've definitely got better with the Wii U, but it's a bit late now.

I have hopes, but I remain as I said; cautiously curious.

Not a fan of touch buttons, but I'm gonna take a wait and see approach to this when the final product comes, since patents are never a good way to judge a product before they come

I mean, people thought the DS was gonna be terrible when it was first revealed, then it ended up being one of the most popular and most successful platforms ever

Here's my problems: Cost, durability, game optimization, and usefulness. How is this gonna enhance my gaming experience. How is this advantageous over a regular screen with buttons and sticks on the sides.
