Starlight Glimmer if actually used should be Vegeta

So there has to be a pony that gets her butt handed to her before the main character comes to save the day, so I vote Starlight Glimmer the Vegeta of MLP. The on that fails on friendship and then Twilight comes over to show how it's done.

 

Otherwise if she becomes another Sunset Shimmer than that would be retarded and just the same thing.

To be honest, I like Abridged DBZ more than the ACTUAL canon DBZ dub XD

 

Abridged freeza for example is fantastic.

while I won't dispute that a character like that can be INCREDIBLY entertaining (Black mage from 8 bit theater for example, and arrogant and amoral character who's the universal butt monkey), problems arise here in that the mane six are all good guys and starlight is supposed to be one too now, so it'd be hard to do a vegeta/black mage style character well without making them outright too evil for the mane six to really logically interact with :/

 

Plus, Dash kind of already fills the vegeta function in that she tends to act brash and then get shut down in some way, like in Secret of my excess when spike takes her out while she's threatening her.

Yeah that DBZA clip does about sum up Vegeta in most of the series from the moment he first forms an Alliance with Krillin and Gohan.

Okay first off, if anyone's going to be the Vegeta, it's going to be Sunset Shimmer. For one thing EQG 1 Sunset's personality and foil to Twilight are more in line with Vegeta's characterization. Sunset was arrogant, proud, believes herself to be the best by default, and out of the Twilight foils we've gotten, the least like Twilight while sharing similar backgrounds and skills which is what Vegeta was to Goku. Also Sunset always seems to be second best to Twilight, especially after Friendship Games. 

 

Secondly, the show is never going to have a character like Vegeta, let alone it be Starlight. (I mean Discord is close but I consider him more analogous to Piccolo, anyway I'm getting off point). Vegeta was never instantly forgiven and never really remorseful. I mean in the Freiza arc he's still a bad guy and the one the heroes have the most trouble with early on, until they were forced to team up to stop the Ginyu Force and later Frieza. Heck part of the reason they let the Androids come is so there's a new threat on the horizon to stop Vegeta from kicking shit up again. 

 

Thirdly...Wait you mean you want Starlight to be the punching bag for the villain of the season until Twilight shows up and saves the day?  Yeah I'm cool with that, especially if she gets completely wrecked!

Nah, if they made her like Vegeta, her redemption/backstory wouldn't be so laughable. Hell she would've still been bad by the end and would probably take another season to develop her
