Tissue Paper Pony Portraits (and more!)

Hello! Been working on some cool things...at least I think they're cool and would like some feedback as well as just a place to dump my art and let others view it

 

Back when I was in high school, I created a portrait out of tissue paper and it was easily one of my favorite pieces. Throughout college, I focused on other things and didn't really recreate that process at all, until my senior year. For my senior show in college, I decided to create a tissue paper portrait series and hang them in the gallery. They got a HUGE reaction and people seemed to really love them.

 

 

Now that I'm out of college and into graduate school, I'm trying to create more and sell my art in order to make a living for myself. While looking back at what I like to make, the tissue paper portraits came immediately into my mind. SO. I've been making "fandom tissue paper portraits" and they should be able to be sold soon. Before I add them to my etsy shop, however, I would like some feedback...so what do you guys think? Do you think these will sell? I don't know...I'm looking for any kind of feedback really...

 

 

Obviously, these aren't completed yet, but I like how they're starting to turn out, what do you think?

 

Oh! I also made this Asuka one for Jesse Wood, Drowning in Horseshoes, and gave it to him a few weeks ago when I saw him because she's his waifu and I knew he'd love it...and he totally did

I love them.

 

I'm not very well educated in art in the real world, so I can't answer for certain your question of "Will these sell?" This is just a wild guess, but I think they're great, but may need a little touching up to really make them "shine", if you know what I mean.

Thank you for the kind words and advice, I think I know what you mean and will keep it in consideration. The only finished piece, really, is the very top image, so I should be able to touch up the pieces that are still in progress. Thank you for your feedback, it's very highly appreciated

 

Once the pieces are complete, I'll be sure to post them on this thread and hope to hear some more feedback as well

Well I completed the Pinkie Pie and have her mounted and framed. I really like how she turned out and hope the rest turn out as well

I'm not sure how much that stands out in reality, but there are several gaps visible in the Spike one. Not so much that it's a bother, but still.

 

The Pinkie one is awesome however I can imagine the expression of someone coming into your house for the first time, being cool and all... blam! Wild Pinkie Pie appears. And then they laughed happily ever after.

 

One thing that comes to mind when looking at these is if you could make the borders borderless, they would be so much sweeter. They only really show in Pinkie's face's outline, so never mind that, just a wild try at constructive criticism.

Thank you both so much for the feedback! And yeah, Spike does seem to have some gaps; I'll try addressing that more on future ones. As for the borders on Pinkie's face...it's really hard not to get them on there but I can definitely keep trying. Thank you for the feedback, I really do appreciate it!

no probsy i just love seeing amazing crafts tho it makes me jelly it gives me inspiration of my own     not that im gonna take your craft , meaning like .. i wanna do some awesome stuff too

You should! I think it's so important to stay creatively stimulated; if you think you're interested in art or crafts, you should try it sometime and see what you really enjoy doing. Once you figure out your favorite medium to work in, the rest is history!

im always trying to find crafts to work in .. weirdly enough i take an interest in cosplay gear , weapons an stuff xD kinda weird but still i love that kinda stuffies ^~^ thankies for the creative  motivation !

I don't think cosplay gear is a weird thing to take interest in at all! I actually think it's pretty cool You should make a thread about your crafts and let the world know

Just finished up this lovey dovey Rarity piece. I didn't like how the mat looked in it so I'm going to make a smaller mat for this one. The others have a 1 inch mat and I think I'm going to make a 1/2 inch mat because the one inch covers up too much of this piece. Let me know what you think

The thicker mat is better because the lack of the neck is less noticeable.. seriously, why is the neck not there?

 

Lines still visible around the face and the smile looks fake somehow.

 

Still amazing though ;D
