Would ponies have a winter coat?

Real life ponies and horses, like many mammals, have a thicker winter coat of fur. (They look super cute and fluffy ) Would ponies in Equestria have a winter coat like this too?

Probably though there are likely some limits on how much protection said coats would offer, they are ponies and not polar bears after all. I would assume the amount of protection they would offer would be similar to a small to mid sized dogs winter coat.

Probably not. In the episode Winter Wrap Up, we saw ponies wearing clothes to stay warm. If they had winter coats, they wouldn't need warm clothes. I do think a pony with a fluffy winter coat would be adorable, though!

Of course they have Winter coats -Rarity makes them.  (in the Winter Wrap Up song, Rarity notes "this fashion's getting old")

..Hope so because that sounds ADORABLE.    Previous posts about said winter coats offering not too much protection sound plausible.. at least, such that the ponies wouldn't then be sweltering in winter garments.  But surely many ponies, at least in Pony Nudist Colonyville, go about naked even in winter, so a winter coat woouuld make adorable sense.

It wouldn't be hard for the animators to do winter coats.  All you'd need is a few little curvy arrow shaped lines in the color of their outlines drawn throughout their body.  I'd love to see that in a winter episode.  But judging from the ratio of winter to non-winter episodes on FIM, I'd estimate that winter in Equestria lasts for about 2 days.
