ManaMinori 4,149 January 29, 2016 Share January 29, 2016 How would you envision mana to differ from the magic we've seen? I can see ponies in Eastern cultures (not Equestria) being mana users, and mana working like alchemy and what magic we've seen from magical wielding ponies this far. Deconstruction of atmospheric magical properties that grant regular magic, through said magic, and reshaping the placements of those atmospheric elemental building blocks, to form an mana magic (i guess basically marriage of science and magic. Which may or may not be on par with Eastern Equestria's Alicorn magic, since it hardly compares to Friendship magic) Thoughts on mana being introduced in Mlp? How would you think it would differ from regular magic? Megas 28,139 January 29, 2016 Share January 29, 2016 It'd be a terrible idea. I mean in most RPG settings(at least from what I remember) Mana and Magic are usually interchangeable. Introducing mana as its own separate thing would more likely just cause a ton of confusion
Raven Rawne 1,381 January 29, 2016 Share January 29, 2016 Now that's an interesting idea. Hmm, the current Equestrian magical system is based on the wielder's power of concentration to perform complex mental tasks required to make a spell work (or atleast it appears to be the case), so mana has no place in unicorn magic. Though some other racces could potentially make use of it... The best idea I can come up with off the top of my head is magitech. Basicaly a race with advanced magical science could harness magical power (or mana), encase it in some corporeal vessel, and use it as fuel for their apparatus. Gemstones seem like a good option. With a stable power source, you could create simple golems and other magically powered devices, though they would have to be manually controlled, unless you could encase a "spirit" in it, in order to have an operator. That's how golems work in RPG's. For an example, check out Asura from Guild Wars 2. Other than that, mana could be used in a variesty of ways: as a magical steroid, a way to speed up recovery from injuries, the possibilities are endless for those who know how it works. Science wil reveal the Truth. Eventually...
Limeblossom 482 January 29, 2016 Share January 29, 2016 *reads mana* If MLP introduced that we'll see a Fateless One Cutie-Markless One soon. Japan, where Yo-Kai Watch's second movie has more success than The Force Awakens
cider float 2,539 January 29, 2016 Share January 29, 2016 I can imagine Zecora involved with mana... but I think the mechanics involving just magic is fine as it is.
cmarston1 5,964 January 29, 2016 Share January 29, 2016 (edited) Seeing as how interchangeable magic and mana are, things could go wrong or in an attempt to change it things could get convoluted. Edited January 29, 2016 by cmarston1
