The article comes from a user named "Geno" who has been correct about a lot of leaks in the past. To get the full article you can look here: http://www.gamnesia.com/news/rumor-a-leaker-with-a-great-track-record-revealed-megatons-of-info-about-ni

ReviewtechUSA weighed in on this as well:

Keep in mind these are all rumors still, but they are gaining some traction.

This is... Weird. Like I can see this working on a DEVELOPER level because if the OS is similar to Android, and has a lot of linking with your smartphone it will be SUPER easy to develop for. Hardware wise, it'll be much better for devs to work with more hardware, but I am a little concerned that it's saying it is "closest" to the Xbox One. Given that of the two consoles the Xbox One is easily the weaker of the hardcore consoles, I worry that it means "closest" as in "slightly weaker" which will at LEAST put the NX in the same area where it can make games that are pretty close in terms of graphics, but still lower graphics than the PS4. The hard part about that as a sell is that you have a console that is more or less 3 years newer and STILL weaker than the PS4. This may not be a good move because it gives PS4 gamers no incentive to switch which right now Nintendo NEEDS people to switch. The Wii U is more or less tapped out in its market which is Nintendo loyalists and it's not enough to keep the system afloat, so they need something to convince non-loyalists to get the system and use it. Nintendo has been stuck in this "second console" bracket where people get it as the second console and use it only for the first party games and shelf it after. They NEED to become people's FIRST choice in gaming if they are going to survive.

From a development point though, this will be a breeze to develop for and there are super cool features such as taking the multiplayer to a new level and integration of smartphones.

However... The problem I am seeing from a consumer standpoint is it might be a little... Too different... This system sounds like it won't be a conventional console, which could work to their advantage in making them standout, but it also could be too awkward for gamers. Remember the core players generally want simplicity. A lot of consoles sell because they are easy and convenient. No need to look at specs and parts and what would be needed to run something or setting up a place to play, just buy a box, plug it into the TV and you know it'll work. The NX sounds like it's going to use another big controller and the system may be too awkward. I get that Nintendo needs to stand out, but this may be moving to a direction that is too different.

The other issue I see is NintendOS. Nintendo fears people think it's Android which tells me it is going to look and feel a lot like Android. Which from a dev standpoint it's golden, but from a consumer... That makes me believe that it's basically a mobile OS they are adopting to a gaming console and we all know how that has gone when you look at all the Android gaming devices that have come out.

I mean this could all be SUPER good stuff if executed properly, but given Nintendo's track record of trying too hard to be different, I don't know if this will go well or bad. I'd say it's 50/50 and we definitely can ALL agree that at E3 this year: everyone's eyes are on Nintendo. Even the diehard PS4 and Xbox fans are going to be looking because it's clear Nintendo intends to make a big noise with the NX.

There is another elephant in the middle of the room though... Apple. I'll be blunt: Apple has become the richest computer company in the whole world, literally. They surpassed Samsung and now basically make a ton of money. While they attempted gaming back with the Apple Pippin, they may be ready to take another crack at it with the success of iOS and their insane amounts of revenue. Apple is literally at the point where they could make a console right now, and it flop and still be at no risk of their company going under. Apple generates so much more money than Microsoft and Nintendo combined. They have the revenue to get into the industry and iOS has been classified as a gaming platform, and Apple has gotten a lot of developers to give timed exclusivity to them such as Bethesda for apps. So it wouldn't be hard for Apple to get into the industry and Nintendo needs to not only think about the competitors that are THERE, but also the possibility of new competitors.

A lot of it sounds promising, but at the same time, a lot of it leaves me a bit worried, mainly, as you said, with execution being the difference maker. I don't think there's a problem with trying to be different as it usually helps a product stand out, but at the same time your at the risk of being intrusive to the experience rather than improving, which was a huge problem with the Wii and Wii U(especially when not used properly)

That said, if this is true, I do like hearing that it's very easy to develop for, at the very least this means porting won't be a pain in the ass like the Wii and Wii U was, and hopefully this means it won't miss out on games as much as the other 2. I'm mixed on the whole "on par with the Xbox One" as it could also mean "slightly weaker" or slightly stronger", normally it's better to make your console to be more powerful than the competition, but I don't think it'll hurt 'em significantly and I'd assume they want to release it at a competitive price by sacrificing power, but leaving enough to still hold it's own. And I don't think Nintendo has to worry about the next gen of consoles for now once you take into account that the last gen lasted longer than any other gen of consoles, and considering how well the Xbox One and especially the PS4 are currently doing, I could see Sony and MS sitting on their current consoles for a bit longer

Also, since this rumor is also NX-related supposedly by the same guy so I figured it's worth putting here. Looks like Nintendo might pull another Bayonetta 2 with Beyond Good and Evil - http://www.destructoid.com/rumor-nintendo-funding-beyond-good-and-evil-sequel-346059.phtml

Introducing the Apple I-Game

No but seriously didn't Apple Already try the console market and they flopped horribly or something? I could of swore I heard something like that awhile back.

As for the Nintendo NX, I have a feeling its going to be a super powered handheld gaming platform that can be turned into a console. The emphasis is going to be placed on the mobility, and they are probably going to develop AR games for it like Pokemon. What I think they are going to shoot for is to get in on the success of their most popular device, the 3ds, and craft their platform around that.

Still, if It doesn't feel comfortable to take around with you and its to expensive to really trust it outside the house those features are going to fall flat, so they need to curb the price and make it something that can work as a handheld and a console. This is just theories though.

Yes, the Pippin, I mentioned that. It was a different time and the market research wasn't there. Apple could far far better nowadays.

I am getting another 'third party disaster' from this already. An Android OS? Not even on par with current gen consoles? And of course, the Wii U will most likely be abandoned shortly after the launch of the NX. That seems to be the Nintendo way over the past several years.

And we got more rumors and leaks in. One reddit user said to have the NX development kit and posted an image of it:

Comes close to the pattern leaks.

Gonna wait and see if Nintendo responds because this thing looks faker than a 3 dollar bill. I'm aware that people have "proven" it isn't photoshopped, but people have gotten so elaborate with some leaks that it's hard for me to trust them.

If it DOES turn out to be true, then I'm definitely not looking forward to this controller

The bottom censor looks like a piece of tape. Still it does look close to the design of the patent, but the thing is: the final product almost never looks like the patent at all.

However if this is real... I smell disaster for Nintendo as this is just going to be Wii U 2.0...

Update: It was confirmed by TechnoBuffalo that this is a fake.

Thanks for mentioning.

It's like Nintendo is completely isolated from any feedback. Most gamers love to see a good functioning console, not more gimmicks. The motion controls never became revolutionary as Nintendo wanted to happen.

When I was young I really wanted to play a Star Wars game with motion controls. swinging with a light saber and using the force to screw up the levels . It never came. But Red Steel 2 was close to my wish, luckily.
