Kyubi could feel the heat given off from the funnel, even at the distance she was at, and quickly took flight. The only reason she was safe was because she was so far away from whatever came out of the ground. The bat pony then notice a dragon from her use of echolocation and decided to tag along with it.

As the ponies retreated, so did the funnel, satisfied with their distance. It seemed to ignore the flying creatures as well, as if it wanted to scare them away. The camera, however remained up, surveying the area with its meanecing green glow. It was here the hammering began, loud clangs, coming from the heart of the pit. Every few minutes, a puff of smoke began to rise from the pit.

 

Back near the town, a royal scouts were directing ponies to take shelter in homes and other hardened shelters. As this happened, soldiers began to arrive from Canterlot. With them, came large siege machines and other heavy weapons, they had prepared for the worst. Ponies from the Cylinder began to pour back into the town, many grabbing belongings and other items, ready to run. Chaos began to spread as new of the now named " heat Ray" began to spread.

It didn't take long for Gale to notice the bat pony following her and figured that it would be good to have someone like her for when she ha to deal with ponies. "Should we head for the town? I have a cave not to far from there, so we should be able to hold up there." The dragoness doubted that the monstrosity behind them would be interested in a cave, but it would be heading for the town either way and may notice her home.

Dusk touched down at the train station, which was occupied by a sea of panicked ponies clambering to get aboard the train.

 

He had to get on board. He needed to get back to Manehattan before he was burned alive.

 

Too bad about the town, though hopefully everypony will make it out alive. Most importantly himself.

the train station platform was crowded beyond belief. Many ponies were trying to get out, now that they saw that whatever was in the pit was dangerous enough to warrant the military to come in after it. As the Musician tried to get a place, a much larger earth pony shoved him down.

 

"Out of the way squirt" He shouted, pushing aside several other ponies. He was acting tough, though just like everyone else, he was frightened and scared. As he moved, a group of nurse ponies with a severely burnt stallion, no doubt caused by the heat ray, came in behind Dusk, trying to move their way through the crowd with the frightened pony.

Dusk couldn't say he was enjoying being within the cramped crowd at the platform. He understood the panic, but he was never one for large groups of ponies.

 

He scowled as the larger earth pony pushed him aside, but he willingly made room for the nurses leading the injured pony through. "Hey, make room up ahead!" He called.

Kyubi gave a slight nod. "That could work. I need to drop by my home, though. There are a few things that I need to pick up." She said. The bat pony also hoped that Dusk and the other ponies in the town would be ok. She didn't know how they would react to seeing Gale, though.

Gale nodded as she landed in the town's center. She didn't really like being this close to ponies, but figured that it would have to do for now. "Maybe they won't notice me in all their panicking." She thought. Granted, the bat pony would probably vouch for her if anything did go wrong.
