Is "My Little Pony: FiM" region locked for outsiders?

If i wanted to buy for example episodes from Amazon. Considering i have no other legal ways of obtaining new shows, and i want to support the show aswell. But considering i am from Europe, there is something called Region 1 which would be US and Canada. So would it be ok if i bought it from Amazon...

I just hate the guilt feeling i guess. But just wondering what you think?

It goes against Amazon's term of service. If they found that you bought it, they would probably remove it from your account, but they might refund you for it.

Ah ok. So it is region 1 protected?. I was just wondering. Because the link seemed to be optional for allowing to buy it wherever you are in the world. Or maybe i made the question confusing? What i ment is, is it legal to buy it from that link i posted if i for example live in Europe.

You could just buy a dvd player than can play any region. Just a thought. :P

Yeah. But i dont want to abuse the system. But i got an message from Amazon, and yeah... it is just for that region 1, but they did take my comment as a feedback and wanted to expand on the possibility of it going outside of US or something, but as it is it is more or less region protected. Oh well. I can just buy DVD with region 2. I'll just put on my patient hat and wait. But its a lovely show ^o^

this region system is pretty weird i think i mean with the internet and all people should be able to buy the stuff if they want to buy it  its same with netflix and all that  the usa has lot of shows in netflix and my country finland has just couple i mean   why they would sell the rights to show something by region it doesnt make sense

i hope someday people realise this error and remove the weird region system from corrupting this world

Hold on. I read on a site that its not illegal to watch stuff online, even if it hasnt permission from the owner, its only illegal to download but not to stream it. Even if it is copyrighted. Atleast in Norway.

So i am good. YES! I am not a criminal technically :pinkie:

I will just support it once it comes out on DVDs!

If gamers could figure out ways around region locks for games even in the days before all the major companies except Nintendo woke up and realized that there's no reason for region locking to exist anymore for videogames in the 21st century, then I'm sure there are methods to get a region 1 DVD working in Europe. Aren't there DVDs released in Europe? I thought there were. As for digital episodes, iTunes sounds like a good option.

Anyways, as show discussion is a board for discussing the show itself, I will move this thread to Sugarcube Corner.

Actually there kind of is reasons to region lock, just not the reasons why they are often done. It's often done just to do separate releases, but a legitimate reason would be like the content being banned in your country.

That depends if you consider that a legit reason, even setting aside the fact that content is almost always banned for arbitrary reasons. If you own a PlayStation or Xbox, nothing can stop you from getting the content you want, and the version you want (if your region got a version but it's censored). Banning really only means that certain content cannot be sold in a particular region. I see no reason why someone can't enjoy what they want to enjoy, especially in the digital age when local vendors don't even have to stock content they are forbidden from selling. If that was a legit reason for region locking, Sony and Microsoft would have done it.

However, I suppose various governments, and companies that operate in those regions might not think that's so arbitrary, so you do have a point there. All the more reason why the modding community exists. There are ways in which people can enjoy the content they have the right to enjoy in this free world of ours, regardless of what kind of media regime their country is imposing. I've never been dedicated enough to actually look into modding my system for that reason, but maybe my tune would be different if I lived in a region where certain content was banned.

Anyways, the point is, it's possible to get the content you want in this day and age regardless of the medium and where you live. Sofen's issue seems to be more around buying content legally, but there are definitely options for that too. As others have said, iTunes seems like the best option, unless there's a European version of the DVDs. Whatever the reasons, My Little Pony isn't the kind of series that should cross any boundaries in terms of content.

Wait, what? Buying something that isn't from your region is against their terms of service? Why? You're just showing support for it, right? Besides, a PC can play anything as I found out when I bought a RWBY DVD which was mislabeled as Region 2 when it was actually Region 1.
