This show's direction is exactly what I wanted.

So I recently took a dive and watched all of mlp for the first time. I loved it and I will be finding a way to follow future seasons. However there are plot holes and things that could be expanded to make the show even better. 

 

Return of the changelings: I would love to see a return of the changelings as the episodes they were featured in were some of my favorite. however I would love one to be on the pony side, sort of like what happened to discord. Maybe a filly changeling or something. 

 

Equestrian war: A plot involving all ponies banding against a common threat (like the changelings) would be amazing. It can deal with the moral conflicts that arises from war, each characters position on it (Rainbowdash being for fighting for her friends cause she is loyal, Fluttershy being against it because of fear). Plus Celestia has an army for a reason. 

 

Expansion of non-pony races: Zebras and Griffins have been shown as sentient beings with their own culture that is intermingled with ponies. However they have not really been explored to any substantial degree. I would love an episode about why Zecora left her homeland or where griffins call their home. Also what are these creatures opinions on pony folk? 

 

Tougher morals: so far the show dealt with light issues and dilemmas but the show would benefit from plots that are harder to answer. Especially for the Cmc so they can grow and mature. 

 

giving more of a nod to fan content; Fan content is what drew me to mlp. I would love to see a stronger and slightly crazier Pinky Pie with deadpool level fourth wall breaking. Her sister Maud is phenomenally strong so it would not be a stretch to make her that way too. Also more references/ parodies of other things would be amazing. 

 

Rainbowdash writing; I would love to see rainbowdash starting to write like her idol and go through the common problems found with new writers like lack of conflict for mary sue main character and what not. 

 

What else would make the show even better? What do you want to see explored that they haven't yet?

 

 

Changelings are making a comeback, and one of them is indeed on the ponies side now since we've seen a changeling both at Cranky and Matilda's wedding and in the Season 6 premier (assuming that's the same changeling.) They were also featured in a war in an alternate future in the season 5 finale. Pretty much aced that want.

 

Equestrian wars have most definitely happened in the alternate futures of the season 5 finale, AND the guardian's of harmony theme that seems to be coming down the pike has a definite military theme too it. 

 

Expansion of the non pony races are certainly happening since the griffonstone episode and I'm pretty positive we will see more about Zebra's eventually. Plus this latest episode hinted that there are Giraffe and elephants in the show as well . I wanna see a Giraffe!

 

Tougher morals have also become a thing. They've gone over the concept of death and the grieving process, what cults are like, and a whole bunch of other interesting morals as of the fifth and probably the current season. 

 

And do I even NEED to point out the amount of fandom nods going on LOL. The 100th episode ALONE more than fulfills this.

 

 

All I need for my 2014 checklist to be complete is for Rainbow Dash to write some fiction because she likes reading so much now and we'll be friggin set!

Yeah, it has. Also, you're not the only one that'd like seeing Giraffes. I bet they'd be cool. I just hope they don't go the Deer route, Deers suck.

The show has this rich environment, but it's been mostly just ponies except for the Griffonstone episode last season. I guess it takes a lot of work to rig up new species for the characters to interact with in Flash.

 

I'm still waiting for Spike's origins to be revealed. Maybe we'll get some more clues in just a week and a half from now, plus by the looks of it some new dragon types.

I can definitely agree that the show isn't losing steam. With that being said.......these two have been on the street begging for more screen time.

 

 

I know they were in the season 5 finale... But we need more of these two dammit, they're still evil. With Tirek locked in Tartarus Chrysalis and Sombra need to step up their game.

it's going the right way yes but are they going far enough? I don't know for sure. I want to see more of season 6 before I can say that (but S6 might be the last season so.. yeah)

The show's theme of exploration is going in the right direction where we can take a closer look at these rich, new environments we have never seen before. I too want giraffes too!

To my knowledge Kevin is more of a animation flub, more or less, since he was from a cut plotline in that episode and just got left in (he was supposed to be the vanguard of a changeling swarm that was going to show up at the end when twilight was hugging the other 5, with him being there in the wedding being a foreshadowing joke, but the swarm ending was cut due to time)

 

And based on his card I don't think he's "on their side"

Sombra already got a full comic arc that takes him out of the show permanently more or less due to him becoming good.

So I think that its pretty much impossible for him to return, plus I doubt the show staff have any intention of reusing him since they okayed such a drastic carte blanche use of him by the comic staff (compare how they explicitly forbade them doing a discord Fiendship is magic comic since Discord's heavily in use by the show writers).

The only way they'd ever (or could) use sombra at this point would be to bring the alternate timeline sombra over, and that'd be a headache.

Given his character and backstory in the comics I was actually completely fine with him doing a heel face turn; What I disliked was that his attempt at a Heroic sacrifice was fixed with an overly sacharine ending of him becoming a "real" pony instead of fading away with his race from the crystal heart being activated.

 

 

I would much rather have had him just disintegrate as atonement for his actions and to put more weight on his choice in the end. As is, it was too sugary for my tastes.

I know right? I went back to my very first posts and found that among them and I was like "Well damn I got everything on that list except for the Dash trying to be an author thing. Which I still think would be an awesome plot for an episode by the way.
