Mercury shrugged and trotted out of the office.  She barely flicked her tail in acknowledgement of Shadow as she left. Trotting down a random hallway, Mercury grinned. She wasn't scared of Shadow; On the contrary, she was quite eager for him to try to fight her. He deserved to be knocked down a few notches. Or a few hundred.

 

Pretentious bastard, Mercury thought. Poor him. I almost feel bad for him, living life as if he's on the top when he's really the warden of some crappy prison.

 

Mercury watched Spellvamp run by and chuckled. Life was actually okay, and that nagged her just a bit.

a tentacle of Shadow grabbed her back leg. Shadow walked up and said, 
"Where do you think you're going? You still disobeyed. Don't make me drag you back, cause that's going to be painful."

Doc pulled out a thing of dentures and said,

"This will work for you."

Nightmare got off Missklang and said,
"What are you  doing? You know how much trouble you would be in if you missed it and landed outside?"

Mercury grinned at Shadow as she hung upside down. "Is it really such a big deal?" she asked. "It's just a suppression ring! All it does is make me unable to pick up by breakfast tray. Do you know how much of a hassle that is? My teeth still hurt..."

 

Mercury continued rambling for a long, long time, grinning all the while.

"Don't worry Redwood," Hooligan said comfertingly, "I won't let any pony ruin our special." He gave her a quick kiss on the forehead.

Hooligan grabbed the dentures off Doc, "thanks Doc," he said as he put them in his mouth, "also I wanted to ask, if its alright with Red, if you'll attend our wedding?"

"It's alright with me if Doc comes. Ah should maybe start lookin' fer a dress too," said Redwood. "Gotta look nice fer th' big day."

 

If Redwood were to go all out one thing, it would be the wedding dress. She normally wasn't a big fan of dresses, but for this, she was more than happy to wear one.

"You do know that I could repair your teeth, it was basically a joke, and I got those off a dead body."

Mercury grinned at him, dragging one hoof over her mouth as if zipping it shut. She crossed her forehooves and closed her eyes, acting as much like some movie actor as she possibly could while remaining silent. She shook her head, allowing her dark-red mane to coil below her hanging head.

 

Then she clapped a hoof over her mouth to muffle her snickers.

Hooligan spat the dentures out imediatly and started scrapping his tongue with his hoof. "Yeah I think fixing them might be a bit better than dead pony denture," said Hooligan giving them back to Doc, "so Doc will you be there at me and Redwood's wedding?"

"Doc, y'all would be doin' us a big favor if ya came," said Redwood. "By th' way, we should see if we can th' rest of th' day off or somethin' so we can do a little shoppin'. If we're havin' a weddin' along with kids, we're gonna need some things. Plus it'd be nice to spend some time with y'all."

"What were you going to do anyways, why were you on your way to my office?"

Mercury poked her lips, but said nothing. She simply smirked at him. Well, you told me to be quiet, she thought, so it's quiet for me. I actually rather like this. No talking, no need to explain myself. 

 

Her smirk spread into a grin. Mercury just hung there, watching Shadow silently.

Kurren$y winced with the pressure Shadow applied to the broken leg, but did not lose composure.

 

"Aye so where the f*** be that medallion? White gold please, so frosty even a snow-pony start shivering. O' maybe deck it wit yella so when I sip lemonade I be be like 'aaaayyyeeee'."

 

"Less you think we done here."

 

Kurren$y then proceeded to attempt to open the drawers on Shadow's desk. Finding all the ones he tried locked, Kurren$y began pulling slightly harder on the drawers.

Nightmare levitated Kurren$y away from the desk and placed him in a chair in the middle of the room.

Madness sighed, then dropped Mercury on the ground and said as he shut the door and locked it,

I'm sorry. There was a feral crazy changelling rushing at you at mark two. I didn't quite had the time to calculate the landing. Besides, if I were to accidently teleport outside, I would teleport back in immediately.

 

He jumped on Shadow's chair and start spinning, aiding it with some magic to spin faster.

Mercury nodded with a silent chuckle. Her eyes flitted from Shadow to Kurren$y and back again. With a nod, she trotted out of the office.

 

A click came from behind the closed door, so soft that it seemed not to exist. A faint noise that could only be described as a shimmer came from the helmet.

 

The helmet moved, dropping onto Kurren$y's head. The gray shimmer of telekinesis faded from around it.

 

Mercury smiled as she clicked her horn ring back on, ignoring the burning ache at the base of her horn. Buck you, Shadow, she thought.

Shadow sighed, opened the door and said as a cage of shadows formed around Mercury, 

"Don't you want something, like a harmless, but powerful, relic, that was given to me by an old unicorn?"

Nightmare grabbed the edge of the chair, that Missklang was on, and stopped it abruptly.

Missklang stopped abruptly by Nightmare. From such sudden stop, his head started to spin and he fell forward to Nightmare's feet.

 

Beuh... Why did you do that? I was having so much fuun...

 

He looked at Nightmare.

 

And I don't like you being all shaky and sick lately. Is something making you uncomfortable? I mean your magic is different than usual, and you had to grab pills and stuff... I'm worried...

"Nah," Mercury replied. She looked around at the shadows, seeming unruffled. "I'm perfectly fine procuring my own artifacts, thank you very much."

 

Inside, some animalistic part of Mercury was running in little circles, terrified and confused. Mercury didn't let the panic show on her face. It was just Darky being Darky, after all. Simple shadows. That small part of Mercury refused to shut up, however.

 

Mercury put one hoof on the bars. Finding them solid, she looked around. The nearest ceiling light caught her eye, fluorescent tubes humming faintly. She raised one stainless-steel horseshoe to the light, tilting it until her shoe reflected it onto one of the bars. Mercury hummed a tune.

"Well, now that yer mouth is fixed up, ah can do this," said Redwood before giving Hooligan a kiss. "Since yer all better now, how about we see about gettin' th' rest of today off? Like ah said, we got plenty of shoppin' to do so we can get ready fer th' kids and th' weddin'."

Shadow quietly slipped the collar and ring off and switched it. There was an audible click, then he said, 
"Don't bother trying to use magic or take the collar off. Only I can."

The cell collapsed around Mercury with Shadow behind her.

Nightmare said as she smiled, 
"Well, you do treat me well. It's just the nightmare, nothing to worry about."

Mercury shrugged. "Meh," she replied as she trotted away. With a flick of her  tail, she vanished around a corner. Twisting her neck as she walked, she examined her collar. By the Equestrian Bank, she thought. This might take me a whole ten minutes to crack. Eh, probably more than that, but I need the confidence.

 

She didn't bother testing her magic against the ring. Her little stunt earlier had caused her headache to return with a vengeance, and it was distracting and unpleasant. She'd have to wait for her magic to regenerate before trying anything. That was how the world worked, apparently. I'm gonna kill that little changeling bastard, she vowed.

 

But first, she was gonna take a nap.

He climbed back to the chair, but this time, without spinning.

 

Well, since we are here, and there is a feral changelling roaming outside, I say this is a great start for the day. 

 

He leant on Shadow's desk taking care not to touch anything. He didn't want Shadow getting mad for touching his things. Although, he was technically sitting in his chair, but he disregarded that.

 

Hey Mercury! 

 

He shouted at the disappearing mare.

 

Be careful. There is an evil Spellvamp that is roaming around and heading this way!

"Well, I'll stab him through the throat with my horn, then!" Mercury called back. her voice echoed down the hallway even as her hoofsteps faded away. Mercury yawned as she walked toward her cell. The warning had put her on edge, however. She kept her eyes roving as she walked toward her cell.

Hooligan nodded "sounds like a good plan to me," said Hooligan with a smile. He was so glad to see Redwood happy like this. Beacause when she was happy, he was happy and right now he was overjoyed. "But before that i wanted to mention that i may have a way of getting in touch with your family without sending a million letters"

Shadow walked in, grabbed the helmet and placed it in it's spot on the shelf, then he turned to Missklang and said,
"I wonder what her expression will be when she finds out it's cursed to not let any magic through and that there is no way for her to get rid of it unless she dies or I take it off since it belongs to me. What was she coming in here for anyways?"
