Copper's spirit continued the onslaught, delivering punch after kick after punch after kick, all while on the outside, he wasn't really affected much by the damage.  Electricity continued to purge out Copper's spirit, leading to outside, looking as if the armor was about to come off.

 

"IF YOU DON'T GET OUT OF MY BODY IN THE NEXT FIVE SECONDS, YOU'RE GONNA BE SORRY AS ALL HELL GET OUT!"

Rather than spend any energy on retorting, Redwood instead slammed the head of Copper's body into the warthog as hard as she could. Maybe this would somehow knock out or disorient him, or at leas do something. Copper was putting up a real fight, and Redwood wasn't sure how much longer she could hold out.

Copper's spirit held his head with his hoof, and so did the real Copper.

 

And that just about did it.

 

The electricity surrounding the spirit was greater than before, and what he did next would make Redwood regret coming to his body.

 

"You've done fucked up."

 

His whole body then turned a shade of gold, and he screamed a war cry, and so did the real Copper.  It couldn't be shown in his armor, but he had turned Super.

 

He smiled menacingly at Redwood.  "One last chance to get out of my body, before the real pain begins."

"Ah ain't done yet!" yelled Redwood.

 

She was able to get Copper's body to flop into the driver's seat of the warthog once more and hit the gas with his hoof. The warthog was headed straigh for the canyon wall, and if it kept going, it would most definitely crash and damage or even kill Copper's body.

Copper shook his head, and made his body fly off the Warthog before it crashed onto the cliff.  As soon as he landed, Copper's spirit said, "You know, you'd make a good friend of mine if this wasn't happening.  But I have to get you out of my body regardless, and we might play some other time as soon as this is over."  He brought a hoof down, and a hole opened in front of him, and after which he yelled, "NOW GET OUT AND STAY OUT OF MY BODY!"  He then kicked the ghost so hard she flew into the hole and out of Copper's body.

 

The real Copper took off his helmet just in time for the ghost to come out of his mouth.  He nearly choked for a few seconds before putting his helmet back on, waving a hoof to the ghost, and flying back to his base.

"Y'all ain't seen th' last of me yet!" Redwood yelled as she was thrown out of Copper's body.

Before she haunted the Blues, Redwood decided to check in with her team first.

 

She went back and appeared before Carmine, saying, "Carmine, ah'm th' ghost of Redwood. Them Blues killed me, but ah ain't gone yet."

 "Who the FUCK are you? And what is elbow grease? I don't think Ponies even have elbows! What use would that make for us!

"Ugh, here I go again." Sarge said sounding very annoyed. "If you don't know why you're here, or who I am, just FUCK OFF AND I WILL DO THIS MYSELF!" He stormed off into the hidden downstairs room and turned on the lights. "Now, where did I put those robot body blueprints?"

Button scratched his head at the lack of response from the body.

 

"It's a Red... at least the armor is.  And they're dead, too... at least, I'm pretty sure they are.  I should probably give the routine Life Sign Check."

 

He nudged the corpse with a single hoof, once.

 

"HEY!  IF YOU'RE NOT DEAD, SAY SOMETHING!"

 

He waited for a moment, then nodded to himself.

 

"Yup... stone dead.  Well, you gotta figure the Reds don't have much in the way of bits, because they bought a base that's the same make and model as ours - and ours is shit - so you gotta know they don't have bits to spare.  With that in mind, they'd probably have a deposit on this armor; they'd love to have it back, I'm sure... might even give me a reward."

 

He worked the corpse up onto his back until he was almost completely covered by it.

 

"It's a good thing this armor takes the brunt of a lot of the weight; there's NO way I'd be able to carry somepone like this without it... well, I could take THEIR armor off, but that'd be kinda like desecrating the dead, and I'll be DAMNED if I'm gonna be haunted for desecrating a Red - I want that reward!"

 

He began to trot leisurely along the canyon wall, headed in the direction of the Red base.

 

"Oh, I'm sure they'll absolutely be thrilled at having their armor back!  Oh, and the body, sure... well, they might have a family.  With colts and fillies.  Multiple, 'cause it makes me seem THAT much cooler for having brought the fallen hero home.  Of course, I really should just let 'em rot, but to be honest, I just figure it'd be better than just leaving bodies lying all over the damn place; then we'd eventually be fighting for a Luna-Damned graveyard instead!"  

 

"But with all this destruction causing all these deaths, I'd have to report how I went above and beyond the call of duty to retrieve the body - not to mention that it's for the other side!  THAT has gotta be worth a friggin' MEDAL!  Oh. this is gonna be SO boss, I'm just gonna go back over to the Blue base and be all like, 'so hey, check out my medal', and Sarge'll be all, 'where'd you get that?', and I'll be like, 'yeah, I'm so badass that the REDS gave me a medal', and they'll be all sorts of impressed!"  

 

"Hey... they might even make me the Blue Base leader- NO!  They'll make me the HEAD TREASURER!  I'll order a THOUSAND Mobile Command Centers, and every Blue base in the whole SYSTEM is gonna get 'em Pelican-dropped in, so the bad guys can see our sweet, sweet MCC Goodness; we'll need a ton of air fresheners for the pantloads they'll be dropping!"

 

Having talked to himself (and his gratefully dead guest) all the way to the Red base from the shadowed end of the canyon, he marched right up to the front entrance and banged a hoof loudly on the sidewall.

 

"Hey, Reds!  Come gimme my medal so I can be Treasurer!"

"Oh, y'all can't be serious," Redwood said to Carmine. "Carmine, ah know ah'm a ghost and all, but ah gotta deal with this."

 

Redwood appeared before Button and said in her ghost voice, "Ah'm th' ghost of that there Red y'all got on yer back. Y'all done killed me so ah'm gonna haunt y'all fer eternity."

Though she couldn't see it, Button blinked in confusion.

 

"No, see - I didn't desecrate the body - I left the armor on.  So the Haunting Handbook says you can't haunt me; besides, you owe me for bringing your body all the way back here from in the canyon.  I mean, the armor is heavy as HELL - not to mention the ordinance packed away on it - and it's pretty hot out here... so unless they put air-conditioning units in your armors as standard issue, then you probably understand... wait, DO they put air-conditioners in Red armors?"

 

"Naaaah, they wouldn't - from the looks of THIS base, you guys have the same budget issues that WE have.  Lemme guess; whoever is in charge is a douche, the others on your team are practically useless, and there's no money in the budget for your own Mobile Command Center, am I right?  Lemme tell ya, it's the SAME THING everywhere I go lately... of course, 'everywhere' preeeeeetty much means this canyon exclusively, and lately meaning 'ever since I got here', which wasn't TOO long ago today..."

 

"Still... I brought you your body - a REALLY nice thing to do for your enemy, by the way - and I was figuring you'd be in line to give me something for it... maybe you, like, have a spare medal lying around?  Doesn't have to be engraved or anything - doesn't even have to be WORTH anything; I just want something to show the guys back at the Blue base.  The acting Treasurer over there keeps telling me to shut up, and I think that's REALLY damn rude, y'know?"

 

"I mean, here I am, in the middle of a canyon that's so far from the battlefront that I could drop my drawers and swing my chestnuts at the enemy and they won't see it for seven years, stuck in a bunker that's so damn cheap that the enemy bought one too, on a team with a Treasurer who incessantly refuses to even consider the possibility of purchasing a proper Mobile Command Center, and rules his position as an Iron Despot, where the only means of getting ammunition is to use the vend-o-matics in the middle of the Luna-Damned canyon floor, and our evil clones are just waiting for their Dental Plans to kick in before they come over here and beat the ever-loving SHIT out of us..."

 

"... but do you hear ME complaining?  Anyway, are you gonna take your body back or what?"

As Copper got back to his base, he reverted back to his normal form.

 

But once he got inside, however, his fury worked up again, as he saw the same ghost 'haunting' his teammates.  He shook his head angrily.

 

"That's it."

 

He turned around, went back to his Super form, and launched himself straight to the enemy base where, reverting back to his normal form, went inside and started firing his blaster like a madman at his opponents.

"This oughtta shut y'all up," said Redwood as she leaped into Button's body.

 

She then tossed her own corpse off of his back, and went into the base to deal with the Blue that had just stormed in.

 

"Ah said y'all ain't seen th' last of me!" yelled Redwood as she barged into the base and began returning fire at Copper.

Copper spun around and saw Redwood firing back onto him.  "Damn it!"  he yelled and took cover as best as he could.  He started to return fire on his opponent.  "You know, I'm trying to tell you not to mess with me, or else I mess with you!  Did you not take the hint when I booted you out of my body?!"

Meanwhile, back at Blue Team Base...

 

"And there! That's the finishing touch! I finally finished these robot bodies. Robotos number 1 & 2, follow me! 'Sir yes sir!' They said in mechanical sounding voices. "Now all that's left to do is get these over to Red Base and get those crazy ghosts to leave us alone."

"Considerin' that this is an armed conflict that we're on opposite sides of, ah think it was obvious that we weren't gonna get along. Now die already!" said Redwood.

 

She was going on a full offensive now, not bothering to take cover. If Copper damaged or killed this body, he'd just be hurting his teammate.

I was tucked behind a wall, watching the fight through a distorted reflection on the unusually clean walls. I was confused as to what was going on, but I knew someone was gonna die. I poked my head around the corner and said. "Hey, I know y'all are big on fighting, but can someone explain what's going on so I understand why?"

I called back; "I didn't actually swear to anything. I technically just nodded. Which basically means I never actually signed up for this." I contemplated the situation for a moment and briefly mumbled "ah, what the hell" before taking out a pistol and shooting at the Blue's legs.

Copper had this planned out.  He was right where he needed to be.  If he died, it would be his time to haunt the Reds as revenge for his now nemesis haunting and possessing his team.

 

But he had to pretend that wasn't the plan.

The clone of Copper looked around, then repeated the process to what he thought the ghost of Redwood did.  He found out that he died as well, then grinned menacingly.  His plan was full circle now.  Now all he had to do was haunt the Red team just like the other ghost was haunting his team.  He appeared right in the base and spoke in his own ghost voice.  "Hello.  Do you want to play with me?"

The spirit of Copper just raised an eyebrow at the Red one who spoke about chess before speaking, giving a sort of evil laugh at the notion.  "Why must you speak of chess in a time like this?  I will haunt you and your team for the rest of your lives."

 

He turned to Redwood.  "Give back my ally, or else this pony dies!"  He motioned with his hoof to the pony who spoke about chess.

"Alright, ah'll admit that y'all got me at a bit of an impasse," said Redwood. "Get th' hell outta here before ah haunt yer ass forever," she barked at Button as she exited his body.

 

"Alright, looks like we're on th' same level, so now what?" she asked. "Do we just haunt each other?"
